  1. I splurged out and bought the K&N drop in filter today from the US. Hope it helps! Also, DJKOR's recommendation about swapping over the vacuum hoses connected to the air intake actuator does actually work quite well. I can definetely hear the supercharger's whine at lower revs than with the valve closed at lower RPMs.

From US? Can't you get it from one of the local suppliers here - Repco, Autobarn etc.?

Yeah, i've read about swapping the vacuum hoses and removing the resonator but looks too complicated for me. And i wouldn't dare try it unless someone was supervising me ;)

How long is it going to take from the US?

Update us on how it goes :)

  2. hi all,

just had the Bolle window tint (seires 2) installed on my red zr6. For $500.00 and a lifetime warranty totally recommend it. Also got two free pairs of sunnies but their crap to look at, (good for the beach and stuff)

That's from Tint a car right? Is $500 expensive for a tint? Because everyone else on this topic seem to be paying low $200 to about $400?

    Or is Bolle quite expensive?

    Anyone recommend anyone in Perth?

    STATUS: TAKEN :)

    REASON FOR BUYING:

well i bought my Aurion TONIGHT!! (yes im still at work and havent even gotten to drive it yet) i work @ a Toyota dealership in Perth so when my 06 Corolla was driving me crazy cos it's too small and too slow (only had it 3months) the Aurion was an AWESOME step up! this car is my "family car/daily driver" everything fits in it perfeclt (with a 2.5yr old son comes alot of crap lol) and i enjoy driving it. its VERY differnt from my "baby girl" (my nissan 200sx S14) who i drive on the weekends but this Aurion is a very very sexy daily! VERY HAPPY! :)

Congrats on the buy. What model and colour did you get? You must've got a bargain since you work at a Toyota dealership :D

Enjoy it, it's a really nice car!

  4. Ok just pumped my car 50L of Shell Premium Unleaded (95 octane i think?) when i was almost empty and it's just a tiny bit off full.

Resetted my TRIP A odometer and see how many kms i get out of it. Currently driving at about 9.9L/100km to about 10ish.

    ----

    UPDATE

So I'm almost on empty, with the estimated range left being 60 km and i've driven 450-460km already. So about 500+km on a almost full tank and running Shell Unleaded Premium - whilst my fuel economy ranged between 9.8L/100km to 10.7,10.8L/100km. At the moment it's sitting at 10.2L, with most of it being freeway driving, probably about 65 ,70%.

  5. AGE: 23

    SEX: Male

STATUS: kinda taken, kinda single... who knows really... lol

    REASONS FOR BUYING:

well, it comes down to the fact that i've lost roughly 60k on cars over the years... i was sick of doing that, and because i have a disease of not being able to modify cars, i had to pick a car which would entertain me as a stock car...

it was 50% TRD, 20% FPV and 30% HSV...

the trd dealer called me back (the only dealer to do this!) and asked to do him a favour and come back for another test drive...

so i went back there and he gave me the keys and didnt come with me on the test drive.. this is what pushed me up to 80% trd, 10% fpv and 10% hsv...

then when i came back from the drive, he did up a quote for me at a shockingly good price... so i signed on the dotted line right there and then...

and well, the rest is history... :D

oh, and how does a 23yr old afford this car? well, selling drugs and stolen goods... its a great industry.... i suggest it to everyone...:ph34r:

Haha you might make a lot of money from it, but i believe karma will catch up to you eventually

  6. AGE: 17 (18 in Nov)

    SEX: Male

    STATUS: Happily taken B)

REASONS FOR BUYING: Crashed my other car, needed a car - which was ok on petrol, yet manly :D got a bit of umph! but not too much.. and looked absolutely sexy as well. Also within the price range (was actually out of the price range, but convinced my dad).

    ----

EDIT: Also the state election just went by, and if Labour had won the P plater no V8, Turbo car, modified v6 and other powerful cars was going to come into place. Which was a big factor in my decision.

Liberal won anyway! HOO RAH ;)

  7. Well..Dpending on the purpose of what u gonna use ur GPS for..

For me, 1st and primary reason, for street directions. Secondly, for Camera LOCATIONS.

Obviously the Factory standards dont provide this n so far, nothin can be done... Ah well..

Should probably bear with this...

Does camera locations refer to only red light cameras?

If you could pick up speed cameras and radars indefinitely that would be frkn awesome! :D

  8. I took my car back to the dealer to get the front bumper repainted today. But also took it in to get the wheel aligned again. My dad was the one that noticed it slightly rides left and u have to hold the steering wheel at a slight angel to the right to keep the car straight. Toyota called me back and said they had done a wheel alignment and the problem should be gone.

So hopefully it's goes as straight as a bullet..

  9. Hey everyone,

I've just bought the new JVC KW-AX810 Double Din DVD player for my car. Does anyone know where to get a cheap & reliable install in Perth? Or even people know how to install and wouldn't mind spending an afternoon with me? I'll provide a case of beer and snaggers!

I've heard good things about Alberts Cannington, but I find them a tad bit expensive.

    Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated!

    Regards,

    Jason

Yeah a lot of my mates go to Alberts in Cannington, they say it's really good.

What about JB-Hi Fi, they don't seem too bad anyone got any feedback?

Hahahaha Strathfield would be the last place I'd go for installs :|

Caity, I got a friend who works at the JB hifi in Cannington and she got it for me for....let's just say...really cheap. It retails for $1099 but I got about umm...close to 35% off that. So if you want me to hook you up give me a yell :)

Alright I'll give Westside Car Audio Ozzy Park a go, wish me luck! :P

Eeeeeeeeeeeep can't wait to put in my Type X Pros >.<

Oh and one more question, do you guys know if the new headunit can utilize the steering wheel controls? If yes, what is the part called?

If I can source it from the net I'm sure it'll be cheaper, eBay FTW!

Hahaha.. next time i buy some car audio will be sure to talk to you about it B)

And yeah tell us how it goes, good luck!

  10. nice... looking forward to see you on meet yeh? :):)

well... i hope so... so i can get the other guys with aurion to come along! YAY! TOCAU.WA is growing .. hahahhah.....

yeah most likely will come check out the rest of the TOCAU.WA crew :D

    Howdy.

    Soon it will be TOCAU.AURION.WA

You got an Aurion as well huh? You from W.A? We should meet up sometime B)

hey...if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for the car??? it looks sexed btw. i have a black zr6 as well...

i was afraid of making the wrong dicision coz i could not be bothered to do a test drive when i bought it, but OMG i was soo surprised by how comfy it was compared to my other previous cars. its a nice luxury + sports package :D

You bought the car without test driving it? :o

Yeah will PM you the price.

  11. Hi

I thought you’d be interested to know that from the end of July ‘08, Shell will start to phase out its Shell V-Power Racing fuel in Australia.

The Shell V-Power Racing phase out from Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, NSW & ACT will take around 6 months and will be finished at the end of the year.

Be assured that Shell V-Power, a 98 octane fuel, which has been developed with Ferrari, will be Shell’s performance fuel and continues to be available at Coles Express sites in QLD, VIC, SA, NSW & ACT.

Changing needs of motorists and their vehicles has played a big part in Shell’s decision. Shell is currently increasing the availability of Shell Unleaded E10 at Shell branded sites to make it easier for motorists to access the ethanol blended fuel.

If anyone wants to find out more info on the phase out of Shell V-Power Racing you can visit www.shell.com.au or call 13 16 18 for tech or general enquiries.

Otherwise, shout out as I’m a Shell representative so I’m well placed to answer any queries.

    Cheers Adam

Man thats practically every state that has V-Power.. i live in Perth, WA. Why don't we have it? :(

We only have Shell Premium unleaded here which is 95 octane...
