How do you replace turn signal light bulb in side mirror

Hi Guys,

The little orange right bulb in my mirror does not work anymore, and upon closer inspection, the filament looks broken.

I removed the little plastic cover inside the cabin which exposed three 10mm nuts. They are no problem to remove. But the wire also needs to come out, and I cannot see any plug to unhook it. Does that mean I have to remove the door trim and trace the wire to where the plug is and unhook it from there?

Also after I do remove the mirror assembly from the door, how do I get access to the blown light bulb.

Does anyone here know how to dissamble the mirror for access to this little bugger?

Any help or links to step by step instructions would be highly appreciated.

cheers

Had a look at the service manual for mirror at the FAQ section and it shows that one can actually insert a special tool to hook the back of the mirror and pull it out. Has anyone done it ths way and is there a possibility of breaking the mirror or can one go ahead and remove this way as it seems alot easier to access the housing to replace blown bulb.

Would like reassurance from anyone who has tried this method and is safe to do so otherwise will try the other method mentioned above.

I could be wrong but the manuals are for the left hand drive Camry and both here and overseas have no indicator in the side mirror, Aurion mirrors are different because of that. When I swapped my mirrors over to power folding ones I could not see anything that 'hinges' out like it shows but I was only looking to work out the wiring for the glass adjustment motors so I did not look that hard.

OK folks,

I managed to replace the bulb.

For those that may need to do same in future you can use the following method.

If you look in the mirror section of the service manual in the Aurion FAQ section, it shows how to remove the mirror with a pulling tool.

I just pushed the lower part of mirror as far in as it will go, that way it gives you enough room to put your fingers inside the top of mirror, grip it and gently pull it out, it pops out pretty easily.

After pulling the mirror out, this gives you all the space you need to see where the rear plastic is held by clips, gently unclip each one of them with a flat blade screwdriver, and out pops the rear plastic cover. Make sure you are holding the rear plastic cover with one hand while popping the clips out otherwise it will just fall to the ground and get scratched or damaged.

After removing the rear plastic cover, you now have access to the 3 screws that hold the plastic housing for the bulb, these are torx security screws, I used no. 15 size torx screw driver to remove them.

Then just pull the bulb out from the housing and replace with new one or an LED type. The bulb is a standard size T10 5watt orange coloured type.

Installation is a reversal of above.
