  1. 2006 camry, is that gen 6? perhaps you can get away with using a halogen projector with a re-based HID Bulb. Not the best combination but would make the lights look a bit better.

Otherwise, just get some brand name halogen if you really want to upgrade the lights..

yeah gen 6... guess the easiest way is to get some white bulbs? any suggestions?

  2. The scrapes are only very minor, it seems like a lot of effort and cost to touch them up.

i fixed my gutter rash with this guy in WA tho, fixed all 4 and repainted all with gloss black $250 :)

How bad were yours? And any of u guys know how are the cost calculated?

that would be about right... just did the same to mine (similar sized rash to the pics attached) and spent half the afternoon ringing around... have quote ranging from 40 bucks to 140 per rim. very minor gutter rash as well.

decided to remove most of the jagged edges myself with various grade sandpaper... not perfect but i can live with it

the notion of "its bound to happen again" is stopping me from spending that money...

  3. Projectors made for RHD cars should have a cut off that looks like this

    --------------------------------\__________________________________

This is so that the left side is brighter (the curb and foot path)

In a LHD car, it'll look like this as their curb/foot path is on the other side of the road.

    ____________________________/-----------------------------------

This is what my head lights with Lexus projectors retro fitted in looks like. (ignore the angle as the road wasnt flat but you can see what I mean)

    ProjectorCutoffsmall.jpg

    ahhhhh.... learnt something everyday!

say if i just install it as it is... other than blinding other drivers, will i get into trouble?

  4. Don't even think about using HID's without projectors. And you will need to still mod those projectors as they are made for LHD not RHD so they will be brighter on the wrong side unfortunately.

brighter on the wrong side?? skool me please? should headlights be a side brighter than the other??

    AUR30N

so itz youuuuu! can you email me your banking details instead? i'm having problems accessing the private message box and its a hit and miss situation... duno why, thus was not able to get back to you coz all i could remember was i was meant to get a spoiler from someone who owns an aurion (hows that for a useful clue here).

tavischan@gmail.com - give me total including registered mail, thanks.

  7. yeah i will get it looked at under warranty... thank god.

ever since i bought my car like 2 moths ago... its been non stop visits to the workshop! Just got the car back after getting my driver door realigned and passenger door produced a noise everytime you close it. Tailights lenses also got changed coz moisture was forming inside and the passenger headrest was a little shakey.

thank god for warranty... just the troubles is annoying.

i guess you wont that sorta problems with brand new cars...

  8. Sounds like a really stupid question but does the auto gear shift cage (where the D, P, N, etc are) has illumination?

I bought my camry without lights to that area when I turn on the headlights at night and while it never occur to me that it might have blown, I just always thought maybe theres just no illumination at all which sems kinda silly since almost all cars have it these days?

    Someone shed some light please??

  9. Hi all, Just want to say hi and introduce a new member(which is me lol). But more importantly I am looking for any info on mods or accessories for the CAMRY ALTISE 2007. I am finding it difficult to find anything unless i look in the king of mods(USA). Can any one suggest websites or stores in melbourne? :yahoo::yahoo:

hi mate... i am kinda in your shoes at the moment as well... all the exterior options for aurion and rollas but its hella impossible to find anything for camrys.

then again, guess ya gota start somewhere... i've done tint and rims so far... then getting the car lowered and then pay a visit to Performance Exhaust in hope to get nice to replace the "black pipe" sticking out the rear.

desperate for this kit by Naristo so if anyone ever noes anyone whose bringing them into melb... please holler! i just cannot justify paying more for freight than the kit itself to get it here:

  10. Hey mate,

Don't make a huge thing of it... getting worked up and all. It's a simple thing to claim something under warranty. Just take it in... tell them the problem and ask what needs to be done to fix it. They'll advise and then you'd tell them that you'd like it fixed under warranty :) No skin off their noses... that's how warranty works. People call me everyday in my industry of work claiming everything under insurance :)

Cheers mate, yeah lets just hope they take it as it is and accept that my car is under new car warranty still and just get it fixed without dramas :)

  11. alrighty... dont wanna sound like a retard but I'll just the question anyway to get a straight answer.

if i just need my headlights looking whiter than the ***** yellow one most stock production car do i have to get it fully converted with the HID kit + ballast etc or will changing the bulbs do? Anyone can summarise the difference for me pretty please?

driving a current shape camry btw...

    thx!

Depends on how much whiter. You can change to krypton filled bulbs which give a slightly whiter light, but still look yellow in a way. Or you can get the +30% halogen bulbs which give a slightly brighter light which is a little whiter than standard halogen, but the overall colour is still a bit yellow. Alternatively you can put in a super white bulb which are the ones that have a blue coating on the glass surface of the bulb. These turn out fairly white with minimal yellow, but be aware that these bulbs will have a lower light output and tend to be more useless than anything.

For that true white look while retaining brightness, your best solution is HID's.

thanks... and how hard is it to install on of these HID things? brands i should go for or avoid and ow much i should be paying for them?

  13. a car can only be sold if it has passed a rwc, as its required for the rego transfer. so chances are you've got a dud rwc, which is quite common.

as the others have said, it will probably be a part of your statutory warranty (if its from a dealer), so you should be entitled to get it fully repaired/replaced. if the car would only be under the balance of any extended warranty, make sure its in your name as they wont accept the claim otherwise.

dud rwc?! damn... i was hoping going to a proper toyota dealer i would not run into such risks...

gona be losing sleep over this... how would i ever find out if they sold me a dodgy car? last thing i need is try to sell my car few years down the track to only find out its not road worthy at all.

its only over 2 years old... but you can never be too sure?

what a bummer,ya can always pay i think its around $75-$80 and get ya own roadworthy done, just need to find an established workshop(that does RWC) and tell him ya drama and he might find out whats been done or not done to pass roadworthy,i would only do this if they(your dealer) is not willing to fix these under wty.you do have options so dont lose to much sleep, as it was stated before you must have a RWC to sell a registerd vehicle so the seller & workshop that performed RWC are liable.anyway good luck with it all.

cheers guys... to be honest the amount of info i get here in half a night is more than wat id find out in days.

kinda annoyed coz its my first car and i'm like all excited about it... wont lose much sleep... speaking to them again, will let you all noe how it goes *fingers crossed*

and once again... thx to all contributors.

  15. Do I need to get my tail lamp covers checked if I find mist on the inside of the covers?

It also seem as if this is causing a slight yellow tinge to the insides... anyway I can DIY by removing and giving it a good clean? not sure what to use for plastics though.

    Thanks...

if its still under warranty go see a dealer, they should fix em or replace em.

Yeah it still is... will bring it back then.

Btw, i'm expecting them to repair something on my car doors since its still under warranty... what are the chances of them backing out and saying they cannot do anything about it and if that happens (knowing how dodgy some second hand car sales people are) what are my options?

  17. hi all,

not realli knowledgeable when it comes to going to the right places for mods so would like some help to finish my little mod project on my modest lil ride.

i've come across a thousand and one HID conversion options including on eBay and am just not sure what to go for and more importantly, if it would take a genius to install them. i'd admit i aint the most hands on person around and i dont wanna screw things up.

and then the final item on my list are potentially some exhaust mufflers. i noe i aint got a 10 sec ride but juz a lil better sounding with a nicer looking tip as compared to the current "pipe" would juz be awesome. any good exhaust shop to recommend and roughly how much would i be looking at?

    big thanks to all :)

Oh, i'm located in Melbourne BTW.

i got my Aurion done at Performance Exhaust Ringwood 49 new st Ringwood ph9870 4977 David(owner, nice bloke) go and see them in person with ya car its better than trying to explain over the phone plus ya get to choose tips from his shop or order them in like i did from a catalooge and get exactly what ya want.i was more than happy with the fitting and cust service.ps it took a couple of visits and a few long hard chats to get exactly what i was looking for but they were able to do it with minimal fuss and not a bad price considering how fussy i am.anyway good luck with the mods.

thanks mate... wat did you get changed? full exhaust system? or just back catback mufflers tip? an indication on cost?

one more thing... will such changes affect the new car warranty and how would it impact fuel consumption?
