  4. just a quick update. been driving with engine light for about 2 weeks now and this afternoon while moving the car from car spots, turned on engine and engine light disapeared! i think maybe my ecu has finally adjusted itself? any thoughts? it might come back.. but im pretty happy it just went away LOL!
  5. hey pete, nah wasn't me i took train to work today so wasn't on the road
  6. i think this meet is more than what we had at annual meet in melb last year LOL :S
  7. Thanks man, appreciate it :) shin0bi, I've been living in the broady area for almost 5 years and I have never seen your car. I always come across the same Skyline's etc and the muzza's in there hotted up two door's. They are hard to forgot. edit: If I come on a meet up just be prepared to look at a stocky Aurion. My only mod's in the near(hint) future would be a system. hahaha where abouts in broady are you? near broady shops? dont worry mate, like tash said doesn't matter if its stock. its the company that matters lol so u up to meet up beforehand prior to sunshine on the 16th?
  8. shinobis from broady area :D Cool! More from here the better :P hey unique, we could meet up in broady area first on the day b4 we head to scumshine and wash our cars. my mate whose got stivo is from broady too so there will be 3 of us, unless theres anyone else from broady ghetto? let me know!!
  9. g'day xoom, ty for reply. the error code from the obdII scanner is p0171 yeah im kinda over it now. i dose it here and then lol. its just annoying to see the light.
  10. isa naice i likea very march... i likea dutcheeee ;)
  11. hey pete, nah i didn't ask i'll ask next time i go in ... so wierd lol but charlies is 08 n its fine..
  12. yeah mite do that just too see if it goes away..
  13. Probably turn up to a dyno day to see what the AFR is. It might actually be too lean, or it could just be the ECU being pedantic about a slight, but not critical, leaning out which could probably be worked around in some way. What do the Yanks do about the CEL on their CAIs? thanks dave, yeah i might end up doin just that... as for the americans, not too sure i'll look into that..
  14. was the chick hot saw a red 3500SL turning into station road from main road west this morning. he let it rip (dunno if he full throttled it), sounded really sweet. Both of them must of been pretty, cause my gf said to me "stop gawking at the car" as a hint to me to stop looking at the 2 nice asian girls inside the car. I think she would of given me a pair of unwanted blackened JDM eyes :P lol with red (non-flashing) centres more info on the car, not lowered anything else apart from the "decorative" stuff :P i'm lucky my wife lets me look at other girls and comment on them :) wtf i saw the same red 3500SL again, he lives in st. albans? i think i know which trd aurion u guys are talking about. that guy is a photographer. he did wedding shoots for my cousin. his name is trung. dont tihnk he is on the forums. he lives in st.albs
  15. UPDATE: after waiting 1 hr and a half at toyota to get the o2 sensor replaced.. turns out they couldn't get the o2 sensor out because it was too hard to get out and as a result did not continue to try as they were afraid it might snap trying to get it out. so they are going to replace the entire exhaust manifold which will have a new o2 sensor in it, so they are going to order the manifold and i guess i'll have to keep driving with the engine light on... not too sure if replacing the manifold will resolve the issue.. will keep you guys posted! tom
  16. the problem is the engine light and picking it up with error code p0171, - running lean. we want to get rid of engine light and are doing whatever it takes to get rid of it but at a small cost. i've looked at piggy back ecu's but dam they are like $450ish. resetting ecu clear the problem for a day but then it comes bak and becomes laggy. sounds like stock ecu's can't be tuned. johnny i asked my mate and he sed his pretty certain you cant. so yeah i hope toyota comes up with a solution to fix the engine light today!! fingers crossed!
  17. was the chick hot saw a red 3500SL turning into station road from main road west this morning. he let it rip (dunno if he full throttled it), sounded really sweet. Both of them must of been pretty, cause my gf said to me "stop gawking at the car" as a hint to me to stop looking at the 2 nice asian girls inside the car. I think she would of given me a pair of unwanted blackened JDM eyes :P lmao thats gold!
  18. weird how you installed cai and your exhaust without any light so far.. jskills has engine light on and off after getting a high flow cat... just wierd...
  19. spotted black stivo with eyelids, 18 inch wheels, full kit, wingtips, and some kind of decal on the front lip i think. spotted on railway pde in camberwell next to the coffee place/vicroads/camberwell train station parked in 1 hour payzone. very nice agressive stance (Y)
  20. thanks for the input silvabullit & dutch its really frustrating.. knowing that charlies got it right and hasn't had a problem after just cleaning the maf. dont know where exactly the problem is.. here i thought it was it was the best money spent on the car so far may as well will be the worst.. thanks. tom.
  21. to all, the maf sensor can only put on one way with this injen cai. the silicon tube has a few specs of dust and particles on it but can these things trigger engine light? - if it does then i'll take it out and give it a nice wash. the pod itself has some oil on it but just the cap end, the rest seems fine. but just in case i'll probably give a non oil-pod a try and see how that works. i've cleaned the maf with electrical contact cleaner like 5 times now. i use 98 ron. resetted ecu like 50 times now. and still engine light comes on. its a big pain in the butt.. toyota will conduct some test on my car this friday and we'll see if they can get it resolved once and for all. like i said before, too many variable solutions. just another thing i read on some random forum, some guy installed his injen cai on some other car and had the check engine light come on, he claims that putting on the hydroshield fixed his problem.. we tried that. no work lol too many variable 'solutions'... getting sick of this engine light....
  22. RE: and1 we havn't tried that, we'll give that a go RE: kenneth it came pre oiled like theres abit of oil on the pod cap u can see it and feel it. and thanks for the input!! appreciate it!
  23. G'day brian, i've been using 98 ron before the cai install. johnny is using 91 ron atm so maybe something he could try out. problem is there seems to be too many variable solutions. RE: dutchie the maf sensors can only be put on one way so yeah its all correctly installed. UPDATE: myself and johnny just did a total reinstall on ours made the silicon tube fit nicely without and dimples and put the hydroshield on and reset ecu again. so far engine light is off.. will update again soon....
  24. Even with a slightly over-oiled filter, it shouldn't foul up the MAF that fast to throw a code as quick as it did. I'm having my doubts that the oil from the filter is causing this. I've had a filter before that had a bit of excess reside on it (nothing abnormal) and it didn't have any effect on the MAF. I also highly doubt that simply changing the intake will make the engine run lean all of a sudden. You have to introduce much more air than a simple intake is going to provide for it to run lean. I would be thinking that there could be something to do with the placement of the MAF. If the airflow past it isn't suitable for the MAF, then it won't be reading the airflow properly and can throw a code. The thing is, others seem to have no issues with it. Could it possibly be a variation in production? I dunno. The best place to start though would be to find what the error code is. That gives a point of reference to work off. hey darrel, regarding your responses, the error code toyota gave me was p0171 which is System Too Lean (Bank 1). after days of researching and what not, there's many things people have mentioned on forums all over. 1. excess oil on the pod itself - which may be the case.. 2. reset ecu - but doesn't seem to work i've tried this like 5 times and the 'check engine light' comes on regardless after an hours drive or so.. 3. too much airflow, ecu not used to it.. 4. system running lean therefore will damage engine inside out. 5. vacuum leaks, loose connections, air leaks - i've reinstalled the cai and am sure all connections are tight and secure... 6. leaving it and eventually the 'cel' (check engine light) will dissapear 7. cleaning maf sensor with cleaning agent - again i've done this and after about 1 hour of driving the 'cel' comes on 8. toyota checked my car and sed the o2 sensor is faulty or may have been stuffed but wasn't sure if it was due to the cai so they said they want to run tests on it this friday coming up and replace the o2 sensor.. few other things but all of these negative things seem to compounding upon myself and johnnie and soon peter (lol). any input wiould be greatly appreciated! tom
