  1. After nearly 4 years, 85,000kms, lots of time and love, and many good intentions that never saw the light of day, sadly 11 days ago I waved goodbye to my Aurion as the new owner drove her away.

    And what a horrible 11 days it's been, a-to-b-ing in a borrowed ACV36 Stivo, and moreso a "well loved" AE91 Seca that smells like a tobacconist. Damn this waiting for new cars business *sigh*

  2. This was in early 09 and my car is an 08, so a near new near 50k replacement cost car for a 19 year old was a reasonably expensive little sucker i think you'd agree?

    not for some of us.

    $50k is hardly inexpensive. Especially for someone under 20. Especially in Tasmania where even the average family can't afford that.

    Must be nice to be "some of us". How's the air up there?

  3. Converting a standard Mustang to look like a GT500 would be more alike to converting your Camry LE to a Camry SE. People here wouldn't convert their Camrys look like Aurions here because the price difference is such that by the time you paid for the parts, paint and labour to do the conversion, you could have spent similar money and just bought the Aurion.

  4. It'd be great if we could get 1 or 2 more people to post up alignment specs like in the first post just to get a second opinion on the specs. Just to put to bed once and for all how slight or severe it is off, hence what kit needs to be bought.

    Interesting, the caster specs posted by David the Viking are quite different to mine, although the camber specs are very similar.

    I wonder if this will be looked at at all when Toyota releases the 50 series Aurion?

    "When"? Have you been living under a rock?

    I daresay being its all new bits in 50 series (isn't it?), this issue wouldn't/shouldn't carry over.

  5. There's speculation (and word on the street) that what you're pumping into your car may not actually have been produced by the company on the sign. Apparently they regularly purchase fuel from each other, be it for supply and demand ("Hi, Shell? It's BP. We've run out of 98 and need another 5000L. Hook a fella up, will ya?"), or cost saving on transport, etc (it's freaking expensive to ship fuel from Sydney to Perth, cheaper to buy it from BP). Whether the additives are the same in Ultimate as Vortex as V-Power and so on, or whether they each add their own blend of additives, I don't know.

  6. Insanely wide dispersion angle. Active cabinets. Easy internal access for maintenance. Wheels and handles attached - no need for roadcases. Nice and tall, so just stack 3 a side to get a good far throw.

    Braddles, you can if you can be ****d to translate bits of the Japanase site and import it. Bit of effort and probably quite a bit of expense though. Something I heard recently, apparently the TRD above isn't the same as the TRD that we have in Aus. that did the Aurion, Hilux and parts. Hence we can't get many of the parts shown on the Japanese site through dealers here.

  8. I don't take my hands off the wheel, so I don't experience this effect. I don't understand why it's an issue really. Does it lead to mechanical damage eventually?

    It's an issue because you have to force the car straight buy constantly holding the wheel slightly right of centre. I don't think it's a major problem, just as a bit of an annoyance to some of us.

  9. TRD269, assuming you're the first owner, I think they usually do. Or perhaps its the service centres that are meant to contact the customer. I'm not sure. All I know is that even as the second owner of my car, the service manager at the dealer I bought it from called me up the day the recall was officially announced to tell me they'd received a notification that there was a recall.

  10. They may be funcionally useless, but personally I prefer the look of my car with them than without them. If I didn't have slimlines, I wouldn't have any at all, so the lack of function is really a non-issue for me.

    A/C is definitely not just for cooling. Otherwise it'd be called Air COOLING rather than Air CONDITIONING.

    Funny we all know better, but so many of us still refer to air con for just cooling. It amuses me at home a bit. We have reverse-cycle air conditioners at home, but it summer we refer to them as air con, in winter we refer to them as heaters.
