  1. While I was doing research, I realised a very important point. The Oznest one won't be Airbag compliant.

Although if its a copy of the OEM one, I guess there's a good chance it will be fine.

Not sure if they are on your vehicles, however on mine I have three (3) orange warning labels.

    1) owner's manual 2) engine bay 3) glovebox

Basically a warning label to say that it will / may result in non-compliance with ADR 69/00 Frontal Impact Requirements.

  2. Hi Im just wondering what are the obvious differances between the awd and 2wd ,I've been looking at buying a second hand awd kluger 07 onwards and am finding alot of the cars I'm looking at are advertised as awd but are missing that badge on the rear tailgate ,some even have gsu40r on the owners manual and not gsu45r ,So are most of the cars I'm looking at 2wd or did some of the awd versions come out without the badge on the back??.any help would be appreciated as I am quickly loosing faith in peoples ability to be honest  thanks D

    GSU40R 2wd.

    GSU45R 4wd. Simple as that...

    Check the VIN numbers.

  3. Guys, this is your best source of information for the updated Kluger;

    http://www.toyota.com/highlander/

Pretty hard to see the difference!

If they are the sum total of the changes then I couldnt see any advantage in waiting. In my opinion the tail lights take it back 4 years and the Rav4 type grille.

The grille and tail lights you refer to are from the Hybrid (Limited) model.

    The tail lights are LED.

I can't tell the difference in the bumpers.

The third row is still one piece, not 50/50 split.

The side front indicators are no longer on the fenders.

The side mirrors now have "puddle" lights standard, not indicators.

  4. ok I will get some pics and post them.

    Passenger Side:

    Great Pics, thanks for that...

Is it possible to get a pic of the actual siide step. The tread pattern, how far it sticks out from the side, how is meets the front mudflap etc.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. Got the trigger wire from the switch to the BCM (Body Control Module), however I have now found that although we have a Light Sensor on KX-S's. It is not functional and only has the positive and negative going to the BCM. It is missing a trigger wire also.

Problem is trying to get a trigger wire from the Light Sensor to the BCM.

I don't feel like taking the entire dash pad off...

  6. Ok so got the rubber cargo mat, fits well and is really functional.

But it STINKS with a very overpowering smell!!!

What is the best way to get rid of the rubber smell, leave out in the sun?

    Anyone else experience this?

I recall mine being the same - but it doesn't smell at all now.

I can't remember how long it took - because your nose gets used to smells - but the strong smell eventually goes away.

I have taken the Cargo Mat out and have left outside to air...

I will give it another week, it is that BAD!

    OEM Toyota Part No: PZQ2048080

Ok, three (3) weeks outside, now no smell!!!

  7. Where have you bought your mat? I've seen on ebay at 80$ (plus 18.50$ postage i item 280490174544). The dealer asked $107 - part in stock.

Is the one on ebay an original toyota part?

tempted to pay the extra just to get the item straight away.

    - Calichin

    Hi Mate,

$90.00 dollars from my local dealer. Had in stock, collected right away!

  9. I recently ran a trip from Malvern (Melbourne's east, about 11km from city) to Kaniva (last Victorian town along the Western Hwy before the SA border).

Journey normally takes around 4.5hrs, first trip in the Kluger over such a big distance (419km).

Filled with Caltex 95 fuel for the Melb - Kaniva leg.

1 wife, 2 small kids and back full of cargo.

On the way there went all the way to the 110kph limit (to Ballarat) and then 100kph thereafter. I don't have a GPS so was using the speedo, I know it's slightly off so I was sitting on about 116kph in the 110 zones and 105kph in the 100 zones.

Stopped in Ballarat and Great Western on the way otherwise pure highway driving.

Result was 9lt/100km (I'll try and post image some time soon)

Trip back exactly the same way, stopped briefly at the Big Koala, think that's in a small town called Dadswells Bridge.

Filled with Mobil 95 fuel for the Kaniva - Melb leg.

Only other difference is this time I went a little easier on accelerator, in the 100kph zones I still sat on 105 as displayed on the speedo. In the 110kph zone (Ballarat to Melb) I backed off and had the speedo sit on 110. That had the effect of dropping the engine revs from very close to 2000rpm down to around 1800rpm.

Result was 8lt/100km (again image will be posted soon).

I attribute the difference largely due to the engine revs at 110kph being higher and the engine preferring to run a little slower, I think that this was stated by a few others in this thread.

Kluger KXS 08, 7 seater, FWD, original tyres almost worn, inflated to 39psi

Almost forgot to mention, cruise control used full-time in both directions with the exception of going through towns, apply brake when entering and then use cruise "resume" function when exiting.

    Was this with A/C on?

8L/100km seesm too good to be true!

I drove from Sydney to Brisbane a month ago, I average 9.2L/100km for the trip and the lowest it ever displayed was 8.9L/100km. (As per MFD) A/C on 22 degrees...

  11. Sucks to hear mate. But realistically, if it were that easy, it would make you wonder why they didn't fit it in the first place.

Maybe you better finish the job and sus the wiring out and see if you can make it work.

Yeah, will have to source a wiring diagram for the Kluger somewhere.

I have the Camry Workshop manuals from my old Camry, however would love to get my hands on the Kluger Workshop manual...

  12. Car booked in at Toyota tomorrow.

I will let you all know if this works! Fingers / Toes crossed...

    Ok, so it doesn't work!!!

    $200 down the drain...

Plus the dealership sctratched my steering wheel controls (A/C / Disp) on the right hand side.

But they deney any wrong doing! needless to say I am not impressed...

(Considering that this was the area that they were working on...)

  13. Ok, so new battery is now installed.

I was after the Bosch S5 110D26L 680CCA 90Ah 160RC, however it is unavailable in OZ until September 2010.

    So I went with the following; Bosch S5 90D23L 650CCA 75Ah 125RC $170.00AUD.

The only difference is it is only 240mm long, where the 110D26L is 261mm long. No real biggie.

These batteries are for Camry, Aurion, Torago etc.

The OEM Panasonic / Toyota Battery is only 420CCA.

  14. OEM Toyota Mudflaps (F & R) now installed.

They look so much better than the daggy rear piece of plastic.

    FIAMM Horns have now been installed;

High Tone Part No: 72102 http://www.fiammamer...p?ProductID=155

Low Tone Part No: 72112 http://www.fiammamer...p?ProductID=156

    Simple plug and play...

So much better than the silly OEM horns!

Where did you get these from and cost please?

It is pot luck if you can get a FIAMM horn in OZ nowdays.

I purchased from US. You can get these on eBay.

Cost about $70.00AUD for 2 (High and Low) delivered.
