  1. Sorry to whinge guys, but I need to vent.

So, I was planning a trip to QLD on friday night for a week. Taking the missus up to go to her best friends wedding. All week I've had this bad feeling about driving during the week (Not because I don't want to go, really looking forward to it actually) It has been the same feeling of dread I've had just hours before every car accident I've ever been involved in, its wierd, like a feeling that I /should not/ be driving.

Unfortunately I simply cannot not drive. I have to get to work somehow.

Anyhow to cut to the story, I was coming home from work, went to pick my mother up so I could pick up the lawn mower she laybyed for me (I moved in to a new place 4 months ago and thought it was about time to do the lawns) got all that done and left the shopping center unharmed. As I was waiting in traffic I heard a loud bang, took me a few minutes to realise but I had been hit up the rear by a Ford Telstar. The guy was fairly cooperative but wouldn't move his car out of traffic, so we quickly exchanged details and I went home. The back of the Aurion is pretty badly scuffed up and the bumper is completely buckled and most of the clips/mount points have broken off.

Now, this isn't the most horrible thing ever, I am comprehensively insured with Shannons (This is the annoying part)... I called up to make a claim (the first I've ever made with them) and was told it would take upto 2 days for the assessor to contact me to arrange to see the car! I'm leaving for QLD on friday (doubtfully now) and don't even know if they will even assess the car before then. It is completely, 100% drivable but apparently they cannot gaurentee they will repair the car without excess unless they atleast see it within the next two days.

The really annoying thing is that their assessment centre is in chatswood (I had not known this when I insured my Patrol with them) so I will be without my car for some period of time. I have my choice of repairer, but it will take atleast 3 days from the time of the quote for the assessor to inspect it!

Anyway... GRR... Overall just really peeved that my baby is hurt.

crappy service man.im with shannons havent made a claim in 5yrs(thank the car gods)so i hope i dont need em.might be time to look HARD at the fine print on my policy and see just where i stand.anyway hope ya babys fixed soon.

  2. I know its wrong section but did anyone see that black sportivo turbo charged camry on ebay 2007 model.

    Azza

    This one?

    Saw it at Autosalon

yeah its bit rough but in terms of turbo I didn't think it was possible yet

WOW havent seen one like that before looks a bit weird but has 1 or 2 nice mods the TURBO oh and the TURBO.

  3. The Toyota Aurion does use a CAN bus communication (ie. twisted pair digital communication) system for various modules in the car. When it comes to the headlights though, there is no system in place to detect whether a headlight or tail light has blown and/or gone open circuit for any reason. Using any HID ballast will not disturb the electrical system in the Aurion.

thx man on answering my question.( i gotta learn where to post or is there a membership to be paid that i dont know about ,is this why i cant start a topic please advise so i can rectify thanks)

  4. can someone please tell me if the 08 ATX model has a CANBUS electrical system.im not sure which balast to install.im a little confused but it thinks its got something to with showing globes out on the dash.problem is i havent had a globe blow yet.anyway if anyone knows the correct answer i will be CLAPPIN because the install can begin. :help:

this is my 1st post i think im might had overidden someone elses post by mistake and sorry if i have but im a newbie on forums so if ive made a mistake please point me in the right direction :whistling:

  6. Hi, I have a 07 Aurion Prodigy with around 25k running the default Dunlop tyres.

Recently i notice screeching sound from the tyres when i do a 90 degree left or right turn at reasonable slow speed. I can't reproduce this effect consistently though. I had checked the tyre threads, pressure and didn't find anything unusual.

Any suggestions on what else needs to be checked ?

    Regards.

    maybe an alignment

  7. I was had a sigma i named boris :lol::lol:

na its ok to name em they mean alot to people like us.anyway i had a peugeot called pugzilla and a BA xr6 called Hungry(always needed something done or purchased glad its gone)names are usually personal and not many non car heads understand ie my missus(no name for the Aurion yet we will see what it turns into the near future after all mods are done)

  8. Lol. The only (expensive) way Ill know for sure is to get them & try I suppose.

I can always break it up with whitewall tyres?

Growing less keen on them. I want something gunmetal.

if ya havent had a look yet try TEMPTYRES.COM.AU nice range and plenty colors and sizes rims only tyres are a bit suspect they deliver anyware and fast no damage ive used em a copla times now no dramas

    sorry TEMPETYRES.COM.AU missed the e

  10. 313 you still unhappy with your nankangs?

    whitetstivo

no i think there good but they are loud, at 100 fairly load, around corners dont loose traction but are loud, braking is great and so is traction on acceleration, but for 30 profile they are reasonably soft so the ride isnt that harsh. Also alot of people said they last ages so time will tell.

BUT...they are the only tires in 30 profile that complies with that load rating on the aurion, otherwise i would have gone another brand

They are loud cause there a performance tyre and is road directional you will find most of them are loud.

i run yokahama advance sport 103 245/35/20 on 20'' x 8.5 fox rims lowered 40mm allround the only scrub is big dips in the road they tend to bottom out sometimes no inside rub a good 2'' clearence but that maybe my style of wheel and no rub on full lock.there aint many good tyres but if ya got da bucks $550.00 to $750.00 each will give you a great ride on almost oem noise and ***** loads of grip.some brands i researched were michelin pilot sport the yokys and bridgestone re050 and also there run flats($1000.00ea lol)i settled on the yokahamas ($600.00ea)anyway i hope this might help.

  11. welsome mate....keen to see some photos it :D

thanks for the wecome.the mufflers are stainless supercats with 4''tips.they fill out the bumper nicely and there is a slight note and no drone(thank the almighty)anyway i will put pics up in next coupla days

  12. Welcome to the club. The AT-X ain't no 'Poverty Pack' mate (I know it was a joke, but still). In my opinion, no Aurion can be styled up as good as the AT-X. BONDIE was a good example of that.

You've got the right ideas there. Those grades scream for large rims, lowering springs, and tint.

sorry dj no offence about the poverty pack but ya right the ATX is the best blank canvas to start with.anyway thanks for the welcome note.

  13. hey guys & dolls new to the club some great info going around on a car that nobody knows nuffin about.anyway ive got the poverty pack ATX (lol)but ive done a few mods.20"' fox racing wheels.245/35/r20 yokahama advance sport 103 (tyres $600ea)nice and quiet and grippy.lowered 40mm alround.darkest leagal tint.stainless mufflers tucked up tight with 4''doubled walled angle tips.all headlight globes updated and new speakers and amp to be fitted real soooon.anyway will puts some pics up soon if i can work out the missus new fandangeld camera.
