Aftermarket headunit - am radio not working

Hi, I have a kluger 2008 kx-s .

 

I bought an aftermarket headunit (gps, am/fm radio, dvd). 

AM radio worked fine on my factory installed dvd/radio player. But in the aftermarket headunit, only fm works but no am.

I have plugged in the correct radio cable into the headunit but still no am.

Wife is not very happy....

The inbuilt amplifier may not be as strong as the factory one. You can buy inline amplifiers fairly cheaply, but I can't comment on their effectiveness.
