  1. Hmm.. I just purchased a second hand 2004 RAV4, which now in hindsight, I paid way too much for! I wanted reverse sensors on it and the lady that sold all the paint protection stuff sold me 4 head reverse sensors for $795! She didn't even show me any brochures or anything, just put $795 on paper. A week later when I picked up the car, there were only 2 head sensors! I raised this with the dealer who we then dealt with the lady that sold it to us and she claimed that this model RAV4 could only accomodate 2 head sensors. I then asked if I could get reimbursed for the difference and she claims that there is not much difference in the price! Which I find hard to believe! Other than having been ripped off with the initial sale of 4 head sensors for $795.00, is there anything that I can do to get reimburssed for the difference? Cheers...
  2. Today (Sunday), I noticed that some a*hole driver side swiped my 2 month old Levin ZR! Aaaaaaaaargh!!!! :( I went to visit someone at Baulkham Hills on Saturday and was parked behind another car on the street outside his place where the incident had most likely occurred as it was the only trip I made that day. Thing is, I noticed it the day after and from what I can gather, someone most likely reversed out of their driveway and drove out too far and scraped the passenger side door! It left a few dents and red paint marks in that area so it was obviously a red vehicle. Unfortunately, I did not hear it nor saw it happen. The offender didn't leave any notes either! Such a pain in the a** and it's a fairly new car too! As mean as this might sound, I hope Karma gets back at the offender who did this! I'll post a pic of the damage done soon. Anyone know of any good smash repairs in and around the Sydney area?
  3. To get access to them fog lights, you'll have to get down and dirty lying on your back. You'll also need a phillips head screw driver and a torch light can be handy. First, there are 2 screws that you have to undo on the front fenders (if you have the manual, refer to it as it will show you the positions of these 2 screws). There's also one of those press down clippy thingies that you apparently remove, but I had problems removing them and it wasn't a big issue in the end. After removing the 2 screws, I gently pulled the fender down towards the back of the car so that I could get access to the fog lights. With the torch, you can have a look at the plugs (from memory they have an orange colour?). To change your bulbs, simply press down the clip in the middle and pull the plug towards you (that would be when you're lying on your back). They should easily unclip. Once they've come off, you twist the bulb I think anticlockwise? until it cannot move any further and you should then be able to pull it out without any force. Once out, just do the reverse. Start with the bulb first, insert and make sure they appear straight, twist it in the opposite direction. The connector of the bulb should be pointing staight down toward you. The plug should then be easily inserted till you hear it click. Test the fog lights to see if they light up before you screw the screws back in to the fenders. Hope this helps...
  4. I quite like the look of the new Corolla Hatches, hence why I purchased one. Originally I was going to go for the Yaris YRX Hatch cos I really liked the look of its small sporty lookin' body, but then I thought the interior looked really cheap and nasty! I guess for its price, you can't really ask for a lot. Sure the new rollas look a little like a fat Yaris but I think it looks nice. Of course, the new style isn't gonna suite everyone's cuppa tea. Some may think it's funky, some may think it's tragic. Differences in opinion is what makes us humans I guess... ;) A few peeves tho is the gear stick being raised and in that position (have knocked it accidently a few times), and not having enough compartments. Oh and only the 1 cig lighter/utility socket. Other than that, it's a great little car. :)
  5. The microphone is situated on the unit itself. You'll see a little hole next to one of the buttons (I think it's nearest the green Answer button from memory). I've the same issue in my Corolla, so there have been times where I've had to lean over and talk over that microphone for the other party to hear me. (I wonder what other drivers are thinking when they see me leaning over and talking to the stereo like that ) In the end, I got sick to death with it and decided to purchase a Sony Ericsson HCB-700 Bluetooth Car Kit which I previously had in my RAV4 and it was great! Hope to have it installed next week!
  6. With the new Corollas (I've an '07 Levin), when the Fuel bar reaches to the last bar, it starts to blink and the car starts beeping at you, obviously telling you that you're low on fuel. Is this the equivalent of having the Fuel light on? I don't recollect seeing a fuel light lighting up on the dash so wasn't sure, and the car manual wasn't of any help. Thanks
  7. Hmm, isn't that the output volume? I also have the problem where I'm shouting just to get the person to hear me. I was told there is no way to adjust the mic sensitivity. Yeah, there is no way to adjust the mic sensitivity. I've decided to ditch using the BT on the factory stereo unit and went out and purchased a Sony Ericsson HCB-700. I had one of these in my previous RAV4 and it was awesome! It has an LCD Display and if you also have a Sony Ericsson phone (which I do), it can sync your phonebook data. It also does voice digit dialling with works with any BT enabled handset. I prefer these than the ones you mount on the visors cos with those, you'd have to charge them every now and then when their batteries are low. Where the HCB-700 is fitted and with no messy cables.
  8. Yeah it does. It also has separate halogens for high beams. They are the ones I replaced with the xenon gas halogens. Hmm... The Corolla Manual doesn't show you at all. Oh wells, hopefully someone on here would have the knowledge on how to remove them from experience.
  9. OK with your tip of being patient, I did manage to change both high beam lights and fog lights... Thanks! I've now got another question, does anyone know how to remove the covers to gain access the interior cabin bulbs? I tried but I didn't want to try harder just in case I break it or pull the entire thing out or something. I'm asking cos I am looking to change the bulbs to brighter LEDs like these on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Super-Xenon-Refract...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-24-LED-Lamp-Car...1QQcmdZViewItem ...but just need to know how to remove those covers and maybe take some measurements to ensure that there's enough space and they'll sit in comfortably with the covers in place. Any help appreciated...
  10. Hi all... I just bought HB3 & H11 globes which are rated at 5000K to replace the highbeam and fog lights on my Levin ZR. I attempted to change the bulb for the highbeams but the space to get to them is really tight! Especially the one on the passenger side! And that battery connector looks mean (will I get zapped if I touch it?) Anyways, the fog lights look easier to change but I have tried as yet. From the manual looks like you remove the fenders and the back of the fog lights should be right there. Just some questions tho... 1) Is there any easier way to change the highbeam bulbs? If not... 2) Would the Toyota Service Techies change the bulbs for me when I next take the car in for service? 3) Would the bulbs being at 5000K cause any issues with heat/cabling etc... I guess if it's all impossible to do, and there's a consensus that it'll damage the wiring, I could always fob 'em off on ebay. Cheers...
  11. Hi mate... That's the manual I have and it displays information on "Setting the speech volume" and "Setting the volume of the ring tone". Nothing about adjusting the microphone's sensitivity.
  12. You can adjust the volume of the speaker and ringing tone from the speakers, but it seems you can't adjust the sensitivity of the microphone. Unless someone wants to correct me if I'm wrong, reading the manual, there doesn't seem to be an option for it.
  13. Hi all.... Newbie here... I just wanted to get a feel on what people think about filling up their cars with E10 fuel. I realise the cars must be compatible for E10 but just wondering what the general consensus is with E10 fuel. Cheers...
  14. I previously had a Toyota RAV4 2005 Cruiser and with the ever increasing fuel prices at the bowser, decided to downsize to a hopefully more fuel efficient car, hence decided to go for the new Corollas. I ordered my Corolla Levin ZR on Australia Day from Phil Gilbert Toyota @ Homebush Bay and I just picked up my Corolla Levin ZR on Wednesday 5/3. I must say, it is a very nice car! Runs a lot smoother, light on the steering and is a lot quieter than than the RAV in terms of road and engine noise, and I love the keyless entry and push button start! The only mods that I am considering is to definately change the stock speakers and apply Dynamats to the doors, and possibly replace the 2-DIN Head Unit with an all-in-one solution like the Pioneer AVIC-HD3 or the Eclipse AVN range of 2-DIN all-in-one units. There are a few of niggly things that kinda annoy me with the Corolla and that's having only 1 cigarette lighter (the RAV had 1 cig lighter on the dash and a utility lighter near the brakes) located in an awkward location near the handle brakes. Bit of a pain when you have a PND. With the gear stick in a higher position, passengers have at times knocked the auto gear stick from D to 3, and when I'm on Bluetooth, people have said that I sound distant and faint, so I've had to either speak louder, or speak towards the microphone located near the centre light switches. But aside from that, I am quite happy with the new Corolla.
