So, I just called the local toyota dealer to inquire about it's price tag of the racks for RAV4 with rails, and the guy quotes me AUD335.7 for them!!! HUH - what happened here, April 2009 they were selling for an RRP AUD170.00 according to Toyota's website, and at the dealer for AUD160.00!!! Am I missing something? or hasn't the dollar appreciated enough to lower its price...

Am looking to pick up a set for a Rav4 2007 onwards that already has rails. Cheers,

Have a strange but similar problem to yours, - checked it with the toyota service centre when I dropped in for service. The sensors in the car, are always beeping,,,- regardless whether there was anything behind or not,,,but thankfully when reversing, and approaching an object, the beeping increases. Still a pain that they beep always. The guys at the service centre tell me it could be either a sensitivity setting for them, or that simply the sensors are pointing to the road, and not horizontal (at a 90degree angle to it), so as to detect the vehicle behind. See attached photo. Service centre tells me there could be a piece of plastic (fitting) to add to the sensor to adjust them, pointing straight horizontal...

Thanks fellas for the moral support. The guy at the service centre checked the tire - the ******* stabbed it with a screw-driver and with it being to the side renders it unfixable (illegal to fix). cost to replace the tire - $320, - there goes..................

Well, a couple of months back, I was asking about Alarms, - afraid of some kids or otherwise of trying to steal the car....- and did end up installing an alarm for its protection from theft. Now, as much as that is a deterrent, I'm wondering is there anyway to protect it from malice, and vandalism - In the last month, - the backseat passenger window had fine sand thrown at it with strength enough to mark the whole thing, - that when you're sitting there looking outside - all you see are tiny spots - about 30 or so of them. - can these be repaired - how! would it cost an arm and a leg! But most recently, - this morning I walk to the car to find a flat tyre - without any punctures - I replace it and take it across to the gas station for a quick pump, only to find that it's been cut (close to the rim) at the top part with a knife - blade or something, - that it deflates immediately fast - straight through when it was pumped. Is there a motion sensor alarm system that if you approach the car, - it'll zap the crap out of you, - with a sign appearing all across the car, - reading "walk away for your own safety or face immediate electrocution to your death you sad ******!" It seems that owning a car in sydney has a lot of negatives - aside from the city-rangers with their profiteering parking-rule antics of the city and if your residing in an apartment building constructed after May 1996 - you are not eligible for a parking permit - you also face the wrath of the bum-idiots-never-been-raised-with-a-brain people that have fun of damaging people's cars! WT is the logic! any bad experiences that can pale mine so far?? first car, semi-new-car, - damn sad for it... venting

If you see a silver ZR6 driving with all cars passing by - that'd probably be me! - I'll keep an eye out as well for the other ZR6 on the highway. I'll post the stats when I get back...

A quick update on stats - so I corrected the way I step on the accelerator - gently - and just tapping keeping the revs less than 2000 generally, that improved economy to 7.30km / litre -> 13.69 litre /100Km. - 10 days ago, I checked the tires pressure, all four were 33psi !!! I adjusted them to 36psi as per Bruster's recommendation, - and that made a good change as well, - now it's upto 8.32Km/litre --> 12.01 litres / 100Km - a statistic that I'm very happy with so far. Ohh, I also switched to regular unleaded 91Ron - the car lost the punch from BP 95, but at least its economical, and I'm less likely to hit a car while parking B) Will be going for a drive to Canberra over the weekend - crossing my fingers for better economy on the drive.

Tigz, for a few months after purchasing my ZR6, I drove it extremely hard - screeching off at the lights and accelerating real hard when overtaking - I was seeing figures like yours. The RAV6 will just eat up the gas when driven hard. -- hmmmm, I'll try to ease on the pedal, and see how it goes - will also check the tyre pressure. I'm not into speeding or any of that - the only thing that ever happens with me that could consume more than normal, - sometimes at traffic lights when starting to move, I step a little more on the gas, and it jumps, then I ease it immediately. - it's a 4 out of 10 times occurrence. But definitely driving so much in the CBD, has too many stops / starts that driving the car is no-fun-at-all. The car doesn't even leave the city to enjoy some driving.... will post some updates over the next month or so,,,to compare if anyone else keeps track of this! It's still a money saver - cheaper than public transport, exclude the parking cost....

Living in sydney - city areas and driving a V6, - turns it into a fuel guzzler.... 27.5 litres drove 161.5Km = 5.87Km per litre, => 17 litres / 100K, - that's with a BP 95Ron I wonder what stats are out there? - do I have a heavy foot on the pedal....

So far been super happy with the ZR6 model that I picked up a few weeks back, though recently been a bit surprised with its height / clearance off the ground. Just before I take out a measuring tape, and go outside to measure its height and ground clearance, what are your thoughts on this. The other day at a traffic light, a rav4 Cruiser parks next to me, and I find it higher than the ZR6. I'm looking up towards the guy's car - huh - I thought they all had the same height unless a person goes to raise it - anyone out there with a ZR6 noticed this before? Then earlier today, parked behind a Mazda CX-7 (luxury), I'm seeing it to be bigger and more buff than the ZR6 - huh - huh - huh!!! What do you think - does it make sense!!! I thought RAV4 was the one to rule.

I have a camera & sensor kit fitted, hardly use the camera, but the sensor beeps are useful in tight spots. The rear bumper on my 08 upgrade model is not flat and vertical but like a tilted figure 7, so the installation guys couldn't fit the 2 central sensors as they would constantly detect the ground. Maybe that's your problem?! I finally do away only 2 sensors on the outside -> could miss something small directly behind the car (like a pole). A bit annoying with the rear bumper "upgrade". Anyone has a solution? Makes a bit of sense, - my ravii is the upgrade 08, (with the face-lift),,,I'll check with the dealer on these sensors / direction when I take it in for maintenance. I mean, with all the beeps that happen, I'm simply paying extra attention to them, - so far, no bumps into anything thankfully.
