Front - Passenger Side - Door Actuator

Tried to fix one of my Camry's problems today, the central locking mechanism does not operate on the front passenger door

Got the door trim off (with the help of some of the ppl on this site) but i'm stuck when it comes to disconnecting the rods and the door actuator

Anyone done this before ? any tricks, tips etc ?

I thought it would be as easy as unbolting the old actuator, buying a new one, and bolting it in .... but the disconnecting part seems a bit tricky and i dont want to break anything (or not be able to put it back together)

Help please :-)

If you go to this link and download the Pdf file, it has diagrams and instructions on how to remove the parts your having problems with.

I replied to your other post Repair Manual and mentioned this website to download the repair manual.

hey mate, i'm looking at this PDF now, but really cant make sense of it.

I just want to replace the door actuator, but not sure if i can replace just this part (and if so, how). The manual shows how to pull apart the entire door, and mentions on page 6 "Remove Door Lock". Do you know if the actuator is part of this door lock assembly ?

I appreciate your post, but I'm just struggling to make sense of the PDF file

As I have not seen the inside of a Camry door before, I can't relate anything to the Pdf file. I do have the Gregorys Repair Manual and I have copied from that the following instructions. As you have already removed the trim and now have the the inside door is now open:

DOOR LATCH

1. Working through the large access hole, disengage the outside door handle-to-latch rod, outside door lock to-latch rod, and the inside handle-to-latch rod (see diagram) as I don't have the that diagram for you, the wording underneath says "Detach the plastic clips on the actuating rods leading to the latch - the latch is secured to the end of the door with three screws".

2. All door lock rods are attached by plastic clips. The plastic clips can be removed by unsnapping the portion engaging the connecting rod and then pulling the rod out of its locating hole. On models with power door locks, disconnect the electrical connectors at the latch.

Sorry I can't help anymore then this. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info. I will hopefully get some time to look at this tonight when i get home.

My biggest worry is breaking something when i remove it, or not being able to re-assemble it !!!! hopefully it will go ok

Appreciate your help :)

for the LOVE OF GOD ......

is there anyone that can tell me how to disengage the rod from the exterior door handle ?

There is a yellow clip which flips up, and then i would imagine that the rod (whilst still attached to the yellow clip) would slide out of the assembly which is molded to the exterior door handle

It looks like you need to perhaps pinch the end of the yellow clip with pliers to get it to fit through, but i cant seem to get this to happen

I can detach the other rods ok, just this one is being a real sh*t
