So i was out tonight hitting the dance floor and my keys fell out of my pocket, next thing i realise is that i stepped on them. the actual key is fine but the actual remote with the "lock" and "unlock" buttoms is not. the car wont open via keyless entry anymore and i was wondering whats the best way to fix this? when i shake the remote, theres a rattling sound inside, so i opened it up and the battery seems lose. (yes i know the main problem on why the keyless entry doesnt open anymore)

Ive done an extensive search on this forum (so i like to think) and found nothing thats about recommendations on where i can get it fixed. i realise toyota can do this, but that might cost me $100+. ive got a spare remote which im going to use for now, but it would be nice if i could get this one fixed.

has anyone had any problems with their remote like this or any problems at all? and if so, where did they go to get it fixed ?

Hey

Are you still under warranty?

If so, try get it done under warranty, of course you may need to make up some excuses to get it covered.

It should be free for you that way.

Otherwise i would not have any idea what to do or where to go other than Toyota.

I would open up the remote first and look what you have broken. Maybe you would be extremely lucky and just snapped the battery off. If that was the case, a little solder/duct tape would fix it.

But that would only be if you are lucky. There are barely any components inside the remote, just an IC, a crystal, and a few switches in electronic speak. More than likely you have snapped the circuit board because those components are that small that it's not that easy to knock them off without that happening, but this you can only tell by opening it up.

D35, yeah im still under warranty (havnt voided it just yet). i was thinking of saying it was in my pocket and suddenly it stopped working. maybe that will work?

DJKOR; Yeah i opened up the remote lastnight and it seems that the battery is lose. there is like two latches (so to say) that hold the battery in place and one of them is a bit out. Other than that, the circuit board seems fine but god knows what is broken that cant be seen by the naked eye.

My good mate said to go to one of them watch/battery/engraving joints you see in the middle of a shopping centre to see what they can do, but that being said..would you take advice from someone who has just consumed a whole bottle of vodka? i think not. haha. My other mate how ever, told me not to take out the battery as it would reset the device.."just like taking the battery out of your car" so i was a bit hesitant to do so until i was 100% that i had a spare keys/remote at home.

If you can hold the battery against the contacts and get it to work, then I guess if you have the ability, just repair the battery holder and you should be set.

Your mate has got the right idea about taking it to one of those watch places if you can't manage to get the battery holder in place.

Taking the battery out and leaving it for an infinite time will not reset anything. The remote is only built to transmit one type of code for it's entire life.

      How rare is the 2002 camry v6 manual sportivo

      So I just recently picked up this 2002 camry,which I so far LOVE. However I'm really curious how uncommon exactly is this model? I live in a australia and I've never really seen a manual camry let alone the sportivo v6. Just curious :)

      Camry 2007 Electrical Question

      Hi all, New member here. Got couple of issue with a 2007 Camry Altise. The clock/Speed alert screen doesn't work on the dash. It turn on/off periodically. Sometimes it will never turn on, sometimes it turns on for few hours. Does anyone know what could be the issue? Second issue is the horn is not working, checked the plugs they're all good. The screen wheel buttons work except horn. Pressing the find the car button the remote makes the horn go off. But I couldn't get the alarm go off (locked the car and opened the door from window). Any ideas where else I could look? Thanks in advance.

      Tried everything won't run right

      Hi all, I have the 1998 toyota spacia/townace van sr40 import, I bought it with high ks as it had service history and seems to run well until, can someone please shed some light on this situation, my van runs fine but sometimes when it wants to when I'm taking off at lights or from a stop from 1st to 2nd gear the van dies losses power it surges and then picks up and takes off again, I have changed spark plugs air filter added injector cleaner and done some checks but I'm not a mechanic, it seems to be something simple maybe I'm hoping, it dosnt do it all the time just when it wants to more when it's warm than cold, I bought a obd reader x3 but none will work to tell me what it is any ideas anyone should I change the plug leads aswell ? thanks all

      Stolen Keys

      Hi Olivia, Sorry to hear about your separation, a real difficult time. Been there, done that. About your keys, I think any Toyota dealer should be able to replace the keys, when you quote the rego number and / or the VIN number. You will need all the proof of ownership and identity you can provide, for them to action it. Be aware that these keys are not cheap $100s. Herb As a further aside, your ex partner, having the keys, will still enable him to "take" the car, should he see it anywhere. Talk to the Toyota dealer about the problem, maybe they can reprogram the immobiliser.

      Hi everyone, this is my first time in the forum, nice to meet you all. I have a 2000 Toyota Celica SX 2D 4 SP Sequential Auto, 4 CYLINDER, 1.8L. Not the best story to break in with but I've just gone through a separation and my ex-partner has taken the keys to my vehicles. I have 2 cars, he has 5. My daily driver is safe for now, but my Celica is completely keyless. It's registered in my name, insured by me, and I have proof of all of this. At the moment it's in hiding at a mates place after being towed from the old property. I've spoken to a couple of locksmiths and they're all convinced it's impossible to replace the keys without replacing the entire immobilizer system. One idea thrown about was the possibility of using some Camry keys/codes to do a shifty and get it moving that way. I was just wondering whether anyone had any wisdom to share about this. Has anyone else had to replace their keys, and what route did you take to do it? Any advice would be much appreciated! -Olivia

      2003 land cruiser troop carrier camping set up

      Gday everyone, I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself and seek advice on land cruiser troop carrier model 2003 I intend to buy. It has a pop top roof and camping gears in the back (fridge, sink, drawers and so on). 320.000km but in good condition, some minimal rust on passenger door and may only need to replace windscreen. Previous owner had original left rear bench seats removed and welded in a small couch but left seatbelts nuts and bolts in place, as shown on pics. I like the idea to bring passengers if needed and would be looking to re install one bench seat or rear forward facing seats. I understand it will all need to be engineered and road worthy once job completed but am still a bit unsure on how to go about all this. Just wondering if anyone here has had experience with this model and replacing seats in general and can provide advice. Apologies for long message, hope it s not a bad start!! Cheers
