OK guys & gals,

I've spent a little time looking at your forums, especially in the Corolla forum, and I've read a lot about "lift". It confused me at first :( but I think that I've eventually managed to work out what you're on about. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's when the second cam starts cutting in?

Anyhow, if this is the case, then I've got a query. I thought that the VVTi system installed on Toyota engines had no constant point at which the second cam was activated, but it was rather variable dependent on the driving conditions (speed, acceleration, throttle position, etc...).

Another question: my European spec Avensis has a 1ZZ-FE engine, 129bhp, redlined at 6400revs. Anyone have any stats on this engine? And where do you find these stats anyway?

Great article. Helped a lot. Explains why I didn't notice any effect on my engine - it's just a VVT-i, not a VVTL-i :D

Now I've just got to look for an engine swap
