  1. That does look quite nice there VF-X. Question is though, what tires is he running. He may be fine in Malaysia, but that could be unroadworthy over here.

    More to gawk over:

that's a sweet-lookin kit - anybody know what it's called? looks less chunkier/angular than the Wald job but i think it complements the aurion lines perfectly

  2. i tend to only leave it in D mode (unless i feel the caravan in front of me deserves to bite my dust)

i've driven many tiptronic/sequential-style autos before and IMO the aurion 'box is quite disappointing compared to other non-DSG variants in terms of sheer control and response because it is something you'd prob expect from 10-15yrs ago... maybe they are designed that way due to the vast amount of torque to preserve its longevity against 'enthusiastic' driving?

  3. not having much luck searching for these... anybody know where i can get aftermarket woodgrain kits to replace the silver panels on the aurion's interior centre console and door handles? appreciate your input thx

There is quite alot of them on ebay, not sure whether it is the same as they are for camry...

Seems like no one has done anything to their console yet..

yeah saw them ones also but because they're for US-spec camry's, i'm not entirely sure they'd fit (for one, their shifter surround is flipped the other way coz they're LHD so it won't suit our RHD models)... also, although they look the same i don't know if there are any subtle differences in its dimension between the Camry and the Aurion??

  4. i think for a 200kw FWD car in stock form (complete with full interior and stock tires), i'd be happy if i can score anywhere between 1:14 - 1:18 (if you think about it, FWD production races were getting around 1:10's or under with slicks back in the ol' days) not sure if there has been any changes to the track layout in recent years but then again there are many factors affecting lap times as you know (track temp/wind/track cond etc)

Well, I've done 1:17s in the Aurion last year with everything stock including tyres + a baby seat in the back - I believe it can get down to around high 1:15s - So thats your decent time for the Aurion :P Wanna go now?

    no, not really... :P

wouldn't mind a weekend getaway in NSW if you paid for my airfare and accomodation though lol... I'll be there to cheer you on (might net you an extra second right there) ;)

  5. i think for a 200kw FWD car in stock form (complete with full interior and stock tires), i'd be happy if i can score anywhere between 1:14 - 1:18 (if you think about it, FWD production races were getting around 1:10's or under with slicks back in the ol' days) not sure if there has been any changes to the track layout in recent years but then again there are many factors affecting lap times as you know (track temp/wind/track cond etc)

  6. It may not be the best suited car, but it surely doesn't mean it can't perform. These cars can get pretty respectable numbers when you compare it to other sedans out there.

there's no question about its performance darryl, i just think that the current transmission does not do it justice... perhaps they should consider DSG or manual in the next model release? that'd be interesting! :-)

  7. What fuel you use: RON91 Regular Unleaded

How many Km's you get to a tank: 530kms

What your Avg 100km/L is: 11.3

What sort of driving is this based on: 35% 80kph constant flow, 35% stop/start, 30% 60kph constant flow, 3-4 days a week only, rarely floored/thrashed (i have a baby in the car on most trips)

  8. not wanting to throw dirt on the aurion (since i own one myself) but unless you're only interested in honing your driving skills, i'm not sure if the aurion 6-spd is well suited for a relatively technical track like wakefield to achieve decent lap times... it's very slow to shift in manual mode (so on the main straight you are basically losing a few good tenths already) which is also prob made worse by the fact that it is a very heavy car for a powerful FWD

that said i would really love to see somebody strip the guts out of the aurion and turn it into a touring-car style racer (thinking back of the good ol' days when FWD Volvos/Hondas were giving the RWD Beemers & Quattro Audis a run for their money)

oooh, think i just had an einstein moment then! ;-)

  9. i was toying around with the idea of debadging the rear bootlid as well myself but i noticed that the the area surounding the badge had been 'bezelled' into the panel itself, so even if you remove the badge perfectly, it'll look odd coz you can still clearly see an oval 'indentation in the bodywork of the boot itself (hope that makes sense it's 3am lol)

  10. ^ Did these help DUB,for what reason did you need these pics?

aaaaw mate you're a legend! THANKS mate

i just wanted to know/see how much clearance with +45 offset wheel (and see whether i can get away with a +40 or +35 offset instead)

looks like barely enough room for a whisker the way it is now!

  11. couple of pics...20x8.5 +45 offset & 245/35/20

1stkill, could you take more photos of your rear wheels from the side? more specifically i'd like to see how much gap is between the outer side of the wheel and the guards itself (ie: to see how much it sticks in/out, if you know what i mean)

    thx!

  12. yerrr bro, my Aurion is fully sick it canes VE Clubsports and smokes all over Evo's... even my cousin's fully worked STI got its ***** whipped by my stock 'zorst, watch out my ride is a killa look how big my wang is

    pffft... grow up FFS!

i agree with djkor, this thread sounds a lot like a kiddies field day on the hot4's forums...

i say delete this nonsense thread

  13. i showed my wife the auspack unit for the aurion on the website last night and she loved it (guess it's a signal to buy? ;-))

some questions though - are you able to browse and play mp3's/avi's from the USB slot? does it handle hierarchical folders?

also, with the handsfree bluetooth feature that comes with the unit, how sensitive is the microphone (does it sound muffled/distant/noisy on the other end of the line?)
