  1. looks like im the winner here... full tank with bp ultimate i get is just over 655km full tank !! i normally get about 8.2ltrs / 100kms too!

Heheheh gotta love driving manuals :toast:

I will try to make a note to test it out next time I go back up to NE Vic cos it's about 220km each way then the driving I do around there.

quick question... when you guys say full tank, do you mean you drive the car until the red light comes on?

i normally am looking at the guage and currently at 1 bar below the halfway mark, i've only clocked 290kms. is this normal or is it becoz i am alternate between E10 and normal unleaded? or theres a problem with consumption in my car?

any idea how long you can go for when the low fuel light comes on... nver had the b*lls to push it juz in case I get stuck on some freeway...

  2. Man, those rides are just ... N A S T Y !

I need to stop looking at those pics, otherwise I'll start wanting to mod my car ... oh wait ... I already want to do that, except the missus will kill me if I try. :D

how well knowledged is ur missus when it comes to cars? not discriminating or anything, but there are girls out there who wouldn't even notice you changed ur car as long as its the same colour and has 4 doors...

maybe start small... change something and see if she notices, then carry on from there... bit by bit :)

  3. what do you use if i may ask?? and for a camry

I use Fuchs Titan Super GTO. This oil is only available in a 10W30 oil weight. I believe your engine requires a 5W20 or 0W20 for optimium performance however. Fuchs do have oil to suit though, but it won't be the same as the one I use.

how many litres you reckon i need??

If you look at your manual, it clearly states how much oil you need to fill it. I took the effort of finding this answer for you. You 2AZ-FE engine requires 4.3 litres for a drain and fill including oil filter change.

you would bring in your own break fluid as well?

That is a personal choice. If you don't intend of giving your car a hard workout all the time, you can just stick with whatever brake fluid they use. I bring in my own brake fluid though when I get a service. My current brake fluid is Penrite Sin, but I'm thinking of changing it with TRW Lucas GP600 next service.

other than that, its ATF and coolant, anything else i missed??

Well you also have the power steering fluid, but they don't usually change that... just top it up.

    thanks champ... ;)

  4. yeah im using the smd bulbs for my fronts too, but sadly to say its not "white" its a bit bluish rather than white, still nice. ive got my hids running as well, would like to match them together.

anyway, if you have no luck with the dealership, head down to my garage and ill give you a helping hand :)

you own a garage? wat sorta work do you do?? service in general or a specialty garage?

  5. It depends on how you feel about it all. I personally just don't like Castrol oil (which is what my service department of choice most likely uses) and have better peace of mind bringing in my own fluids. The only fluids I'd let them use is the ATF and the coolant.

  6. i'm due for my 60K service in a couple of weeks time...

with things like engine oil, coolant, etc... do you guys normally bring your own or juz have the workshop replace whatever they have?? i'm heading back to the toyota dealer i got my car from but not sure if i should just leave it with them or would it be better if i bring my own lubes.

    thx thx

  7. if your located in melb, pm me and we'll organise a time and ill give you a hand

hey akuma, realli cool of you to offer... am sending my car for service in 2 weeks time anywayz and juz checked with em and they will juz do it for free so its much appreciated.

btw, i'm getting the white smd parkers from tangcla... just wondering if the license plate uses the same thing??

  8. if ya interested on an original set of sportivo kit, contact Michael Pitt at Brighton Toyota... i was considering bodykits as well when i first got my car in Apr this year but scrapped the idea after i saw the naristo kit and found out the only way i can get it here is if i parted with $5K not including shipping from the states :(

anyway, their quote came in cheapest at that time at about $2216... if you dont want the spoiler, you might be able to get it down to just below $2K.

i got a set of 18s like you and got it lowered just over the weekend as well as a custom muffler + 3 inch tip installed... dont realli see a need for a kit now...

  9. Looking to do abit of work on the suspension on my Camry (MCV36R) + get my rear struts replaced and I am wondering...

Do I go Kings or Pedders?

I went to Pedders today and I was quoted @ $1,545 including installation and alignment: 2x Struts (for rear), 4x Sports Ryder Coil Springs + Rear sway bar

Quote from Fulcrum was $1,600 including installation and alignment: 2x Struts (for rear), 4x Kings Low Springs + Rear sway bar

I'll be heading to Southside suspension + the other one @ Slacks creek for more quotes however:

The guy @ Pedders said he felt the King springs does it's job (lowering the car) but found the springs were too soft, can anyone confirm this? Or are both springs as good as each other?

literally juz got my car lowered with king super lows $450 installed (Melbourne), balanced and wheel aligned and loving the ride... some says ride quality is unbearably jarring, but for me the ride quality went downhill the most when i went from stock to 18 inch... the lowering job after that didnt make a diff, although i have to drive like a 75 year old over any possible humps now...

alot of wisemen here did say pedders and kings are essentially the same thing different color tho...

  10. I never really payed attention to the parkers on the Gen 6 Camry. Are they located on the very outside of the headlight housing? If so, I think changing them is similar to the Aurion then and you'll need to go in through the wheel arch. Not friendly for larger hands:

    parker lights

looks like i haf to access it through the wheel arches... damn, just looking at ur pics making me cringe...

    thanks for the response guys...

  11. Hi there...

anyone able to give me directs on getting my parker light bulbs changed?? I have white headlights and the parker bulbs are ***** yellow whch is really annoying.

user manual says its not recommended... is it advisable to trust the professionals to do it for me or is DIY possible??

    big thanks...

  12. $500 seems a normal price to pay, when it was still a new car and first few person to get it lowered, i was paying nearly double of that..

installation is around $150, which makes the springs themselves $250, then it is a good price..

thanks for the prompt response dude...

  13. Its time for me to take my Gen 6 camry a lil lower... decided on Kings SL's and having read through some of the older posts around here, Suspension City seems ike a good place to go.

Hollered at them and was quoted $400 springs+installation and $90 for wheel alignment and balancing which I have been recommended to do after a few days with the new springs. Is that a decent price? $490 seems like a rip off when I am reading how some of you peeps got everything done for $350?

All advise and feedback is much appreciated... big thanks... :yahoo:

  14. Whiteline springs are very soft in their ride. 30mm drop only.

King springs are 35mm (lows) and 50 mm drop(superlows)

Lovells are more expensive than Whiteline's.

Pedders are prolly imo the spring with the least amount of quality but do come in at the cheaper end of the scale.

Eibach do springs for the corolla but are 30mm drop and are expensive at around $500 for a set.

My advice is go with the Kings. I've sold dozens and dozens of sets and never had a problem.

If you are in Sydney I can supply you a set for $255 delivered to your door. Extra $5 if you are in Melbourne. Brissy $230 and arrange pick up.

sorry to be hi-jacking ur thread mattybiz... just a quick question to silvabullit:

i'm close to getting my gen 6 camry lowered with kings super lows all around (wanted pedders but after reading through comments here, i've decided to go with kings instead) and been quoted for $490 installed+balancing+wheel alignment... reckon its gona be a safe rie for me running on 18" in terms of clearance and is it a decent price to pay with self installation out of the question?

main question is the lifespan of the stock shocks... i noe lowering shortens the life of the stock shocks... just wondering with careful driving wat kinda timeframe i am looking at before i need to dish out more moolah for new set of shocks?

big thanks... and sorry once again for the thread hi-jack.

  15. do you know what projector your oem lights use?

if they are valeo h7 projectors you can get d2s bulb adaptors to fit

I noe they are h7s... as for valeo or not, am not sure... d2s!? i'm officially confused.

so anywayz... mines an aug 06 camry (current shape).... the knowledgeable forum members might be able to tell me once and for all what type of stock projector head lights i got... please :(

  16. Ok, now I'm just flat out confused. You have a Gen 6 and do not have stock projector low beams? I thought all Gen 6's had projector low beams.

er... if all Gen 6 has projectors then I do as well?? :)

but why is the conversion to the HID kit aint plug and play sorta thing? the extraction of the base to connect the HID bulbs and refitting the base plus trying to secure the ballast (which is probably the main problem) seems like a delicate task.

you guys have been helpful... i guess the decision lies with me on whether i can be bothered to go through with the HID conversion or not.

  17. I'm running a no name HID kit in my '92-96 ES300 Halogen projectors and there is no issies at all.

i have no probs with HID kits and been looking at it for awhile, as probably with a few thousand other drivers wishing the same thing... however, reading through installation instructions and all... i am not really confident if i will know what to do and not screw anything up.

hence i thought... alright, since i am such a numb nut, i might as well juz pay a bit more to get the whole headlight set changed to projectors and worry about the bulb type only... but i realise i am faced with the RHD and LHD issue :(

this is almost falling into the too hard basket! anyone in melbourne i can just go to for such after market installation? :)
