Landcruiser 200 suspension upgrade opinions with GVM Upgrade, OME BP51?

Hi,

I am about to move to a new 2016 LC 200 (probably VX model with KDSS).

I am looking for opinions on the various GVM upgrades form those that have had them fitted, and particularly the OME BP51 option for those that may have this (with or without  GVM).

My scenario is: daily river typically, unladen, front bar with no winch, no drawer systems or anything over the top for standard extra weight, BUT will be used to tow a large boat, 3.5t 280-320 kg tow ball load. Includes 1000klm round trips of highway towing a few times a year etc. plus normal local towing (max. 200km). Also beach trips with some load/gear, camper in future, some light/medium 4WD touring in future.

I am very aware of the GVM process, GCM issues etc that come into play when towing at the limits of the vehicle.

My main issue here is to 1). improve suspension overall 2). ensure I have reasonable vehicle payload maintained when towing. 3). Light lift (50mm front, 20mm rear probably).

Options I have been considering are:

  • Lovell GVM upgrade (+500kg)
  • OME Nitro Nitro Charger Sport GVM (+280kg)
  • OME BP51 GVM upgrade (+280kg)
  • Any other suggestions??

I have had OME Nitro Charger Sport on a dual cab ute. I found it was money well invested, particularly on a new vehicle as it payed for itself over the 4-5 years I have had the car. Better on road (no load), vastly better up the beach or with a load etc. Thus the OME considerations. I realise they have less GVM upgrade, but that is really just to cover the tow ball down load on the vehicle when towing so it does not eat into the payload I would otherwise have. ie. leaves me about 610kg of payload (inc fitted accessories) with boat trailer attached.

Given the cost of a 200 (and likely time frame I will hold on to this for), it has helped me justify consideration of the BP51. Any comments from owners with these fitted would be really appreciated.

Just to note, GVM upgrade is considered critical, thus other options without a reasonable pre-registration GVM process are not being considered.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I am in the exact same position. Any advice? What did you go for?
