Hey mate have been looking at ebay car seat covers and they seem cheaper than Supercheap for what you get. I want some sheepskins but they are expensive $600ish for fitted

Hey I just took delivery of my new baby just this afternoon.. A silver KX-R AWD. Love that new car smell! And mine came with a full tank to boot!!

Looks like the Tarago is moving on to another home!

Kids growing up? I replaced our ageing Tarago with a 1 year old KX-R AWD 7 seater about 12 months ago. The difference is just amazing. We now find it a pleasure to drive places, we appreciate the quietness and additional power, and the fuel consumption is nearly as good as the Tarago around the city, and better on highways. The only drawback is less luggage space compared to the Tarago, but a luggage box on top gets us by for those long trips (and I'm talking about 4 grown kids ages 16+).

Yes the kids are growing up! The Tarago was very versatile and we will miss the extra cargo space but it's nice to have a car that just works! As far as the fuel consumption goes our Tarago was heavy on the juice as we do most of our driving in the city so I don't expect the Kluger to be any worse. We went for the AWD 7 seater as well..

How are you guys? I just want to ask if the sound system in any kx-r is upgradeable. I want to change mine with sony head unit, anyone?

and also how to remove it.

Cheers,

leahcim :)

Hi leahcim,

I suggest have a look at this thread:

http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23607

I'm going for the same flyaudio unit. I've seen it installed and it looks perfect. You will even find the reseller details there. I've seen other threads where someone (can't remember who) bought a similar unit on ebay and it broke short after. I think he lost his money!

Good luck

Yeah that was sold by "Pay per view", steer clear of that, dodgy indeed!

Hado has a FlyAudio unit installed and seems to be very happy with it. I think it's definitely worth considering on your short list.

Be aware that there are several other forum posts with people stating that they upgraded to the Toyota genuine unit as sold in the KX-S costing them around $800 and they wish they had their money back.

I thought KX-R and KX-S shared the same unit. Or are you referring to the Grande? I honestly think an aftermarket unit will be better than the genuine toyota (Grande)

The KX-S has a 6 CD unit with Bluetooth and the KX-R has a single CD unit (no Bluetooth).

If I get my act together I will sell my KX-S unit on eBay and hopefully a KX-R owner who wants Bluetooth will buy it.

Don't mean to be cheeky... however there is one for sale on ebay right now for $150 reserve, no bids... either no one has seen it yet or that's a true reflection of its street value :o

It still has 5 days to go - but it may be that they are not worth that much, although I recall Toyota sells them as an KX-R upgrade for around $750.

Also the seller is only listing it as a Kluger stereo - when they also fit a range of Toyota models.

If it was a reflection of it's street value, the price would be much lower :P

  • 2 weeks later...

hi all,

moving off topic (again), just got my new kluger a couple of days ago. Very happy.

Can anybody recommend a dealer/service centre in the northern suburbs?

I go my Kluger throught a fleet purchase from a dealer in Geelong. Not planning to drive down for every service!

I used to live in canberra so I haven't actually used a dealer here, just melbourne city toyota once for my camry. I heard Cannon Toyota is good?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,

David
