Hi guys im wondering if there is any lights specialist here to help me with a light install?

im wondering if there is a way for the interior lights and neons(in engine bay and under car) to light up when:

i press my unlock button on the key remote. then they turn off after a certain time. so when im driving i dont get in trouble.( im guessing this might be hard)

OR if there is a way i can attach a switch to them and when the doors open.

any ideas just post here.

thanks heaps!

im thinking of red footwells and under the 2 front seats and the boot.

and MAYBE in engine bay and under the car.

I'm not too sure on how the dome light on the Corolla behaves when you unlock, but I assume the dome light comes on when the door is unlocked right? If that's the case, you wire a 'Double Throw' (3 position) switch so that one side provides power from the dome light to the neons, then the other side provides power directly to the neons. That way, when the switch is in one position the neons come on when you unlock the doors and/or open them, and when the switch is in the other position, you can force them to be on.

If your dome light has the feature that it holds on for like 15-30 seconds after you close your doors, the neons would behave the same. Then when you flick the ignition on, they will turn off.

Theres a guide on the forum on how to install the COROLLA door sills and it tells you the colour codes for the wires. Just tap into them with the neons and they should come on and off when you open and close your car doors. But that will only let them come on with the doors opening and closing.
