Hi all. have a 2001 model conquest, and has a tape player/ cd unit as factory standard.

I am considering removing the (double)unit and replacing with a single- DIN unit.

Question 1) One problem with the current unit is that it resets most mornings to 'SEC', really annoying! Could this be

a head- unit issue?..

Or the next thing to do would be to remove the whole unit and and replace it.

I have been told that removing the current unit involved removing the whole centre dash panel.

Question 2) Will the removal of the centre dash cause the panel not fit the same when re- installed into the dash?

Such as fit loosely? or not sit flush with the dash around it?

Thanks for any advice.

removing the centre dash panel is really easy. it's made up of just the black border plastic around the head unit and the ash tray/cig lighter. i take mine off with a flat head screwdriver and pry it off (carefully) so the clips pop out. i pry sort of near the top on each side to start it off.

once you've taken it off you should be able to access the head unit screws. it just pops back in after that and sits the way it always sits.
