2014 Kluger power tailgate not working

Hello, I have a 2014 Kluger Grande. The power tailgate is working temperamentally. I've checked the glove box switch and rear hatch window but the tailgate works sometimes and sometimes gives me a long beep and unlocks the tailgate but doesn't move. Heaps of content on the Highlander in the US, some sort of class action going but nothing like that here. 

I'm at the point of changing the power to manual struts, anyone have any success fixing this problem or replacing the power struts with manual ones?

I had similar symptoms when my battery was failing. Once the battery was replaced I had no further issues. Maybe have you battery health checked.

Sorry to hear of your issues. I had similar issues with my 2011 Grande a year or so ago. First the tailgate started to close slowly, then work intermittently and not work at all in the end. It wasn't a battery issue as it was relatively new. 

Luckily I had insurance as to replace the motor and struts cost 3K at Toyota! 

If it is not the battery, it may be just the struts which have lost their 'strength' in working with the motor to lift that heavy tailgate. If it's not the struts, then you may need to change it to a manual tailgate as replacing the motor and struts is not cheap.

I did check the battery. Ran a ctek charger on it overnight, didn't change a thing. I love the lift gate but after these dramas and the cost of replacement I hate it.
