  1. Do it myself everytime.
  2. Having never considered sidesteps, they're starting to grow on me as well gerds. Probably wont get them though, not soon anyway. My preferences for mods, in order are.......; 1 Rails & racks, 2 Fogs, 3 Steps, These mods are totally dependent on cash flow which coming into chrissy with three kids wont be too flowing more like trickling, so it will be a while before I get these.
  3. Thanks for going to the trouble with the photos of the gap & your opinions on rail colour boys. I'm none the wiser. Suppose I'll check both out when I go out to see them. I'm kinda leaning towards the black cause I can match them with the black racks. There must be something to be able to fix that gap prob, suggestions anyone?
  4. Your rails look great Speedracer as do all of the other boys cars & girls if any. That gap is nothing compared to what i had imagined. I can easily live with that. Starting to feel unsure about which colour rails to get after seeing Speedracers. I kinda like the contrast. Do I go contrast or blend? The black on black looks cool but I like the way you notice the rails with a different colour.
  5. Spoke to oznest , the guy told me he's waiting for black rails to come in the next few weeks. I'll be going the black to match my black kxr. Thought about the current colour but have decided black. I might have a look at both colours on the day I buy but having seen the black Grande & black Altitude I think I like the Black rails better, just.. Thanks for the heads up & photos guys, much appreciated, one of the reasons i like forums. KXRuising, any chance you could get a photo of the gap , I'm a perfectionist & need to know what I would have to live with.....for a $1500 saving i think i could live with it but need a look at the imperfection. Do you think the gap would leak water into any areas it shouldn't be?
  6. Freaks me out to hear that most of us have this issue. I will give your suggestion a go luvthekluges, next time I park. Do you know of any long term effect for using Park gear to hold the car (especially a 2tn car)? Mate , thats what the bloody footbrake/handbrake was invented for, to take the weight of the vehicle.. If your brake isnt taking the weight they must be able to adjust it to the standard of my footbrake for example or one of the other klugers that goes through the workshop. This to me is a serious issue Toyota need to address & is not acceptable whatsoever. Especially the weight of the new Kluges. Its not a friggin suzuki swift. Personally I would kick up a stink & demand they fix the problem. I even read people accepting it as a design fault like it cant ever be fixed.......,crap! They are either too dumb or too friggin lazy to fix it. Or both, To all Toyota dealerships & mechanics, you have other klugers like mine whos footbrake works perfectly fine stop acting like its something that cant be fixed because it can be. Make them fix it
  7. I always, without fail, whenever im parking the car , be it sloping or flat, put it in neutral first then apply the hand/footbrake then, take my foot off the driving brake & let the footbrake take the weight then put it in Park. Using this method stopped the crunching noise from the gearbox whenever I shifted into drive from park. Especially on a slope. This way I noticed the footbrake properly takes the weight of the car & not the gearbox. I never use the gearbox to hold the weight of the car. Having owned both old & new model klugers , this works for me. If your car moves after putting it in neutral & applying the footbrake get it checked. Whenever the missus drives the car I get the crunch if if Im on a slope when I take the car somewhere. I took this advice from some guy years ago on the footbrake topic.
  8. Paid 46k for 08 AWD 7seat KXR....inc. On roads & Rego.....in Feb 09.....Such a smooth car to drive , lovin it!
  9. Gerds, a few questions . Are they the same length as the original rails & are they easy to install. Also how much are the racks that match the rails & can you buy them from the same supplier. Finally, how much for rails & racks in total if you install yourself. Appreciate your reply Thanks mate!
  10. Hey Ken, Purchased a set of oem style side steps today from oznest on ebay (very happy with them. They look great on). He said his roof rails are on the boat and expected in about 2 week. Price suggested would be under $300 a set. Also had a look at his oem style nudgebars. Looked pretty good but only two damaged ones left in stock. They will arrive the same time as the roof rails. Drew At under 300 a pop I might be persuaded to install some rails on my KXR. Although I dont mind the look of the black racks without rails. Apparently a guy I pulled up beside in traffic said the racks were simple to install on his kxr.
  11. No orange noticed on my black kluges but swirls, dirt & scratches stand out though, if it makes you feel any better.
  12. What about retaining heat towards the bonnet?
  13. 1750km! cant beat AWD in these wet conditions, lovin my kluger :D
  14. Whenever I wash the car I always have dust buildup on the drivers side front alloy more so than the left front. Just curious to know whether anyone has noticed it & why it happens more to the drivers side if it is a regular occurence.
  15. Well after 3 weeks of picking up our new kluger kxr awd the missus comes home & tells me it's stuck, great! Anyway put it in for 1000k inspection & they apparently replaced the old lock chamber with a new one & it's back to normal. The best part .......... not having to pay a cent when I picked it up. After years of owning all sorts of cars I have certainly felt ripped off in the past when paying for repairs . Geez it felt good not to pay for a change. I love warranty! :)
