  2. Toyota alignment specs can be found here; http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=11228

See if you can just have the rear suspension pulled back straight again; I know a fella in Brisbane that can do it, but not anything local to you.

Thanks dave could you pm me details about this guy?

What kind of feedback would you give his methods?

Looking at your datasheet 1.7 - 2.5mm is normal?

  3. Alright so heres the go...

After my suspension went in I had an alignment and balance done but I still had pull left and steering wheel shake (shaking when in excess of 120km/hr).

So I booked my car in for another balance and alignment. (Saturday 22/8).

Since I already had the rest of my sound system going in on Friday 21/8, Saturday was the easiest possible time (due to work).

So the sound system went in on Friday, YES IT KICKS *****.

Then on Saturday I drove down (with the beats pumping) to maroochydore to have the balance and alignment done.

Dropped the car off with a friend then we drove around to the movies in his car while we waited.

After the movie, driving back to my car I got a call. "Your car is finished, we've got some problems, you'd better come soon".

    :(

I get there and the guy goes "Did you run off the road? You've got a buckled wheel and rear toe in is 11.7mm"

So in summary, driver rear wheel is F**KED and my rear...get this...rear wheel is in 7.5 and left is 3.9mm.

Feel free to correct me but i believe normal toe in on a 1zz is 1.5mm?

So my rear wheels are bent in at the front.

Since the rear is non-adjustable it's either BENT CONTROL ARMS or BENT REAR AXLE.

    What i'm thinking so far...

Get the new rim on (already ordered) then take it to toyota at curramundi to have a look at my rear suspension and see if anything is wrong? (duhh).

Does anyone have measurements from a balance/alignment of their own?

Before you ask, no i cannot remember hitting at gutters or massive pot holes.

So i've either done it and not realized or the guy who installed my sound system took it for a run, damaged it and 'forgot' to tell me. No, I didn't check the Km's before/after the install.

    Thanks for reading guys.

  4. DEFINITELY A WHEEL BALANCE PROBLEM. iF YOU GOT STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION AT 60-80KMS, IT WOULD BE A TIE ROD END OR A STEERING RACK PROBLEM.

Never go to those places for wheel alignments. They never do a good job. If your in Sydney, try ACE tyres as they will tell u if they can do it or not or they never touch a car with suspension problems or or steering problems.

Thanks mate. Unfortunally i'm not in the sydney area and I already have another balance booked in.

I'll go to them on friday and make sure they do it properly.

I'll ask to see the scale each time each wheel is weighed, aswell as seeing the balance report.

Other wise no $$$ for them.

  5. Time to go get my system sound tested...

2.5" cat back, mild steel, press bends, 2x Supercat 12" resonators and 2.25" inlet/ 3" outlet S12 Xforce twinloop.

I'll fill up right the brim with premium, as that usually dampens the noise levels for some reason.

Reckon I'll pass? Gotta be under 90dB :S

They test the noise produced by the engine holding 3000rpm right?

    Yeah man you'll be fine.

They ask you to rev to 3/4 of your max engine speed power.

1zz's max power is at 6000 so you rev to 4500.

If you really want shove a heap of steel wool down the tip and out of sight.

That should quieten it down abit.

Make sure they calibrate the db meter before AND after the official test.

That is a legal requirement for the test to be official.

    Gl mate.

  6. I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I also have king spring lows

I got a left sway bar link in from japan and replaced mine for another reason, but replacing it got rid of most of my steering wheel shaking.

it cost me $165 and took my about 20 mins to put in (take off wheel, take old link out, screw new one in). Jump under the car and have a look. They might of busted it when replacing your springs.

My car makes very very strange sounds when turning left and right and i thought the busted boot on my sway bar link was the problem. But it wasn't.

It kinda sounds like a bit of sheet metal rubbing against my tire. I know its nothing touching the tire because i have not burnt any of the plastic under the guards. Anyone any idea's?

So you think they busted my sway bar link?

And replacing yours fixed the shake?

    -Azza

  7. Yeah whats up.

I had my king spring lows installed at my local mechanic. (they gave me a good price).

Then i drove to my local Bob Jane T-Mart (TAKING IT EASY) for an anignment and balance.

While on the way I noticed it was pulling left. Meh.

2 hours later (not too happy about that) they were finished.

While on the 10 minute drive to the Highway I noticed the left pull had gone. YAY.

One problem. Once I hit the highway I threw it into 4th, screamed upto 120Km/hr and the steering wheel started to slowly shake. I slowed back down to 100 - gone.

    "Hmmm" I thought. "Cross Wind?"

I stayed in 5th this time, slowly sped upto 120, it started again, sped upto 130, it got worse, upto 140, even worse!!!

I'd had enough. 100Km all the way home.

Since then i've been super busy with work only once or twice hitting 120 so it hasn't been on my mind.

Currently there are no other steering/handling issues.

So...what could be the problem? lol

NOTE: I didn't receive an asignment/balance report from Bob Jane.

    Thanks in advance guys/gals.
