Changing HIDs on Presara

G'day everyone. I'm really happy to announce it is possible to change the HID bulbs on a Presara without removing the bumper. YES, it was a pain in the axxe but with the right tools, it is definitely possible.

All you need to do is to remove the 4 screws that cover the back of the headlight unit, reach in to remove the bulb, replace it and then screw the cover back on. It took my friend and I about an hour to replace both bulbs. I read somewhere in this forum that if you're going to replace one bulb, you may as well replace both, otherwise the the bulb colours will be different. (By the way I bought the bulbs here: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Wholesale-Xenon-Lights-Store/_i.html?_fsub=896948012)

It's either the above method or:

1) Remove the entire front bumper to remove the headlight unit and then.... 'remove the 4 screws that cover the headlight unit, reach in to remove the bulb, replace it and then screw the cover back on'

2) Have Toyota do it - they quoted me $480 for ONE bulb, $960 for 2 plus $210 installation,

It is possible but a REAL pain in the A.s.s....

And for someone like me having hidden most of the wires and connections lower down and behind shiz its easier to remove the bumper and do it took me 1 hour to remove bumber replace low beams from 6000K to a 4300K kit and install the 6000K High beams+ballasts.

But each to their own :)

(most recent photo of that attempt haha)

Which bulbs did you buy?

Are the high beam bulbs behind that cover as well?

I bought the 4300's, I don't know too much about the different types of globes so I went with the same ones that were originally fitted and yes the high beam bulbs were behind the cover as well.
