  1. pretty big for 6". Your right didn't proof read before posting, should have been 205/50x16" now edited above.
  2. I'm running 205/50x16 tyres on Spotivo 6" rims and the outside diameter was the same as the stock 195/60x15 tyres. Cheers Col.

  4. I have a 05 Levin that I changed the stock 21mm hollow rear bar for a Whiteline 22mm solid rear bar and it made quite a difference to how the car handled, still on stock springs and shocks. The handling is much more neutral and flatter. The bar was quite easy to replace, just those 2 bolts although the Whiteline bar was about 1mm short as I just couldn't get the bolts back in, so had to heat the bar up (sun and boiling water) so that I could get the bolts through and it was easy after that.   5. The ZZE# corolla's aren't independent rear suspemsion anyway they are Beam axle and the black rod inside the U shaped beam is the factory anti sway bar. The "Beam" axle acts very much like the solid diff housing found in a lot of early corollas and is cheap to manufacture.
  6. I agree with SuperDave on the handling benefits, just fitted the whiteline rear anit sway bar (22mm) to replace the stock rear bar (21mm which must be hollow given its lack of weight). There is a definite difference for the better in how the car now handles. I was looking at the TRD 23mm unit (wonder if it is hollow to) but then the whiteline one turned up cheap so I snapped it up and love it, best $150 I've spent on the car. The rear bar on these cars is similar to how the early Holden toranas and HQ holdens fitted rear bars that only connected between trailing arms and had no separte connection to the bodywork like most bars these days and how the fronts work on the corolla.
  7. Firstly Happy New Year evryone. I know this is an old thread but thought I would ad my views and other info re my new 22mm Whiteline rear swaybar. Firstly aside from what some people say about these when used with stock suspension, there is a noticable difference in how the car now handles and steers. Both for the better. But I did have a little fitting problem. Aside from the torque settings which need a pipe on a breaker bar to both undo and tighten the new bar wasn't quite long enough for the bolts to fit. Then I remembered an old trick I've used to fit bearing collets on old Holden (pre 78) axles with out a press. We would place the collets in saucepan and boil them for about 5 mins then remove from pan and slide them down a cold axle wait a couple of mins for the collet to cool, a final tap to make sure it was secure and the collet would have cooled and shrunk to a tight interference fit. Never had one let go. Back to the rear sway bar, I placed it in the sun and also poured boiling water over it and after about 20mins in 30+ summer sun and a few jugs of boiling water the bolt holes lined up. Did need gloves to pick it up and push into the cross beam. Cheers.
  8. A little update. I recently picked up a whiteline BTR77 22mm rear swaybar and I have to say what a difference. Bodyroll is so much less and steering feels more positive. When I picked it up I thought how much difference wouild a 22mm bar make over the std 21mm bar. Well as soon as I removed the std bar I realised that the std bar might be 21mm but it is a tube not solid like the Whiteline bar. I had been toying with either the Whiteline or a TRD 23mm bar, but if the TRD bar is hollow like the std bar then it may work just the same. If the TRD bar is solid then it may make a little better feel over the Whiteline. Anyway got the Whiteline for a great price so won't be changing. Cheers, Merry Xmas and/or Happy Holidays to all.
  9. I have the Sportivo axle back exhaust fitted to my 05 Auto Levin and didn't notice any loss of bottom, sounds better outside the car but still quiet inside. Just changed the flange over for a bolt up fit, they bolt up in the same place and the sportivo muffler looks better with the chrome tip and is still all Toyota.

If you only putting the same type and size of engine back in you only need to take to an inspection place that can do blue slips (old name) and show them the new engine number which they record on the blue slip and you take that to the RTA. They might even do it at the inspection place over the internet. Last I heard about $50.
  11. Thinking maybe some minor suspension work 15-20mm lower and better shocks. Our last N14 2.0 Puslar was too low and ripped the exhaust clean of the cast iron manifold and even though we got to fit extractors and good exhaust the car never quite felt right, being an auto it just lost too much bottom end. This one too is auto for sitting in sydney city traffic.
  12. Hey evryone Thouht it about time posted some pics of our daily driver Levin. It's un 05 upgrade model with full factroy body kit and tinted windows. Recently fitted some reverse sensors and the silver was so close didn't bother to get them resprayed. Mainly for looks we have fitted 04 Stivo wheels/205/50x16 Federal tyres and Stivo axle back muffler and chrome tip (thanks Dugong). SW
  13. Thats correct, I don't want lower it so was wondering if the stock sportivo springs would be better than the std Levin springs. It just that lately I have noticed a few people selling their old stock sportivo springs and wondered if they would benefit my Levin.
  14. Just wondering how 2zz sportivo springs would go on a 05 Levin with std shocks. I don't want to lower it as this is a daily driver and lots of speed humps and steep angle driveways around my area. So I was thinking of just fitting sportivo springs as road reports say the sportivo handling is much better than that of the std 1zz corolla. I know the sportivo shocks are probably better than std but I just want to know if the sportivo springs are better/stiffer etc than std springs.
  15. The exhaust looks great, tips fill up the cutouts nicely I think. It's funny how people keep talking about how illegal these are but have they thought about how illegal most straight through systems are as most (not all) are above the legal decibel limit. The varex is usually no louder when open than most after market open exhaust but at least when the cops are around it can be as quiet as stock. As for back pressure when closed the inlet and outlet hole feeding from the reverse flow chamber on a 2 1/2" is nearly 2 1/2" but because its on the side it looks really small. People who bag these varex mufflers should have a look before they talk about something they actually know nothing about. SW
  16. What is the difference in sound between the various modes of the Varex muffler. Are they really silent in silent mode and does it strangle performance much when in this mode.
  17. I just read this thread from start to finish and you.ve done a great job with the looks and the performance mods. good work. Did you ever get any dyno readings with the Vari/muffler open and closed, only found the one dyno posting unless I over looked it. Cheers SW.
