  1. Yeah our FWD Grande did it frequently between about 16,000 k's and 19,000 k's, stopped shortly before the 20K service. Hasn't done it since, now at 38,000. Dwayne
  2. Gents, Ive switched back to V13 (after a hard reset so it loads firmware off the disc) and it still doesn't work. I've also put the US LOADING.KWI files on Aus V14 discs (replacing the file that's on there) and it still doesn't work. :-(
  3. Which unit did you get http://www.hitv.com.au/products/hilink-series/ipodaudio.php ?? Mind telling us what the cost was ? can you control the iPodfrom the Nav screen ? I take it this was on a Series II Kluger ? Do any of their units do TV on the SatNav screen ? Cheers Dwayne
  4. Thanks CroToy. PIM Sent with my email address - check your messages. Email them through and I'll post them up. Alternatively, reply to this, and just below the message box is the attachment section, hit browse, select your picture(s), and upload them ! Cheers Dwayne
  5. Good looking units, but unfortunately the video model doesn't work on the latest Nav systems. The audio only one looks OK, but no control from the touchscreen. Thanks for the info !! Dwayne
  6. Continuing the thread where I'm talking to myself lots... :P Here's the link on how to build one of the speed pulse generator units to fool the SatNav, and instructions for install into a Toyota Tundra (don't think there's an equivalent in Australia) http://www.pinemountainfirearms.com/pmf/tu...SpeedPulse.aspx I'm going to build one of these over the coming weeks and give it a go.....
  7. Thread here on adding rear view mirror with compass, with an OEM part http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=242795 Should order one and send a bill to Toyota for it Tempting.....
  8. Hi again all, next to my other current goal in life (getting the SatNav/telephone unlocked while driving), I'd like to get iPod input, and even better, control functionality for the iPod from the touchscreen. So, here's some promising info http://usaspec.com/ipod.html The above guys make a unit, PA 20 TOY, that the posts below indicate work with the latest US Highlander with Navigation. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showpost...amp;postcount=4 Here's a good photo of it. http://usaspec.com/images/full_view.jpg Can anyone confirm if those plugs look like they'll hook into the Kluger Nav unit ? It says it plugs into the factory CD changer port, so can anyone tell me if the 4 stack is treated as an external or internal unit by the Kluger SatNav ? Gut feel is it's treated as internal, so using the PA20TOY unit wouldn't cut out the inbuilt 4 disc changer. By way of explanation, if it's treated as external, there wouldn't really be anywhere to plug this PA20TOY unit until the 4 stack is unplugged. So c'mon, who's looked at the back of their unit, and can answer this, and the Satnav queries ? Hell, if anyone can tell me the best way to pull the unit out, I'll give it a bash as soona sI've got a free weekend ! Dwayne
  9. OK all, here's some more info - this is the service manual for the Subaru unit. Is anyone able to confirm if the pinouts are the same for the Toyota unit ? http://users.on.net/~nark/Liberty/KENWOOD+...vice+Manual.pdf Regards, Dwayne
  10. Hey All, new Kluger Grande owner here, been lurking for a month or so, just picked up a demo late 07 Grande last week. First Toyota I've ever owned, have come from a string of five Subaru's. Well, it's my wife's really but she generously let's me drive it on occasion, I still get to keep a Scooby :). I've kept a close eye on threads about defeating the AVN system lockout both on threads here and Toyota Nation forums on the US sites. I would have to say this lockout setup is absolutely disgraceful. It is now more of a distraction to make a phonecall for instance, and I frequently travel with passengers who would operate the nav system. Anyway, enough ranting about what we know, and onto things that might fix it.... I've tried manipulating the LOADING.KWI files by using the 5.1 firmware version from the US nav discs, but with no luck. The satnav system refuses to recognise the disc if the US LOADING.KWI file is on there, must be something in the base build of the satnav system that searches for certain markers in the file specific to Australian Whereis map discs. Examing the HEX dumps of the LOADING.KWI file shows that the Australian files have a different construct, although I've identified where the version markers are, so I am looking to modify the US LOADING.KWI file and put the Australian version markers in there, in an attempt to get the satnav to recognise and load the 5.1 LOADING.KWI file. So that's a potential software solution - to the nav problem at least. As for the hardware solution - well it appears the Subaru satnav is also the Denso system, and it appears to be the same as the Kluger system. There's a few posts in the ozliberty forums about swapping latest V14 whereis map discs between Subaru, Toyota and Lexus with success in all cars. Now there are also some posts there about people who have defeated the lockout on the Liberty setup, including wiring diagrams that they've obtained from Subaru. I'm yet to pull the dash and have a look behind the Toyota setup, but I'm wondering if anyone has and is able to compare the Subaru and Toyota setups and advise whether or not the Subaru fix might also work for the Toyota's. The posts indicate that it's not just the green wire that needs to be cut/manipulated, but also a black wire. Threads on that bit are here: http://www.ozliberty.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10219 They also reference a US site, however that talks about a Kenwood system, so maybe that's the older Subaru system: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63678 There's also these threads on the US Toyota Nation site to keep an eye on: Successful Navigation Menu unlock while driving!! http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249794 GPS/DVD Display while driving workaround http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236334 Maybe we can keep this thread as a repository for all things to do with overriding the lockout Regards, Dwayne
