  1. Hi Everyone

    I have got a 94 model Holden Apollo 2.2L.

I would like to ask are they 100% to a Toyota Camry???

I'm looking for a suspension up grand!!!

any body had done it be4???

    Thanks

    should be 99.9% Camry

Go some springs (*lowered if you want) some good shocks rear sway bar and front strut brace if you have the money. I did Pedders stuff on the 1990 apollo I had and it made a great difference. There are better brands around though.

  2. Yeah going well I have not driven on them that much as was driving a corolla in Brisbane last week. I am getting loads of noise from the old ones at the rear. Will let you know if any issues with them.

  3. ok i was on my way home 2day and i parked my whip to go n get somethin when i got bsk i noticed my accelerator pedal was on the floor and i dont have a clue how to put it bak on theres like 3 pices to it

the pedal, a big weard spring thing, and a metal bar

i had a look but couldnt work it out so atm al im useing is the little accererator bar to drive

what i cant work out is the spring how it attaches

    please help..

ummm happend on my 1990 Camry. Put the peddle on lined up with the holes.

The bolt thing should slot through the holes.

There should be a clip that holds the bolt thing in place, If not check it at a used car yard or a mates car. Or take it to a practical mechanic. Dont mess with safety B)

  4. Just needed to vent about the environment vibe. Now I don’t care if your left wing right wing, rear wing or front spoiler but….. I think the light bulb idea for saving power is a bit silly for the following reasons

They wont fit down lights that I am aware of

It will cost more and therefore hit the student and lower paid workers

Some light fittings will not take compact fluorescents

While I think we should minimise our impact on the environment where we can with smart solutions I think this one is a bizarre one and not well thought out.

The fact that a Plasma TV uses about 200w more than and equivalent size LCD is a prime example of where we could encourage more economical models being bought.

There are plenty of other areas where more economical models could be encouraged and smarter ideas such as Air con at work that is not set too cold, more economical cars having tax breaks not 4x4’s. Maybe there is some nice GST to be collected.

Seems like no thought is really put into these things.

    Anyway that is my view

  5. From memory (I might be wrong) but it seems the Aurion ESP was not calibrated especially well on dirt roads. I think most of us drive on dirt roads slower and infrequently, but none the less maybe the software needs updating.

I find it possible that the Holden was set up specifically at Lang Lang where as the Aurion might have a slightly different calibration. I think if the Holden was taken to the Toyota test track other weakness may be revealed. Either way I think both cars are great but the Toyota would be my Head choice for value. I think an black Calais V with 19” would be my heart choice

  6. i got a freind his 206 gearbox have problem,he think need change gearbox

any ppl know where can get 206 2nd gearbox in syd??and have idea how much?

    cheers

Euro cars = gear box problems= $$$$$. 10 K for a VW, sometimes 12k for a French car new. Second-hand hard top get in my experience.

If you get a good mechanic they can check the wrecking yards. There are some cheap sourced from Japan. Where are you from?

  7. I haven't pushed them too hard but after a wet road in Perth they seem really good. The stopping with gentle pressure seems good. I only have 2 on so far. Just got to adjust those low Bob Jane pressures to see how she goes :P

  8. yeahhhhh see how you go.

my boss had a set of maxxis tyres on his EG XR6. His joked saying they are a classic drift tyre because they 'slip' all the time :S

they weren't too good for him and didn't provide very good grip. hopefully these are better but, I felt obliged to at least tell you the truth rather than say, 'yeah they are good!'

    :)

Were his the ones in the wheels test or the lower model? I think anything will be better than the Falkins according to the fully sik nissan boys site

  9. Just getting rid of 2 of the Faulkin tyres that were fairly naff and putting on 2 of the Maxxis MAV1's ( I think that’s them , came 3rd in the wheels tyre test a few months ago). Will let you know how they go. $253 a tyre for 235 40 18's (I think)

  10. Hard to tell the history of the car with a few kms on.

I would drop all the fluids and replace them (oil, radiator, brake fluid, gearbox fluid) and get the cam belt checked. Check the brake pads. The big one is the Cam belt. It gets replaced every 100,000kms and costs a lot to get replaced. Get this checked out as if it fails it will cost you a load.

You might want to check the plugs too.

Once all that is done get an oil change ever 10,000 or so. If you do all this your beast itl be good to you for some time :)

  11. Some observations after reading the article

How did the BMW 3 series qualify when it was just a coupe version of last years car, nothing new there

There was an obsession with boot lids, never had a problem with the one in my Camry , much better than in the old Torana and it never squashes my bike when that’s in the back.

The Aurion probably needs to get some fancier suspension (even if it handled the same) to get a better mark.

The Aurion has more power and torque than a WRX but uses less fuel and weights 200kg more. I wonder how that engine would go in a lighter car, fast and efficient indeed.

The Commodore is built for testing at the proving ground used for the test, maybe the Aurion would have shone on its own ground exposing weaknesses in the Commodore.

Weaknesses found along the way such as performance on dirt of the ESP may have been pointed out by Wheels staff before production. Toyota might not have had that as a benefit.

    Just my observations

  12. Looks out of proportion to me.

Some of the nicest versions of cars I have seen have been without a body kit. A black magna lowered with nice 19" on and a commy the same. Look clean and understated. Just my opinion.

  13. Aurion piped at the post by the much anticipated Commodore. What are your thoughts? Does long term reliability count. Odes resale value count? Does doing the job it was intended for mean anything. I am biased as old Camry’s always seem to work better than larger motored falcadores of yesteryear with their let-me think- a while before I change gearboxzzzes.

  14. Hello,

I have a 1995 Camry, 4 cylinder and I have a couple of problems that I can't seem to figure out.

    1) I have a rough idle when in gear but it goes away when in neutral.

    2) When I start the car when it is cold I must depress the accelerator as I turn the key and crank and I must keeping giving it gas for about 10 seconds after it starts or else it dies.

I changed the spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor so far.

What do you think could be the root causes of these two problems?

    Thanks

    Andre

Sounds like a bad air fuel mixture problem. Could be dirty injectors- try a gas treatment. Check hoses for leaks like air cleaner. maybe fuel filter too.

Also a clean can check of all the sensors for the computer might be needed. They might need a clean or are not connected correctly.

  15. I got it as a fleet car so paid very little for it (about 32k with no trade in). Was originally going to get the Camry but delivery was going to be in March. I lost the leather interior from not getting the Camry but gained 83kw which I am very happy about. I reckon that Toyota would do even better with the Camry Sportivos if they at least got 147kw from that engine but that is just my opinion.

I am not sure but I got alloys as my spare.

If I could get one for 32 I would buy one but with no fleet price it is not worth me changing.
