  1. as far as i can see there is no reason why the car would not function with the stock ECU. Do bare in mind that it will be down on power... untill you supercharge it of course.

Before i turbo'd my celica, I put a thicker head gasket put in (which also will lower compression) and this did not effect the car (besides a small drop in power)

Thanks for that, I'll go ahead and order my mahles now. bit of a drop though from 11,5 to 9,0!

are you buying a new block too? as you cant touch the original bore due to the mmc lining you'll want resleeving or a new block unless you are willing to put up with some piston rattle like most do when not doing the job properly.

  2. god, some of you are dumb. i shouldn't have to spell everything out, we all know about reducing the chances of flow reversal and the step helps scavenging - so your saying you will have the header and gasket different sizes - have a day off. now who's the silly one - who cant read. another point - your average installer wont know to centre the header and gasket and just rest it on the studs (i use drill bits to centre the bolt) if you only enlarge by 1mm................. think about the rest of the sentence or do i have to fill all the gaps

sorry better stick to the threads you can handle - which cai should i get, its been 2 threads since someone asked ;)

we can all be smart sheilas.

CHA54 is saying to take it out 1mm over with the die grinder and then finish it off with something else to get a tidier job. So it will be more than 1mm larger than the port when finished! How much so I don't farken know? But if you look at the photo provided on the previous page, you only have less than ~2mm before you meet the gasket...

While you're handing out advice, I think you should stick to being a dumb arsehole, since you're really good at it. Go back and RTFM on people skills...

    Gav.

bit more polite than your original quote. as you clearly dont know what your taking about you should GTFO as you so eliquintely put it. put your e warrior pants back under your trousers - and maybe you should rtfm on porting as you have made youreslf look very stupid when challenging someone who does these and DOES know what he's talking about.

you can always tell an aussie - you just cant tell him much! i think that saying applies to the likes of you.

by all means carry on with your inferior ported header - knowledge is horse power!

  4. you dont port match the header - the header should be larger than the exhaust port. use the gasket as your template, for those who are unsure about portng join some portin forums and read the basics.
Port the header to be a bit less than 1mm larger than the exhaust port in the head (to help with reversion), then finish off with the flap wheel.

    Learn to read...

learn to port! match to gasket or you will create unnecessary turbulance.

  5. the hole in the gasket is actually much larger than the exhaust port on the head...

It's best to take a stencil of your actual exhaust ports and work from that.

  6. interesting bar AE102. What difference has it made?

The seller was willing to sell it to me for $200 plus $50 shipping so thats like a cost of a branded front tower brace. It looks very similar to the cusco and summit front brace. Someone can buy it just for the front. If the rear fits then thats a bonus.

its a stock bar fiited to the facelift models - made by yamaha. i didint expect to notice it to be fair but it made a noticeable difference, reduced flexing thats for sure and tightened the rear up. i plan on putting one the other mount bolt - but i'll knock that up myself. i

can you post up a complete pic.???

that floor reinforcement panel is triple layer and to make an improvment, you would need a HUGE hollow rod. some basic statics maths will show you that, beacuse it acts as a bucking column .

the proper way to improve the rear stiffness is to add a bar up high like was done in the ST205's GpA cars

i'll get a proper pic - its mounted to the strut mount bolt and it does make a difference, thats why it was fitted on the facelift. i doubt it will offer the same improvement as the TRD tower brace but for £40 i'm happy - but yes the TRD one will be going in at some stage to compliment it.

Yeah I have the same screen name on 9thgen as well. Thanks for letting me know what was going on here with SD's harness

no worries my friend - glad you got it, having some fun now i bet? is the harness you got the same as the ozzy harness as our euro pinout is different i think? well we have different features.......

i've changed my screenname on 9thgen to "Pocket Rocket" - same name as my upcoming sideline. get some pics up overthere............................

  8. PMs sent

    Thanks SD

    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted the forum to know that DAVE is the MAN!!! Everything works using his adapter harness ...A/C, temperature gauge it all works on my jdm model runx z. He was very prompt in all his correspondence with me and all jdm model runx z's and fielder z's can purchase this harness without question. Thanks once again Dave!

sweet - that was you on 9thgen?

SD - did you confirm the euro ecu pinout was the same as the JDM variants?

  9. ppe also supply a mid pipe for the Corolla to make installation even simpler.

    is that RHD or LHD?

its not rhd or lhd specific - its designed for exhausts that exit from the right side of the car, the JDM variants seem to exit on the left side.

thats Gustavo's header - he loved his design so much he took it to bed!

  10. TRD extractors are really good if you spend 80% of your time above 6000 rpm...

they flow amazingly but are hopeless for producing torque/power low in teh rev range... which is where your street car is generally used.

best bet is to get a Get your stock headers port matched and the collecter cleaned up... or... buy CES headers off the shelf... which have the ports matched and collector cleaned up + HPC coating if you like the bling factor.

you dont port match the headers - step................. scavenging!!

  11. common problem - often the IMG is leaking. spray some card cleaner(cat safe!) around where the manifold bolts to the head and listen out for the slightest rise in revs to confirm leak. worth cleaning the maf - plugs dont cause rev hunting! if you dont find a leak remove and clean the iacv but that shouldnt be clogged - if your getting a lot of oil vapour from the pcv you've got bigger problems on the way.

  12. ^^^ forgot about the traction control - so you wont have vehicle stability control which is something i would luv too lose aswell! red has promised to work on a euro harness but he has a few pies in the oven at the moment - this would be a perfect solution.

SD - i can send you a copy of our ecu pinouts for comparision and we may not lose trc and vsc as this is running in parrallel?

  13. when resetting the ecu - on start up after disconncting battery/pull fuse let the car idle for like 20 minutes and dont touch anything, believe me it makes a difference then go for a drive, it will still take a few pulls to adjust. when you said you had to push the filter right up thats not right - the filter should be clamped at the end of the pipe. i had to shorten my trd piping to fit the huge filter with the foglight correcly. i tried a injen filter as space was still tight but the smaller cone didnt perform as well.

    th_video-0002.jpg

sounds even better now with a few more mods but still put a massive naughty grin on my face - and the looks from by-standers!

  14. dont use NOS and i'll lick you garunteed!

and he showed the pics in another thread of the jets - no sour grapes NOS dont interest me and will soon be illegal here cos of the head the balls that use it! from the other stuff you showed the 2zz community through various forums there is no way you wouldnt post a worth while mod. you showed the fartcan and heatwrapping your intake tubing - get me point! so its BS lad - and York, to many sheep shaggers there for my liking - NW me lad!

  15. BS just like i said - you took pics of every other riceboy mod so why not of the manifolds you claimed to have ported  i'm not childish i just hate liars - many forums ask you to prove your work if pics arent supplied as all forum userds take pics of their mods. i've done my manifolds myself and was proud of the fact and took pictures - the same as everyone elso who's done their own. and yes a simulated dyno is pointless
