  1. You have to remember the 2zzge is way more efficient than the 1zzge. My wife 1zz auto only gets 500ish ks from a full tank with normal driving. My sportivo never gets under 600ks from a tank even with regular lift right to redline and city driving. My best is 750ks combined (with petrol light on) and my second best is 735ks. Both of these figures were city/hwy driving with zero lift. I reckon i could crack 800 on highway only driving with a jerry can in the boot just in case. The sportivo also has a 60ltr tank whereas the 1zz corolla only has a 55ltr tank. When my fuel light comes on it usually means i have at least 10 litres left so 800ks is possible.
  2. What do you do with the little air tube the connects to the back of the factory air box that opens that flap? I have a suggestion on the cai. Since i have a home loan and not much spare coin i wanted the sound of an aftermarket cai with the look of the standard air box. What i did was cut the largest hole i could in the side of the airbox that faces the battery. The hole itself is in the base of the box and not the lid for obvious reasons. What this has done is let all of the cool intake sound out without letting too much warm air in. The difference in sound is simply amazing BUT if the cops pop the bonnet for any reason it all looks stock. The main benefit i found was a really deep induction/growling noise in the mid range and the obvious scream in the lift zone. The next plan is to run a pipe from inside the guard to within a few inches of the hole to direct cooler air to the k&n panel filter. It took about an hour and didn't cost a cent. Be under no illusion, this will NOT give you more power, just more sound.
  3. Update. Its been well over a week now and since finding the nut and the earth lead and fixing both the car has not made the noise since. I hope to never hear it again to be honest. The crazy thing was it only did it for a second when cold and not often enough to pinpoint the noise. I can't say for sure that what i did fixed it but only time will tell. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
  4. Nah, its not the oil level. I always check the oil level and did the oil a week after the noise started. I started pulling stuff apart just now and found that the earth lead that bolts to the motor was missing the bolt for some f'd up reason (not me) and the earth lead was just dangling next to another metallic part which may have been the noise and for another reason (not me again) i have just found a nut similar to the ones used to connect the battery terminal leads sitting in behind the inlet manifold and laying in a little crevice next to the head. I used a magnet to get it out and can't for the life of me see where it has come from. The bolt for the earth lead is nowhere to be found. I will put it back together and see how i go and report my findings
  5. Hi, I need some help/suggestions. I have an 05 sportivo with 85,000ks on the clock and only in the last fortnight a rattle has appeared when the car is started cold. It doesn't do it every time i cold start it and it never does it when its warm. It sounds metallic and only last for 1-2 seconds and i'm stuffed if i can pinpoint it. The sound is similar to say an exhaust shroud with a couple of bolts missing (that sort of rattle). The car is stock. I am hoping it's nothing internal. Any ideas would be great. P.S. I can't see much point in taking it to Toyota to get the standard "We couldn't find what you were talking about" standard line they always say. Thanks Darren.
  6. mate not too hard at all.. Only a few screws (bout 10) for the front bar and only 4 hold the bonnet to the brackets. Just gotta find em all ;) Do the headlights have to come out as well?
  7. Hi, i am new to this forum and have recently purchased an black 2005 sportivo with a major stone chip problem on the front bar and bonnet. Its like the previous owner regularly travelled behind trucks or something. Anyway i want to take off the front bar and bonnet and get them resprayed. I would like to know how hard it is to remove the front bar (how many screw/bolts there are etc) from the car. I am super paronoid about taking the whole car to a spray shop cause they are sure to flog the absolute beegeezuz out of it while its getting fixed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks 420NLY
