as to the topic, small displacement engines need revs to make a lo of power as they dont make a lot of torque, they must be revved hard.

i learned with 4ages that gearing (boxes and final drives) itself seems more important than most engine mods.

no amount of throttles or valves will give a small engine a brawny mid range or low end. 4cyl engines are all about the top end.
