  1. Drift the ***** round the hairpin and have some fun :D
  2. Thanks mate. Haven't checked it since actually. Probly should have. But it's registerd and roadworthy now. So a slight leak is no worry at the moment.
  3. Got the roady done this morning. Mechanic tightened the rocker bolts, but suspects the leak is coming from somewhere higher up. Did a full service etc. Anyway, dad's gone to get the car registered and transferred to his name so we'll check if the leak has stopped once he gets back and parks it in the drive for an hour or so.
  4. Yeah man, it was an 'official' event which frowned upon hoon behaviour. Hence why the copcar was waiting at one of the exits already. The staff at the event took down his plates and turned the info into the cops. He got a knock at the door the next morning. Shame, would have been the perfect getaway :P
  5. Oh! If it's an auto, make sure you undoe the engine oil sump plug, which is one the bottom of the motor. Not the transmission oil sumplug which will be under the transmission ;) It should be reasonably straight forward which is which, but just incase.
  6. I can't help ya with corolla specific, I've only serviced my commodore, but should be similar. The nut you have to undo is the sump plug. If you get the front of the car on jack stands or ramps, and slide underneath, you will see it on the engine sump (the bottom of the motor). What ya wanna do is warm the car up, take it for a drive around the block or something. Get it up on the stands, take the oil cap off, chuck ur pan underneath the sump plug then undo it with a ring spanner (this is so you don't round off the nut). Leave it for 10min to an hour, depending how thorough ya wanna be for the oil to drain out. Remove the old oil filter with a removal tool. Get the new filter, smear a bit of oil on the rubber seal on the filter then screw it on hand tight (don't use the tool to tighten it or you'll struggle to get it off again) Replace the sump plug, it's also a good idea to replace the sump plug washer aswell. Fill with the required amount of oil according to ur manual, replace the oil cap. (Also a good idea to check the dipstick on a level surface, just to make sure) Then take it for a runaround the block, check the sump plug and oil filter for leaks, tighten if necessary and ur done :) Found a photo of the corolla engine sump, where the yellow paint is in this pic, you can see the oil draining out. It's removed in this photo, but this is where the sump plug will be. This is what the sump plug and washer will look like, or very similar...
  7. Well it's getting the roady done tomorrow anyway, and the mechanic is a mate of me dad's so he'll give him a good deal. Thanks for the offer though.
  8. Pricks who don't look where they are going and pull straight out infront of me!! My poor baby is off the road now, prolly will be a month or 2 before she's back and running cos of this.

  10. Thanks mate. Yer, call them rocker covers here, I've done them on my holden 304, but jap motors are confusing to me :P Thanks again :)

  12. Thanks for the reply. Yes, on one of the service reciepts the camshaft timeing belt was replaced in March last year. I got the car up on the ramps and had a look. Getting under the motor, to the back of the engine bay and looking up, there is oil mostly located around 4 pipes going into the motor (I think coming from the throttle body, the thing with '2200' stamped on it.) The oil is around on the motor in that area and under the 4 bolts under them pipes, as though the bolts are leaking. Hope this makes sense. Edit: I have a couple photos too help. Gimme a couple mins though. Edit2: Okay, here is the general area where the oil is, at the back of the bay looking up... And a close up of them bolts... Oh, and I should also point out this is an Australian model, so it's right hand drive.
  13. Hey everyone, Just signed up. My dad's hiace was written off a couple weeks ago and after looking at a number of cars we have purchased a 95 toyota camry, 4cyl auto with 160,*** on the clock. We bargained the guy down and got $1200 off the price under condition we get our own roady. It's goin into the mechanic tommorow to get looked over. Anyway, it's got a small oil leak. I'm a holden man myself and under the bonnet of this thing I'm just clueless. It's dripping to the ground just behind and to the inside of the drivers front wheel. I was wondering where it's most likely to be coming from? What areas to check first. Any help much appreciated. Other then this little leak it's a very clean car, full service history and owned by a pensioner the last few years. Thanks for any advice, John. :)
