Hi,

There's a diesel sound coming from the engine, i've done a bit of reading apparently its one of the pulleys?

Can anyone confirm if its usually what the sound it from?

Here's a couple of the links i've been reading through.

Hi guys,

just so everyone knows. I have empirically tested and the 1zz and 2zz belt tensioners are different. You cannot interchange them.

You can however, interchange the actual pulley on the end of the tensioner. I did this because the 2zz's have a whirring sound that is common to them. They get them replaced much like we get our belt tensioners replaced because of the diesel sound at idle. Can someone make sure this information gets into the library?

It may not be a big issue but I enjoy working on cars and would like to work out what it is and fix it.

I think if I keep polishing it i'll pull the clear coat off haha
