  1. hey guys was thinking of putting one of these on my ZR6...

    what do u think..?

I think u should fotoshop it and see how it would look... if you do put it on take pics and post it... where do u get them from?

there was an aurion with a bonnet scoop on carsales a while back... IMHO it made it look too much like a commodore... I'll see if I can dig up some pics when I get home in a couple of days

  2. I've used them on a few occasions.. I have no evidence that they work except to say on 4 trips from sydney to noosa at night, I've never once seen a roo but I have hit a few rabbits just across the border... I don't believe they actually work, but 'eh, for $7 it wasn't a big expense to try.

  3. Me and the missus are up on the sunshine coast ATM, so we'll be coming along to the meet if there are no problems with that... Keen to meet up with our QLD squad.

QLD is the place to be if you have an Aurion... unlike the Sydney squad that seems to be focussed around ZRE's :P

If you are coming from the Sunny Coast, just be aware not to expect too much. Our meets are nice and simple and can sometimes end up having only a few people turn up. It's just that the drive is a little on the long side and the meet might not leave you satisfied. Who would drive such a distance just for a meet  .

Not a problem mate... I'll be there...

  4. Well, I got the car back today, finally, heres what went down:

Drivers window leaks when raining - NFF not sure how they could not see water pouring into the window, but I'll take it up again next time

Drivers window makes alot of noise going up and down - Electric motor replaced

Centre Console lid flops about (does not lock into place) - Actually forgot to tell them about this one

Rattle in dash (third attempt at getting this fixed) - Have to rebook

Rattle in aircon - replaced vents

Rattle in overhead console (not major, but I complained about it while the car was there) - they did something, not sure, sound is gone

Cavitation noise in power steering even though it has high fluid level - NFF - never heard a healthy system make that kind of noise, but they claim it to be OK

Chatter in steering when nearing full lock at low speed. - NFF

Transmission flare (I was told there is a software update to fix this) - Replaced TCM Assy, haven't had a chance to check whether it is fixed or not

VVTI Oil Line (Got the recall notice) - Done

Shocks hiss over bumps, car dips in N/F/S over bumps (not sure if they'll tell me this is consumable) - NFF, shocks are apparently in good cond.

  5. So I dropped my car in at toyota (Terry Shields) today... The fellow was not impressed with the amount of complaints I had about the car... below is a list

    Drivers window leaks when raining

Drivers window makes alot of noise going up and down

Centre Console lid flops about (does not lock into place)

Rattle in dash (third attempt at getting this fixed)

    Rattle in aircon

Rattle in overhead console (not major, but I complained about it while the car was there)

Cavitation noise in power steering even though it has high fluid level

Chatter in steering when nearing full lock at low speed.

Transmission flare (I was told there is a software update to fix this)

VVTI Oil Line (Got the recall notice)

Shocks hiss over bumps, car dips in N/F/S over bumps (not sure if they'll tell me this is consumable)

I'm assuming they'll fix atleast some of these problems as I got a call at 4pm today to tell me the car won't be ready until late tomorrow. My usual experience is that a service is a same day thing with Terry Shields.

  6. As mentioned in another post here... My aurion has just hit 75000km and is due for it's third service since I've owned it... In the past I've had one done by Toyota and another done by an independant mechanic... I personally found that Toyota did a more thorough service in checking and adjusting the little things but I was wondering if this is just a case of a bad selection on my part for the last service

I have a quote from Toyota for this service of 430 which is about double what most mechanics have quoted and I'm leaning toward them based on the previous quality I have received from them...

So the point of this post... What is the opinion of tocau members on where to get the car serviced? I should also mention that it would be more convenient for me

to go to Toyota but not mandatory as I have some warranty issues I want them to fix

  7. I am with GIO. I find it funny that your wife works for NRMA and you use a different company.

Does anyone know if the Toyota Insurance is actually Toyota Insurance or is it another copmanies re-branded service? Like Toyota Finance is St George.

Few reasons for that... Firstly, they are way overpriced, even with the staff discount... I got quoted over $2000 to insure the Aurion. Secondly, It becomes painful to put in a claim when you're dealing with an insurance company your spouse works for (they seem to pay special attention to these even though I'd never put in a claim thats not on the level)

  8. Hi guys it's me again, I would like to ask something about insurance, the Toyota sales ppl were recommending Toyota insurance to me, i don't know if i should change or not, is it better compare with AMMI or NRMA? I'm currently with NRMA, but Toyota ppl told me when i got Toyota insurance i can get 3 year full new car price covered while NRMA only have 2, and Toyota insurance will use the genuine parts as well, they are also about $100 cheaper than NRMA.

Has anybody bought insurance with Toyota before? or anybody know how it's like compare to NRMA or AMMI?

Really appreciate your help. thanks in advance guys.

There are a few threads on Toyota Insurance...

But the most relevent information can probably be found here: http://www.ioi-sonpo.co.jp/en/comp_profile.html as they underwrite for Toyota Insurance. I've not dealt with them personally, but as my wife and her workmates tell me, the NRMA pay out on more claims. (she works for them)

Having said that, I'm insured with GIO and have not made a claim since switching from Shannons (painful!!!)

  9. what kinda P platers can buy these cars anyway? lol unless they have nice mummy and daddy

A P plater who knows how to save ;)

    I own my car. :)

As for problems with the cops... Only the occasional one that can't tell the difference between a TRD (Supercharged) and a Sportivo... Get left alone ALOT more than when I had my commodore.

  10. Hi guys been reading up on here about your Aurions for a few weeks now.

I have always had manual cars apart from my last car, and Audi A4 with an auto cvt gearbox. I had to replace the gearbox tcu at a cost of $4500

Now I know that the Aurion does not have a cvt but it is auto.

I have since sold the Audi and test drove a couple of Aurions and I am seriously considering buying one. An SX6 probably.

How bad is this gearbox ?

Would you guys buy another Aurion after the problems you have had?

I would really value some feedback on this, from Aurion owners rather than used car salesmen!

    thanks in advance.

I'd buy 10 more Aurions mate, they are a golden car..

Since my last posting, I've learned to live with the Transmission flare issue, it's only ever occurs on the first shift on a COLD morning and after 70,000km I've noticed no performance degradation in the transmission at all other than that issue.

  11. Actually guys, slightly off topic - Yesterday I took my Aurion for a run for the first time in about a week... cranked up the Aircon and noticed that there were some very acidic fumes coming from the aircon vents, has anyone had this problem? If so is there an easy fix or should I be taking this to toyota?

  12. Hey everybody,

Just a question about the airconditioning system. the other day it was about 23 outside and i switched on the A/C but it felt more cool than cold. i bumped it up to the max and still didn't get any chill from the system. but yesterday i drove the company toyota van (it was also 23 outside) and when on low fan speed i felt goosebumps. comparing the two id say the van was more or less the type im used to. im not sure if there is a problem with my A/C in my car but maybe i just need to re-gas it. any comments or comparisson with your cars would be great.

    cheers,

    Thim

yea i dunno just my personal opinion, i don't reckon the aircon in the Aurion is anything special. i was in my friends 05 Astra and it seemed much better in comparison to the Aurion

Got to remember that the astra has much less cabin space than the aurion... I've never really had an issue with the coldness of the aurion air con... I actually find that even on the warmest days the air con gets too cold... Especially in the foot wells
