new stivo, now gone

Recommended Posts

yeah sorry bout what happened. man. i don't think there is a deterent to these type of people. the more you do the more smarter they get.

just look at the amount of subies get stolen. that's why insurance for a subie is high.

the other option is get a decent alarm system with a sim card in it. not only you can track your car but the company that makes them can track it too and police on request.

Also by dialling the number on the sim on the car it shuts the car off giving police time to get to the scene. a system like this costs around $2k but gives you peace of mind specially now that it has happened.

the best thing is get a good insurance company.

yuck yuck yuck.. sorry to hear this dude!! ive got a similar story... Few weeks ago i also went close to loosing my stivo.

Only had it for 3days, went to a party and parked the car on the side street, came back round 2am and the car wouldnt start... ended up getting my dad to pick me up and left the car overnight...

Car got towed the next day and left at toyota.. toyota call me up on monday and they tell me that some1 had broken in and attempted to disable the immobiliser!

I didnt kno this, but when u remove the glovebox, underneath there is a computer with 4plugs. the mechanic showed me that all 4plugs had been taken out... there was also a dent at the top of the passenger door where the bas7ard had opened the door :(

Mechanic rekond that the thief got disturbed or couldnt start the car or something...

Thing that gets me is- if they did get disturbed or watever; why was the car shut, glovebox put back in place and everything look normal??

so yeh.. i duno. jst glad that my baby's ok i guess. Which then brings me to the point.. why doesnt a top-of-the-line toyota come standard with an ALARM! <_<

Because the Toyota alarms are sh!t and you're better of getting an aftermarket one anyway... Most motor companies have actually done market research in this and found a majority of people feel safer with an aftermarket alarm then one from the factory (as car companies often cut costs on accessary items I guess) so many have chosen just to offer it as an aftermarket dealer fitted accessory (usually of a better quality to the Toyota offered one too)
