  1. Yeah the lag pisses me off, I think the person who designed the gearbox has to be fired. Here are some of the problems:

    3) Horrible lag, have to upshift by 5,500RPM when accelerating hard or else rev limiter is hit.

huh? mine will red-line every time i push it. Works fine for me. It's just a case of learning how to use it. B)

  2. There was a little bit of a story behind all this. First BLCKLABEL introduces himself to the board, showing off his grill he picked up in Thailand, then there was this massive search to try and find who sells them. apg39 considered the idea of custom making one, but this would have proved to be a little difficult.

Eventually a supplier was found and you can now order them shipped from Thailand like a few of us have. BONDIE was the one to find success in this method. It works out cheaper to buy in pairs and split the shipping with someone as well. Some threads of interest:

Just got in contact with Thailand

    Got the grills from Thailand

    Thanks again DJ! :toast:

  3. Hey guys. Are you running the amp and sub thru the sound system that comes standard with the Aurion? I was told i couldnt do it thru it... think was something about no where to "plug it in"?

Proir to getting my Auspack unit, I was running of the stock 6-CD MP3 changer. You simply just need a line out converter. For a subwoofer setup, you simply tap into the rear speakers then you run the RCA's from that to the amp.

Sounds easy enough... obviously the guy had NFI what he was on about. Cheers matey!

  4. A point about the handling...

My 19 x 245 Falken tyres keep the car like it's on rails. The handling was improved immensely over the stock wheels and tyres in terms of grip, but,

be aware that the ride on the Aurion Sportivo's is already very stiff and quite hard (which is good) so with the lower profile it does get a little bit more firm.

The biggest change is the torque steer and camber wander and the car following the ridges and ruts in the road. This is dramatically changed from the standard 17 x 215 tyres.

I like it but it can wake you up in a hurry if you relax and sit back in cruisey mode. I find that on rougher "b" grade type surfaces it requires full attention and two hands.

I kept my original 17" Mags and Michelin tyres and have them stored away. I will maybe put these back on before selling the car or sell them, but regardless of my comments I wouldn't change the set-up I have now as it makes for a very cool ride.

I really like the performance of the Falken tyres and have done 30k on them. I would definitely use them again when the time comes even though they are a little road noisy.

BTW the five (thinner) spoke mags like mine makes for easy cleaning!

    ----------------

Agree with everything you said PaulMT. Especially re the diff in torque and needing two hands! To me tho, makes me feel like i have to "drive" the car instead of just cruising around. And, yea... like she's on rails!! Is great fun!! Never even had a squeal out of mine, no matter how hard i push them. :whistling:

  5. Does anyone know the threshold that triggers the fuel warning light to come on?

Mine seems to come on with approx 20ltrs left in the tank which is about 150+ kms of driving

I get nowhere near 150kms?! When mine comes on i have approx 40kms to empty. But, i drive her pretty hard too! lol average around 11.5lts/100km

  6. Called my local Toyota dealer to test drive the TRD Aurion the other day, and was quoted $61,000 drive away. When he got hold of one, he called back and said TRD have dropped the price to $49,990 DRIVE AWAY!

Since then, however, i had a bit of a bingle - hit a traffic island @ 80 kmh (ouch!) and wrote off just about all the steering/suspension in my Aurion :( at a cost of $2500!

But, if i wasnt tempted before... sure as hell am now to buy the TRD!
