  1. Hey toyota guys and gals,

Thought I'd start up a thread to see if I can gather any information on some stuff that I've seen around the place.

    First one: http://www.vortexexhausts.com.au/

Vortex Muffler.. ?? I saw an add in last year's Motor Hot Tuner magazine.  It is an Australian company based in Brisbane.  Their claims:

"The VORTEX high performance muffler easily outperformes all other high performance exhausts."

"No other exhaust system on the market gives a power increase like the VORTEX high performance muffler."

"The VORTEX muffler will change the way your car sounds, will increase your fuel economy by up to 25%, while offering you more power and better torque responses at the drive wheels - GUARANTEED!!!"

    As well as:

    Better heat dissipation

    Less exhaust pressure

    Less carbon build-up

    Longer catalytic converters life

So... Anyone heard about these?  or better yet.. Does anyone have one installed on their car?

    -Chompies

Are they really willing to put money where their mouth is?

I would be interested in testing their claim that "No other exhaust system on the market gives a power increase like the VORTEX high performance muffler."

STOP PRESS - Just called them directly. these 'muuflers' are not for petrol cars at the moment. They hope to have something out by christmas time though. Taipanxp is the company that have just taken over vortex and they are currently rebuilding the website also.

Their current range of systems are only applicable for diesel and turbo deisel applications :(

have a look at www.taipanxp.com.au to see the technology that is used and how they have only really delt with turbo'd or race cars :D

  2. i for one, never used to come here until i found that fun word game :P haha

your're welcome.. I've seen it in a couple of other forums as well as the 3 word story and they are always popular and you learn a bit about the other people through them too :)

speeking of which time to start another story I think anyone want to start the thread.. all that's needed is 3 words.. the last one turned out hilarious :lol::lol:

Can anyone make a transcript of the 3 word story and post it??

    Steve maybe??

  3. I suggest this to everyone.

Before you make a comment about someone else's driving, think about all the stupid things you have done.

THEN consider that, at the speed that we travel on the track, there's about 1/10 of space for error, hence if you've had no track experience, then i suggest you keep quiet and go try it for yourself.

Furthermore, i might not look much on the footage of how fast the car was travelling, it was speed of about 175-200km/hr.

It is the same concept and perception of how fast a car travels down the quarter.

Road car done up with street tyres weren't made to be doing that type of speed through that type of 'beating'.

MAP-81's experience that day was not in anyway shameful or to be laughed at.

Show some respect! As he was kind enough to show us the footage and allow us to learn from it! OTHERWISE! how about the people making comments show us how bad of a driver you are with the silly things you've done?!

    Take it easy out there.

(MAP-81 was sensible to push that hard only on the track, hence don't try anything at that speeds on the road.)

Speak to myself or anyone that participates on track events if you want to know more about the how difficult it is to drive in ideal race manner.

    Round of applause :D

  4. it moves the pivot point (ball) on the shaft of the gear stick to make the distance between gates shorter (as 1zz mentioned) it is also slightly shorter in height.

If you cut the stock shaft down to make it shorter, the distance between the gates is still the same. It also needs more effort to move the arm throguh the gates and especially into reverse.

  5. Yup that is taken on the M1 up here which goes from the gold coast to brisbane. We're doing 100-110 in there :) Although drew managed to p!ss off a particular statesman driver whilst he was taking the photos, whom gave him the bird and a no doubt said a few nasty words :(
