  1. I installed sensors I bought off ebay on the Kluger. I picked up some genuine Mazda 2 sensors for $60 if I remember correctly. They were actually very simple to install. If you follow the youtube instructions you would be fine but obviously you need to be comfortable with automotive DIY.

I bought another set of cheap Chinese sensors off eBay and put them on my wife's car. They were around $8 delivered and honestly, the quality and effectiveness is no different to the genuine Mazda sensors.

  2. Hi All

I have a Genuine Toyota rubber cargo mat to suit the current shape Kluger for sale. Asking $50 local pick up only. Located in Mount Annan NSW. I Work in Botany so either would be fine. Only purchased in Dec 09 so condition is as new.

If you decide to post to Brisbane, I'd be interested.

Otherwise give ebay a go for a larger audience. GLWS

  3. Can you still keep OEM (Toyota) front and rear mudflaps on when fitting a side step; either OEM (Toyota) or aftermarket?

More to the point, front mudflaps...

With the genuine steps yes, the ebay steps probably not. If I remember correctly, the ebay steps protruded slightly, enough to push a mudflap forward.

If your sidesteps are touching your rear mudflaps you're in serious trouble :help: :P

  4. about the side steps....i'll do some more research about the after market ones first... and if no good i'll get genuine Kluger Side Steps...

I've had both sets on my car. The eBay steps were fine. They attach to the car a little differently but still very securely. They stick out a little more than the genuine steps and sit slightly lower. If anything that made them easier for the little ones. The genuine steps are a slightly larger diameter which makes them look 'tougher'. They look so similar though it's hard to go past the $$ saving.

There are two different types on eBay, one turns in on the ends like the genuine and the others are straight bars. I had the ones that turn in like the genuine.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Thanks SpeedRacer, the set I have is for a Mazda 6 too! Picked it up from ebay.

I like your idea about the speaker location, although a little unsure about removing too much of the interior. Was this a problem or were you able to squeeze the wire between the interior trim and the carpet.

Any tips for the connection to the reverse lights? Did you choose a particular side? Also, do you remember the wire colours you connected up to? I'm sure once I pull it all apart it will make sense.

Thanks Dave, appreciate you taking a look.

Most of the way I squeezed the wire between the trim and the carpet. I think I removed a plastic part to get the wire from the rear seat area to the back. I can't really remember but it will make sense as you go.

I used the passenger side. You need to remove the interior trim from that side to run the wires through the grommet to get to the sensors. There's a bracket in there I used to screw the control module so it was nice and secure. To find the reverse light wire, I turned the ignition on and put the car in reverse and used a test lamp to spike the wires and find which one came on. Then I soldered the wire to that. Can't remember the colour sorry.

  6. Does it mention or depict the location of the speaker at all?

    Cheers!

I installed some sensors off a Mazda 6 on mine. I mounted the speaker under the glovebox on the underside of the plastic panel down there, right next to the kick panel. I used velcro to mount it. Mine has a little volume switch which allows you to choose two volume settings or turn it off. It's easy to access down there and invisible.

Good luck with the install. It was pretty straight forward, just a little time consuming because I don't have a lot of experience working on cars.

  7. I bought some of these and put them on today. I don't have an issue with gaps, but I had to use a round file to move a couple of holes across to fit the long rail to the 'feet' on one side. No big deal. They're definitely darker which wouldn't matter if your car isn't silver like mine. I don't mind the contrast, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Anyway, onto the pics

The oem rails on my KX-S were darker and seem a similar colour to the ones you've purchased.

Thanks for posting the pic Kesawi, it does look like a similar colour. I feel happier now :P

  8. Starting to feel unsure about which colour rails to get after seeing Speedracers.

I kinda like the contrast. Do I go contrast or blend? The black on black looks cool but I like the way you notice the rails with a different colour.

I'm not a fan of the black rails on the Altitude so I vote for the grey rails. I'm still getting used to my grey on silver but I think grey on black would look great.

  9. See pic below with the gap, it is the same photo as I posted but I have highlighted the gap (see green lines). It's a bit hard to pick up due to the shadowing. This is the rear drivers side where the gap is at it's worst.

I am a bit of a perfectionist also, but can live with this. Problem could probably be solved by filing back the height of the feet that secure rail to the roof, but I think I'll wait and see whether the rubber changes under weather conditions.

I don't think water should leak in. If it does, there are rubber washers/gaskets that come with the kit that sit between the feet and the roof. Guess I'll find out in due course.

Looks to me like the cover hasn't snapped into place or the one of the tabs that holds the cover on has broken off. Can you take the cover off and check?

  11. I was thinking about the reverse park sensors but are they necessary given the rear camera?

If you're used to rear parking sensors, put them on. The camera has a fisheye type effect so you can't really judge distances when reversing. It's more to see if any children/bikes/pets are behing the car. Very difficult to reverse using the screen. The back window is quite narrow too so that can make reversing quite difficult.

I bought some 'new in the box' Mazda 6 sensors off ebay for about $50 and installed them myself so there's always that option. The silver matches up well so it was pretty straight forward.

    Good luck!

  12. what - by climbing over the baby seats? good luck!

You're probably not aware that the middle seat in the second row is removable. If you were to remove the middle seat, you have a small space to walk through between the two second row seats into the 3rd row. If you only require 6 seats in the car and not much storage space in the rear, this is the perfect configuration.

  13. The sensors I have came with Toyota fitting and operation instructions

Hi all. Can someone with the fitting instructions for the Toyota rear sensors scan them and drop me a PM for my email address? I'm going to fit aftermarket ones but I'd be really interested in seeing the Toyota fitting instructions. May make locating the relevant wiring a little easier. If anyone can, I'd really appreciate it.

I'll take some pictures along the way and post a 'how to' guide too for anyone else wanting to fit aftermarket ones themselves.

    Cheers.
