  1. a 1zz has VVTi, and a VVTi pulley on the inlet cam.

Tensioner doesn't take that long to replace, but I bet Toyota will tell you the noise is "normal"

Yeah, ive had that 'normal' bulls**t from Toyota before.

I went to them about a loud noise every time i took my foot off the accelerator while in 2nd and 3rd gears, above 3K revs

They said it was normal, and only the engine brake.

No way is this noise normal. Because when i first bought the car, i dont remember hearing any 'engine brake'

  2. chain tensioner.

Is that classed as a warranty job?

How long will the car be off the road for do you think?

1 more question too, how long can i wait before getting it to Toyota? Whats the urgency?

chain tensioner or the VVTi pulley.

    1zz

possibly the tensioner on your timing chain, or you're running low on oil...

It only happens when the car is idleing too

    Not when its in gear

  3. it would be very unusual for your buckets to wear enough to make an audible noise in a newish car. If the tension isn't right on the chain it will get a very noisy valvetrain.

ps, are you sure a 1ZZ has tappets?

Yeah your right about the chain tension, but its not a loud noise that im getting

    Just a slight tapping noise.

And only when the car is cold really. Hardly does it when its warm.

Ive been told the tappets are suppose to last at least 300,000k's without any adjustment to the spacing at all.

But probably because ive driven my car really hard, that brought it down alot.

(ps. yes, the 1zz has tappets. not sure if they are the hydraulic system or not though. if so, im f**ked)

  4. For the past 1000k's or so, ive noticed the tappets in my '04 Ascent are becoming louder and louder when the engine is cold.

Its now getting noticeable even when the engine has warmed up.

I think it might have something to do with the valve spacings.

Anybody else had this problem? Got a good fix?

Seeing as the car is still under warranty, i think it might be time to take it back for some repairs...

  8. ok man. thanks alot

i'll explain what the situation is, i have land in the country. the main water supply runs at the front of our land, and supplies us, and the rest of the street with water.

at the front of our land, we have a water meter. it has a brass strainer on it [facing up], and a gate valve.

the water supply company told us that we need to "turn the ferrule on at the mains"

i understand what your saying, and it speaks for itself.

i have tried turning the gate valve on, but nothing appears to happen. we are still left with no running water

we are the first or second block off the water supply, and the rest of the street after us seem to have running water

do you have any ideas what exactly the water company means when they say "turn the ferrule on at the mains" ??

because according to what you said above, this is impossible.

one more question, is the ferrule located on the meter? near the meter? or elsewhere?

    thanks again

  9. O.K, this is my last resort. Ive searched all over the internet, and asked a couple of plumbers that i know, but none could answer my question

I need to know how to turn on, and off, the "FERRULE" at the main water supply

Even a description of what a "FERRULE" looks like. So then i'll know what im looking for

Any help what-so-ever will be very much appreciated!

    Thanks

  10. I wish my grass was emo, because then it would cut itself

man. thats the oldest EMO joke in the book... but still damn funny!

did you hear about that Kangaroo's supporter that had a go at the coach? he committed suicide like, yesterday morning or something

i wonder if he was EMO..?

[if anyone is related to him on this forum... im sorry]

  11. 270? looks and sounds good, but i'd like to point out that this is some thing VERY EASY to diy.

have you fellas ever opened up and looked at the rear of the light pod? the space where the inside red bit is supposed to light is is just covered with a plastic cover (as opposed to a cover with a bulb hole)

Just get a bulb socket and wire it in parallel with the other stop light and drill/cut the milkcarton thin plastic and pop it there.

You fellas are wayyy too eager to throw money into new toys.

and as for the LED indicator light, why not a LED bulb or even *gasp* a diy LED panel?

GREAT WORDS FROM THE KING OF DIY!

listen man, how about i pay you like, $100 and you can do this for me?

you supply everything you need aswell

but no chicken wire front grille! ok?? lol  :P

  12. Sportivo Foglamps = $360 EACH!!!!!!! [not including the outer casing]

man. i can see exactly where your coming from. replacement parts are the biggest downfall here. insurance is second i think.

and petrol prices, well, we have another whole thread for that.. lololol

  13. nah trust me man... these pants are comfy as!

it is easy to move around. no problems if there anything dangerous to "leg it away from" lololol

who would have thought.. an EMO thread on the Toyota Owners Club forums... hahaha
