Looking through the left wheel well whilst the guards have been pulled back. The wires is the one circled red.

    fq9at.jpg

Closer view, the area that is circled blue is the left foglight housing.

can anyone confirm that these are infact the wires which are for the foglights as there has been much speculation whether or not the gen 6 LE camrys (atleast the 07 models) are pre wired for foglights

    thanks

    Private

it looks like it is pre-wired and ready to be plugged and play... any thoughts from anyone else??

camry owners with foggies... can anyone advise the exact bulb type for fog lamps?

  2. Wouldn't say useless, but not worth it.

Unless you're able to MAKE the car take in more air, the car might be able to get some gains there. CAI on much higher powered cars will have a noticeable difference for sure. Most Camry people I know who have done their intake do it for the noise factor and looks too :P

There MIGHT be slightly better response, but that's really about it.

Thanks for your reply whip, i know my camry aint no 350z but i wanted a CAI for the noise factor and looks too! I just dont want to install it and having buzzers and all that stuff going off and then other things going wrong (when in actual fact there isnt anything wrong. I remember reading about someone installing CAI on there 07 camry I4 and some stuff like that happend.

Still 70-30 with getting the CAI done, if anything this mod will be done in the new year before uni kicks off again.

    buddy!

man, for the several hundred bucks ya gona spend on a cai, might as well spend it on a good exhaust set up and a panel filter :)

audio satisfaction from the panel filter probably will not match the cai/sri tho!

    PS: how did exams go??

  3. Loooks like Super Lows Rear and Lows Front doesn't work well on the Aurion ...

    :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

i dont think that set up was a low and super low mix but super lows all around... i went with that thus raised the question.

hence, i cannot imagine what it would have been like if i did go with the lows front and SL back option which i was considering since the stock height was significantly higher at the back.

  4. tinz; what inch drop is that front and back? btw, how did dropping it and adding new wheels to your ride affect your insurance?

I did a quick quote on my insurance website and without wheels and suspension im paying $1200 per year. but with wheels and suspension it bumped up to $3600+. (thats if i started from scratch again but i was talking to my mate and he said cause im already with them it would be cheaper. but the question is...how much? haha)

dropped 50mm front and back dude... since i last asked the question, springs seem to settle a lil and the diff is not that obvious... duno maybe its just me and psychological.

  5. Well i suppose i should get it off my chest...6.10am this morning, still half asleep on my way to work,i reverse out the driveway, drove up the road about 4 houses and out from behind a parked car a possum strolls out into the middle of the road,i instinctivly i jagged the wheel left and missed the farkin rodent and scrapped my LHF wheel against the gutter and gave it some minor gutter rash....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :( :( :( :( :(

Anyway whats done is done,my question now is who can fix it? Any members in Melbourne that know a good place for repair, any help would be much appreciated. :)

you will get heaps of hits when you google something along the lines of "wheel repair melbourne"... depending on damage, you will be quoted anywhere from $120-180 a wheel.

cheapest place i've found is Coburg Wheel Repair... mates have used them and got good results:

    27 Audrey Ave

    Coburg VIC 3058

  6. hi all,

i've read about products you can use to get rid of swirls etc on the outside.

i was just wondering if there is any product that might work the same way for coloured plastics in the interior cabin of a car?

this is not clear perspex plastic i am talking about, but those coloured pieces of plastic moulded areas normally found around the dash or gear shift area.

    thanks!

Have a look at the following links. I'm yet to try either of the methods as I haven't had the time to get around to it:

    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=302140

    http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37655

hmmm... i literally tried vaseline but was kinda unsuccessful...

anyone noes of any polishing products suitable for interior plastic trims? thanks...

  8. how do you actualli adjust your low beam higher, lower, side to side? i'm guessing ya need to access the projectors inside the headlamps?

can i just ask, why are you guys recommending that HID kits are installed on the low beams rather than the normal driving lights?

So what i gathered, correct me if im wrong (im getting HIDs installed + Aftermarket foglights)

    - dont get 55W HIDs

    - must aim the beam lower to reduce glare from other drivers (is this possible for low beam???)

    - buy a relay harness (how many would i need? 1? 2?)

is this correct? the dollar seems really good atm so im going to buy HID kit for my 07 camry. Im planning to get 10k on the fogs and 6k on the driving lights. can someone push me in the right direction? i have no experience what so ever with cars though im very keen to learn (after i finish my course im planning to do some sort of mechanic course)

I dont think anyone is recommending that HID kits should be installed on low beams rather than the normal driving lights but people usually install them for low beams.

I dont think people will usually get 55w HID kits as you might risk frying you wiring.

You are able to adjust your low beam higher, lower and side to side.

You buy 1 relay harness for 1 set of lights. This explains why it is recommended to use a relay harness. This info is from this website.

How can I ensure that I do not fry my cars internal headlight harness?

During normal HID operation, you use only 42 watts (35W to run the bulb plus 7W in heat losses in ballast) instead of the 55 watts that the halogen bulb uses, which is less, but, during HID cold startup, and for the first several seconds during warmup, the HID system can draw up to triple the normal operating power to run the ignitor circuit during that time. As the bulb warms up, the current draw tapers down to the normal running level. By powering the ballast through a relay straight from the battery to HID ballast, the heavy load is removed from stock headlight curcuit. Triggering the relay only requires 0.1 amps, so stock headlamp curcuit has no problem powering that. A relay is just a remotely mounted heavy duty switch, and the trigger power that goes to it just draws a small amount of current through the headlight switch to run an electromagnet that mechanically closes the contacts inside the relay which in turn hooks battery power strait to HID ballast power terminal. This insures that you wont ever overdrive the ratings of your vehicle's harness.

    Hope this explains it. :D

  9. The kits are essentially plug and play. The hardest part is finding somewhere suitable to mount the ballast. As for the brands etc, I'm not the best to give advice on that. If you were to ask me, I'd say a $50-$70 kit off eBay would do the trick. They all seem to come out of the same factory anyways. I have never had any issues with cheap kits, so I tend to stick with them.

I just ordered a 8000K H4 kit off ebay for $75. I am thinking of installing it myself on to my 02' Camry. I just want to ask do I need to use a relay switch connected directly to the battery or just go with plugging in the ballasts to the OEM connector and running the two xenons without having to directly connect them to the battery or relay switch? im guessing the two ballasts just triggered using the oem connector is enough to do the job. Let me know if i am wrong. thanks

i too would like to find out from you guys with HID installations if you use a relay or a just a direct connect from ballasts to oem connectors... will it fry anything??

  10. Anyone know any good places that sell Alloy Wheels for my Toyota Celica 2000?

I want a good design and what sort of prices do they start from?

    Thanks!!

I've heard good things bout Donallans... but i got my rims from Widetread Tyres based out at Frentree Gully and Lilydale though. Very helpful guys who are honest and reasonably priced... imho anywayz :)

  11. That's normal.

If you have a closer look at your car, you should see that that the guards at the rear isn't as high as the front. So if you lower it to be at the same height all-round the back would seem to look lower.

yeah, i did notice that... but i cannot imagine how big the difference is and there i was getting worried the back will not be lowered enough... turns out its the front with the problem

  12. hi all,

i got my gen 6 camry lowered bout 1-2 months back and it didnt realli occur to me until i was looking at it properly the other day that the gap between my wheels and the car in front is larger than the back.

in fact, it looks kinda weird.

i recall whie running on stock the gap at the back is MASSIVE compared to the front and after lowering, the gap behind seems minimal but the front the gap is still pretty pronounced.

running on 18" and lowered with kings super lows...

any thoughts on why this is so??

will install some aftermkt shocks like a set of konis fix the probem or am i stuck with the problem unless i go adjustable coilovers?

    kingspringssuperlow50mm.th.jpg

  13. ... the exact size?? is it 31mm?

That is correct. It is a 31mm festoon bulb.

also, it states in the user manual 8W... how does that equate in terms of volt... any magic number i shouldnt exceed??

That is the wattage. In layman terms, it's basically the brightness. With 31mm festoon bulbs, you can usually find them in 10W. That will be fine to use. Basically you don't want to go any higher than that because it will produce more heat and is not so friendly on the plastic light assembly.

All car bulbs will be 12 volts.

following that... reverse lights... it says wedge type 16W... any idea what i need??

It is a 16W bulb with a T10 bulb style base (actually called a T15 bulb). This is what it looks like:

    dsc05082h.jpg

If you go to Repco or anything like that, the NARVA product number is '17631'.

would it be a pain to change that reverse lights out (ie... as bad as parkers??)

A 3 minute job. Just take out a few clips that hold the boot lid liner in place and you can then access the bulbs. Something similar to this (first few photos):

    cheers mate.

  14. hi all,

i'm in the midst of changing over as many globes as i possibly can while i am in the mood for it... just done my interior personal lights coz thats relatively easy to identify (same as parkers).

next on the list is the cabin lights... i noe its a festoon double end type globe... just wondering if gen 6 camry owners the exact size?? is it 31mm? also, it states in the user manual 8W... how does that equate in terms of volt... any magic number i shouldnt exceed??

following that... reverse lights... it says wedge type 16W... any idea what i need??

would it be a pain to change that reverse lights out (ie... as bad as parkers??)

    BIG BIG THANKS!

  15. group buy?

not sure if the forum committee will approve a group buy on a product that is kinda against the law??

if theres no problems... then great!

all we need now is someone who noes where to get these pieces of vinyl tint and installation instructions / group installation some place? :(

  16. got pulled over? u prolly would, but i dont know coz the film doesnt actually make the lights dimmer or anything..

quick question... does the film actualli gets applied on the inside?? i am thinking the answer is yes, then again, it loks like its on the outside as well.

if so, any probs with peel and stuff from constant rain and erratic melbourne weather??

  17. true that... for ur peace of mind if ya got the car not too long ago and got it from a dealer which aint toyota.

i would have sent it back to a toyota dealer too if i got the car second hand from some car yard. but if ya got it off a toyota dealer and still got warranty covered, the scheduled service can still be done professionally by a certfitied mechanic and at the end of day it does not mean that sending ur car back to toyota will get you top notch service... thats my honest opinion anywayz having been unfortunate enough to feel like i am not heard and have to keep going back to get the same things looked at... thank god for warranty!

so yeah... its all in ur head... if ya believe toyota provides you that edge in quality of service (all depends on which toyota dealer too?) then that lil premoum you pay is justified i guess...

  18. really? it doesnt really say anything of that kind in the servicing book. What they told me that price will cover them to replace engine oil and filter, but inspect about 20 extra things. anything else, the told me, that needs to be changed will be charged on top of that $400

juz did my 60K and i did not go back to toyota... bought my car from an authorised dealer and brought it back countless times to get the same things repairs (finally all done now).

was surfing around and found this website called fixed price car service which you can find the best priced workshop, their background, number of years doing what they are doing etc for comparison.

anywayz... went to this place called g.s. auto clinic off smith street (melb) coz its near to where i live and its cheap... got my 60K done for $211 which includes oil change, oil filter change and everything that is stated in the service manual. all i can say is, they did a great job and very honest... they use valvoline, which i am more than fine with.

also, when i look around and see his working on brand new lexus, saabs and mercs... i tell myself this guy cannot possibly screw up my camry :)
