Gen 3 issues

Hi Folks

Has anyone had any issues with their Gen 3 Wide Body Camry on the following:

1. Leaking power steering rack

2. Clunking noise coming from the rear when travelling over light bumps on the road (even though my mechanic says he can't find anything wrong with the suspension).

3. Common places for oil leaks (rocker cover, etc)

Any similar experiences or information is appreciated!

now the oily stuff

The oil leaks you are getting are related to a tiny crack in the rocker cover gasket. so these needs replacement asap, before you get a blow out!

You can DIY (the 4cyl is easy, V6 is a bit more tricky) or get it done by a local grease monkey! should be about $400~

as for the clunking sound from the back, I have the same problem. it is the suspension. mine is in dire need of change as is it 184,000km old!

Power steering rack, could be a worne seal somewhere. but leave that to an expert, otherwise you'll have nuffin!

Have a look at the rubber sway bar bushes. or check the rubber seat/insulator the springs sit on. If there perished they might be the cause of the clunking.

I had the clunking from the rear on my gen 4 and they were the reasons
