  1. Have you checked with another dealer? I needed a fitting template for my front parking sensors after after a crash repair. The template was only a sheet of paper which you cut out and then placed on the body to position for drilling out the holes. I went to the parts department and they were able to email me the PDF version of the template which they accessed through the dealer network. If the template is the template is a sheet of paper rather than a plastic or metal item you should be able to get it. Alternatively you may just need to pay to have a dealer install it.

  2. I have the rear 2010 rubber floor mat in my 2008 KX-S Kluger. It is almost a perfect fit except for a few minor areas. The seat mounts and a few other minor areas must be 10-15mm different in a couple of places. I've included some photos below.

    Overall rear mat.

Rear mat around centre console. The 2010 kluger must be slightly narrower in a few dimensions here.

Front seat mount clash with rubber mat. This is really minor, and the mat naturally adjusts so that it only impacts one corner.

I don'have the toyota mats in the front, just some Road Gear deep dish mud mats which I picked up from SCA. They fit pretty well although I had to trim the corner off under the accelerator pedal as it was preventing me from full depressing it.

  3. I noticed that the dealer delivery fee was not included in the contract to buy that I have signed in. Any idea on how much it cost?

If it's not listed in the contract then depending on the actual wording you may be entitled to refuse to pay it. I suggest you contact your state's office of fair trading and local motoring club (RACQ, RAA, RACV, etc) for advice first before paying anything. The dealer could have made a mistake which will save you some money.

  4. Hey all..

First post so go easy! (And apologies if this has been asked before.) I'm about to purchase a 2010/2011 KX-S AWD for the family, and I'm wondering if anyone here has replaced the CD with a GPS/DVD unit. Like the Polaris, Alpine, Pioneer, etc.. units. If so is there anything I should look out for, or any units that are better than the rest? I want USB, iPod, Bluetooth, Sat/Nav and so on..

    Cheers and thanks

    Trav.

Have a look at the following threads:

    Fly Audio GPS DVD Install

    flyaudio easypark kluger gps review

I was thinking of getting the Alpine DVD player later on down the track after seeing one installed in the Kluger at the showroom.

I opted against it as I was pretty sure that when the screen is down you lose your rear vision.

I'll stick to the headrest mounted ones I think.

    Rock

With the factory roof mounted DVD players you will lose rear vision, but the alpine doesn't protrude down as much. See this post for pictures.

  5. To access the phone functions you need to press the green handset button, then turn the tune knob to choose the option, and press the tune knob to select. The green handset button also answers calls. The red handset button gets out of phone mode completely and hangs up a call.

To pair a phone you need to:

    1. Press the green handset button
    2. Turn the tune knob and select BLUETOOTH
    3. turn the tune know and select REGSTR PHONE
    4. It should display HANDSFREE.
    5. Scan for bluetooth devices on your phone
    6. Select HANDSFREE from the list of devices
    7. The pin code will show on the radio display and enter it into your phone.
    8. The radio display will show WAITING and then COMPLETED once connected
    9. Press the red handset button to exit the phone mode.

You can change the bluetooth pin somewhere under either BLUETOOTH or SETTINGS.

You can pair multiple phones although you need to manually select which one to use. This occurs under BLUETOOTH->SELECT PHONE

The unit will not download and store your phone's address book, however you can assign up to 6 speed dial numbers by using the 1-6 keys on the unit. There is a setting under PHONEBOOK somewhere. When entering names and numbers you will need to hold down the Tune button once the last number/characted is entered.

There are two ways to make a call:

    1. Dial the number from your phone to initiate the call. The call should transfer to the handsfree once it starts dialing.
    2. For the programmed speed dials, hit the green handset, press 1-6, hit the green handset.

To end a call either disconnect with your handset or use the red handset button on the unit.

Turning the volume button during a call changes the speaker volume of the call.

There are some other functions, but you will need to explore the menus.

The handsfree functionality is pretty basic.

You can only access the calling functions for the handsfree when the vehicle is in motion.

    Hope this helps.

  6. Had mine replaced on Friday. Voice doesn't cut in and out anymore, but am told I sound like I'm talking right up against the microphone. Replacement unit is the same as the old one but with updated firmware.

  7. Raised the issue regarding terrible audio on other end of the line with the bluetooth handsfree in my KX-S today at the service. I was told the unit was checked and a replacement with updated firmware was being ordered. I was advised the test method was to use a iPhone 4 to check call quality. Given the recent events in Japan, parts are at least 6-8 weeks away.

  8. It may fall under the misleading and deceptive conduct provisions of the trade practices act. Just keep pestering them and take it up with the office of fair trading. If you become a big enough pain then maybe they will just swap it over to get rid of you.

  9. We spoke with Toyota today while in picking up our rubber cargo mat and they've quoted us $55 for the front mats and $43 for the back. Are you sure that $36.90 wasn't a typo? Our parts dude reckoned that there is no way they could do them that cheap. We didn't have the parts number with us but will be calling him back tomorrow with the above number. It almost seems to be too good to be true at that price so thought we'd query it. lol

I've checked my credit card statement and the 2nd row mat was only $39.60 from SciFleet at Kedron. I didn't buy front mats as I preferred the deep dish mats from SCA as IMHO they provide better coverage behind the pedals.

  10. sorry dude,I meant 5seat,fwd.I wouldve loved an AWD but dont think it will come in the budget. It has been ages since I drove a landcruiser, yes it wont be a problem.I was just wondering for my missus. They find it hard to park big vehicles. Its just a mindset that big vehicles are hard to park.Fact is that, its harder to find a space everywhere to park them compared to smaller vehicles.Ta

But bigger vehicles also have other opportunities for parking spaces at shopping centres such as concrete islands, etc, where a smaller vehicle would scrape its under body getting on to

  11. Toyota have now included front and 2nd row rubber floor mats in their range of accessories for the 2010 facelift Kluger.

    kluger-accessories-all-weather-rubber-floor-mats-620x349.jpg

I ordered the middle row set and confirm they fit in the older 2007-2010 models quite well apart from the section under the seats, which appears a tad too wide. It is only minor and doesn't realy detract from the function of the mat and is a much better fit than the generic SCA mats which need to be trimmed to size. Cost was $39.60 including GST. Part number on invoice was PZQ20-48150. Just make sure you get the correct set if ordering, as they originally ordered a set for the older 2003-2007 Kluger.

  12. The unit that comes with the pre-facelift KX-S is pretty ordinary, but it is worthwhile followng up with your dealer. Not sure how far you'll get.

Do you have the audio controls for the unit on the steering wheel? There should be volume, preset and mode controls on the left face of the wheel (note the picture below is of a Grande as I couldn't find one for the KX-S. Main difference is that the three buttons controlling the bluetooth handsfree won't be installed).

  13. I've arranged one through my local Toyota service centre in the past. The car was provided for free, but I was required to pay approximately $30/day to cover the insurance during the hire period.

The vehicle has typically been a Camry with advertising for the dealership plastered all over it.

  14. Enjoying the new KX-S AWD but we get a damp smell through vents at start up that only lasts 20 sec or so.

Very dry here in Adelaide so I'm guessing it's from the A/C.

I've also noticed the usual drip of water you get from the condenser comes from the back of the car not the centre as with the old Kluger. Do our Klugers with rear A/C have two compressors, front and rear?

Anybody else noticed this damp smell we get or do I have a blocked A/C drain?

    Cheers,

    Michael.

I get condensate discharge form both the front and back with my 2008 KX-S as it has two units. If you don't have any discharge from the front then the discharge pipe could potentially be blocked causing the condensate to overflow into the front passenger foot well. You may not notice it if you have floor mats installed. This could be causing the damp smell and next time you run the a/c check the footwell for dampness.

  15. I recently had my front bumper replaced due to a car accident and have noticed that the front parking sensors have been installed in a slightly different location to where they originally were.

When the dealer installed the sensors they appeared to be above the centre of the fog lights. The new sensor location installed by the smash repairer is probably 50mm closer to the centre of the car.

I'd appreciate if anyone with dealer installed sensors could have a look and compare their location to mine below, which shows the original installation.
