  1. if you have after market cruise it can be a problem (I think Cruise can be a big issue) if no crusie if might have just slipped over the guides or be a bit stiff.

my 1990 camry unhooked from the guide so the beads got caught on the outside of the guide (near the electronic sensors at the end of the cable). Check it out as you done want to get caught with throttle in go mode.

  2. it was for sale and he was drunk............

More Information can be found at http://www.3fl.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13936. "Car was not his - borrowed form Barbagallo's. (Major luxury car dealer in Perth) Guy blew 0.244 - had been having a session at the Windsor, decided to show off, Went to peel out left from the traffic lights onto Mill Point Rd pulling the finger at all the guys in the pub checking out the car, and understeered straight into the pole when traction control kicked in. Guy sitting in the Ferrari in the first photo of the crash, with his arm on the window sill, was the tow-truck driver." The actual car was for sale at Barbagallo:

IT'S a heart-breaking sight for car enthusiasts. This near-new Ferrari received an unwanted nose job when it ploughed into a traffic light in South Perth on Sunday.

Witnesses said the driver revved the Italian stallion at the lights next to the Windsor Hotel, at the intersection of Mends Street and Mill Point Rd, dropped the clutch and burned off around the corner – but humiliatingly lost control and slammed into the pole around 7pm.

Windsor manager Brian Hopley said the man appeared to be trying to impress bystanders in front of the packed hotel.

“He was waving at everyone in his new Ferrari, revving his engine up and making a big scene and he took off with a screech of rubber and went straight into the traffic light pole,” he said.

Another witness, a Windsor patron who wished to remain anonymous, said the driver tried to run from the scene but was pursued by security staff and patrons tackled by hotel security staff and handed to police.

“I just saw him run and a few of us gave chase,” he said.

"(The security staff) just chased him down and tackled him in the Windsor’s car park.”

Mr Hopley said he was astonished by how quickly pictures of the incident were circulated.

“I came to work this morning and got it off one of my staff members. I sent them to my wife, and she’d already received it from her daughter two minutes before,” he said.

“It was a nasty waste of a brand new car, but the guy was an idiot … much to the amusement of our patrons.

“It’s a funny story – nobody actually got hurt. “He got his just desserts I think.”

  4. remember to also

change the radiator cap when the car is cold, or you will get a nasty shock/ maybe even a few burns

Same when unhooking the Throttle Body hoses. Yeah, that was learned the hard way, and burned!

    Yes, change the cap.

The cap might not be put on properly or another overheating problem from what I can see. How is the temperature and the overflow tank going?

  5. No idea I changed the fronts and rears 4x50 w JVC and JVS 10"sub. Alpine head unit about $599 which conects to i-Pod. sounds not too bad.

I would change all the 6x9s for good 6x 9 at the front and 7 x 10 at rear (means you wont need a sub) and then a good amp. (Cheaper and good sound).

  6. I am not sure that Toyota has lost it and got so many problems. Every car has some. I think we have different Gearboxes here and also they could be upgraded software and hardware, one of the good things about getting models last is that most of those problems are fixed up.

Time will tell on my Camry but the 1990 had a couple of niggling problems then after that most people were getting over 300,000kms of trouble free motoring from them (I sold mine at 285,000) :yahoo:

Giving out 5 year warranties and selling off dodgy cars is going to kill off the company extremely quickly but we shall see. So far Toyota has been growing the market base based on quality for a fair price I don’t think they will go the other way or I will have to look elsewhere. :spiteful:

  7. MMm Having lived in both.

Perth is good but cooler and fairly windy, the drivers are very poor and houses are super expensive) gone up 30% in the last year) a 2 bedroom unit is like $350,000 its really hard to get anywhere to live. Its also a bit isolated.

Brisbane is more humid and warmer but has the advantage of being a cheap flight to eastern Capitals, Sydney Melbourne.

Perth has grown up a lot and has a fair range of visiting entertainers now these days. Its a big city and harder to get around. Perth is more like a big country town. Great beaches a short drive from the centre is also an advantage of Perth .....

There is a lot of Work in WA with the mining boom at the moment too.

Peth health system is fairly poo (like QLD was 10 years ago) Perth has not realised that its a big city, once it does things should improve. Lots of crazy local council rules and lack of facilities.

  8. There is hints of AWD still possible see John Mellor's guide. :)

The vibe on running costs and large wheels is that the tyres contribute loads to the running cost of a car and make issues of small increases in fuel consumption seem insignificant. 19" wheels might not look as good but at leas you can feed the family ;)

  9. Hi all,

Disappointed Camry sportivo manual now does not include basic maintenance like oil/filter change ...

Anybody knows any free website where I can get those instructions?

Something I would like to know are:

    - Oil filter is the same as previous model (checked in shop - could not find oil filter for Camry sportivo model).

    - Heard somebody said need tool for oil filter replacement ? ( with old Camry model I just use my hand ! )

    - Should we use full syn oil (5-30) - I used Castrol Magnetic (10-40) for old Camry ?

    - What is better replacement for Michelin types (205/65 R16) that is expensive. (without effect the car performace or safety)

Also noticed that new Camry sportivo does not need collant change for 10 years that is incredible!

    Thanks

I like the yokohamas in general. I have 18" wheels and Faulken tyres which are quite good. I did not like the original tyres especially in the wet.

  10. Mine had a sharp clunk when I first got it when you steered, it happened once a day took it back to Toyota at springwood bris where I bought it and they did zip.

Took it back again and it got fixed - they were reluctant to tell me what it was. some major part of the steering it sounded like. I was annoyed as they should have fixed it the first time and it could have been dangerous.

Now mine has a squeak in the rear, not sure what it is as I have new springs and sway bar but I sound like I am in an old crap car when I reverse. :whistling:

  11. welcome to the club

enjoy the stay, most people dont bite, hard! :P

Hey Pete i think he has ur car :P

Welcome to the club, happy modding :yahoo:

    Hi and welcome

I would go for CAI & K&N airfilter ( cold air induction and a better muffler maybe a sportivo one).

Then I would work on better grip , rear sway bar, 18" tyres and lower springs like sportivo ones or King springs. B)

    Rear sway bar 185$

    Springs around $500 fitted

    CAI around $400 fitted

    Muffler $400 fitted

    Wheels and tyres- 1000 +++

  12. Just come back from Cambodia, about 70% of the cars on the road are Camrys :)

They have extra lights on the back and some nice chrome bits, will see if any of my photos worked out. They have great Bling bits :yahoo:
