  1. hi there... yes the 2c and 2c-t engine are the same....the only differences are the manifolds for the turbo and a little plumbing here and there. why dont you rebuild what you have??....the "replacement" engine you speak of would possibly need rebuilding anyways as they come out of japanese vehicles that have done 50 000km. dont fiddle with the oil filter extension housing as this has cooling water from the radiator flowing through it. also think about the cost of rebuilding the turbo....mine cost me $1100 as these generally do cop a flogging in japan. unfortunately they are not an "off the shelf" item either. (its a CT12 turbo). i would suggest going into your local toyota dealer and look at what they can get for you. i own a 1991 super extra townace with the 2c-t turbo diesel engine. yes i have rebuilt this engine and have found a few things different between the year models. from 1985 onwards there were changes made to a few internal engine components as well as external. try asking for a right hand mount for a 1989 tarago van....these are the same as the original ones that my van uses. this also might be the correct one for you as well. i have started a new forum for these particular vans too cheers Thanks, sorry for the delay in replying, have been out of town most of the last month. Will chase that up with the local Toyota dealer. Hooroo.
  2. Hi all, this is my first post on this forum. I hope someone out there will have an answer to this question. I have a 1983 Tarago which originally had a 2C motor (diesel) which finally died. I found a replacement 2C-T (to increase the usefulness of the vehicle) through Brisbane Motor Imports and was assured that the engine mounts were the same as the 2C since both were in the warehouse at the time and were compared in situ. However the right engine mount has the chassis bolt slot approximately 35mm forward of the old mount. The old mount will not bolt to the block because the curve in it is up against the oil filter extention on the filter housing (where the turbo oil is taken from), which is facing down to fit around the turbo. Where can I find a right engine mount to suit? Alternately, could the oil filter extension be re-arranged? Thanks in advance.
