Throming noise and Water in boot Gen 6 2.4 207 Camry

Hi gang. Been a long time. Going through a divorce, losing Tarago keeping Camry.

Some may remember me posting a long time ago about a really annoying "Thrumming" noise coming through the cabin at 60 to 80 Kph and worse in sweeping turns.

I recently drove with the kids to Melbourne from Sydney and back.

The little 2.4 is great on the open road and the kids had the new roof mounted DVD player to keep them entertained.

By the time I got back to Sydney the noise was a lot worse and even causing the dash to vibrate.

I had the car serviced prior to the trip and got the all clear but to be fair to the place that serviced it it was not that bad at that time.

A mate had checked it out for me and as was also suggested on this forum, believed it to be the left wheel bearing.

There was no play so he said save up and we can do it.

Under the car, this being an ex Budget rental car with 95 K on it when it was given to me, so it has had a hard life, the subframe on the lhs is damaged and probably from a hard curb smacking so that probably caused the initial damage.

Also the tyres I had put on only 12K ago are nearly toast, even though I had a wheel alignment.

Not happy with that.

Anyway, last week put the car in with John at APS in Richmond. 3 hours later, wow what a gem!

This car is whisper silent and I am kicking myself for living nearly a year with that racket.

They kept the outer race for me.

It was cipped and pitted in a few areas the hardening well and truly gone.

Only did the lhs and that popped me 300.

Well worth it.

Also had water in the boot around the jack and some in the spare wheel well.

Stripped out the boot lining last weekend, climbed in with torch and had number one son hose the buggery out of the rear window, tail lights, wheel arches etc.

Could see no water getting in.

I just applied silicone to a few bits that looked suspect, checked the seal and drilled a hole into the low point of the panel where the jack goes. Will keep you posted if you like.
