Difference between CSi, Conquest etc.

Hello to all!

I'll be moving to Melbourne in a few months and am canvassing for a first car. I happen to like this particular Corolla model and well, my budget is in this range.

I tried looking at used car websites, and all I know is that the CSi is an entry-level variant compared to the Conquest. So what does the Conquest have that the CSi doesn't? I tried searching the forum as well, but to avail. Kindly help me out here.

i think the CSi is 1.6L engine with 13" wheels while the Conquest is equip with 1.8L 85kw engine.

I'm going for a 1.8-liter model with disc brakes front and rear. Is this the Conquest? I believe there's no AE101/102R Ascent, right?

All models with the 1.8l (7A-FE) have 4 wheel discs. To the best of my knowledge, the models go CSi, then Conquest, then CS-X, then RV, then Ultima. RV is Seca-only and Ultima is auto-sedan-only (info from a '94 copy of Wheels that I had lying around).

All models were available in 1.8l so yours could be anything. As per usual, most of the differences between variants are just specification :)

my dad has a prefacelift Conquest manual (95) and it still going strong.

Power and torque are the same in pre and facelift models. but the max torque in pre-facelift is at 2800rpm while the facelift max torque at 4800rpm...

Toyota didn't sell a Levin version of that model, you might be confusing it with the imported Corolla Sprinter (the first Corolla to break the $40G mark with a few options!)

No worries ... that's actually my 3rd-favourite shape Toyota, beaten only by the original AE86 Sprinter in 2nd and of course, that oh-so-classy shape of the current Rolla wagon! :P

I'll be getting a sedan, manual, definitely with disc brakes all round and hopefully with ABS and driver's airbag. It will also be a treat if I can go for the 1.8. I would have also wanted power windows all-round, but as far as I know, only the Ultima has that feature, and it's only available in automatic.

You'll only get those brakes with a 1.8l to the best of my knowledge. So it will be a treat after all :)

I need the rear disc brakes because of a possible engine upgrade in the future. Guess I'll be looking for a 1.8 then.
