Howdy All,

While I was away recently, I left my Corolla in the shop to have a Harman Kardon Drive+Play iPod system installed. I simply don't have the time or know-how of getting it done.

Now that I have some time, I'm keen to change the location of the Kardon main unit. Its been stuffed into the box between the ash-tray and air-con controls.

How do I get in behind this to 'investigate' and maybe shift it round?

For info, the Kardon system hooks up to the factory head unit well and gives a near crystal clear output.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not familiar with the actual unit you have hooked up to your radio but to get a better look at it you have to remove some of the center console. Pull off all the knobs that control the air conditioner and heater and also pull off the little slidey thing that lets fresh or recycled air into the car. Once you do that you will notice that there is a couple of screws that were behind that AC knobs. remove them and then you should be able to gently pull that whole plastic bit out. Do this gently as there are some cables that are connected from behind to that part of the console that you need to disconnect.

Now that all that's removed you should be able to see how it's all hooked up. There's probably a few screws that are easy to locate which will enable you to take out the unit. If you do remove it don't forget to replace the plastic pocket thing one you're done. Hope that helps. Just let me know if i didn't make anything clear. :)
