Hello again everybody,

Its me again, the owner of the 1997 LH125R Diesel Hiace Commuter which has a 2.8litre 3L motor.

Sorry to be a forum hog, but given that i will be crawling around under my van trying to solve my other issue of the low oil level light coming on despite having plenty of oil as outlined in my recent post, i thought i would float the other issue i am having which is a fuel gauge with a mind of its own, and see what advice or experience others might have to offer.

Basically, when i fill up the gauge reads full for a short while and then will drop to half or even zero etc. so i think it is probably the sender unit which resides inside the tank.

So, a few questions......

1. Are there new sender units available? I can't seem to find Hiace ones but get a few search results for Hilux ones...are they interchangeable?

2. Anyone had any success cleaning up and reviving a faulty one?

3. Does anyone have any experience dropping the fuel tank in their Hiace?

Thanks again, your input/advice is greatly appreciated.

Yours Sincerely.

Hi all,

just replying to my own post here.

I ordered a new fuel guage sender unit from Toyota and dropped the tank myself and installed the new unit and my problem was fixed. Fuel guage now working perfectly.
