  1. Hey guys,

Sorry for the mega long depature from the forum! Things have been pretty hectic at work and at home.. All is well though!

sadly as mentioned above, the car has been moved onto a new owner.... :( it was definately a hard choice to make and was very hard handing over the keys....

Thanks for the kind words guys, will still stay active on the forum and will post some pics of the new ride soon

  2. How do you get rid of window dots? Ive tried eagle 1 window cleaner, washing and drying with a shammy or papper towel or white cotton rag and i even tried vinegar neat, soak in then wash off then dry but still i cant get them off. I currently do not hav a car port and would really appreciate any help on to remove those annoying spots.

    Thx

depending on how bad the spots are you may have to get a agressive glass cutting compound and polisher to work them out.. otherwise try this method

    1. Wash

    2. Claybar

    3. apply Autoglym glass polish

    4. seal in the clarity with some rain-x or similar products.

hope that helps and good luck!

  3. acctually i found that when going through the process of fitting my sportivo kit, the side skirts caused the most trouble.. hence why i went aftermarket for the sides instead of genuine..

for the record though, you can save some money and simply purchase the "skirting" kit from toyota which wont break the bank.. have it painted and fitted by any reputable panel beater..

the sportivo genuine bumper as mentioned is the same as an atx bumper however the sportivo bumper has precut "holes" for the skirting kit to clip into.. on the atx bumper you would either need to cut these holes out, or cut the tabs off the skirting kit and sika flex/bolt the skirting kit on..

there are also a number of brackets and clips you would need to buy, the most important being the two side extension brackets, and also the grey rubber weather strip..

also take into account the fasct that you dont have fog lights on the atx.. whereas the sportivo skirting kit has the holes for fog lights..

  4. I think I have spotted -DAvo last night driving along albany highway towards the city around 7pm? What I noticed is you have debagded all the badges and have put the spoiler back on? I am not sure because your signature pics have the same car but minus the spoiler :)..i think you spotted me as well..we are kinda driving close by..we got the same grill and xenons i believe :)

nup wasnt me. i was a good boy and stayed in last night..

user "whitezr6" has the same wheels i have...so our cars look identical minus the spoilers and a few small items... my car has the ducktail spoiler, painted white front lip, lexus grille painted black, and black toyota emblem.. so few minor differences...

  5. Excellent reading!

Hope you dont mind i added a few items which wernt on your list. hopefully we can get more listings on products people have used! :)

    Thanks!!

    Wash:

Meguiars Gold Class ShampooGreat shampoo for the paintwork, easy on existing wax layers

Nice and easy to use, good dirt removal and smells great! Would be a good option for those who want a economical wash for weekly washes. Good water sheeting but not quite up to Ultimate Wash and Wax performance

Meguiars Soft Wash ShampooVery Gentle shampoo, average cleaning ability

This wash solution wont harm your wax layer at all, in fact its so gentle that results are average when compared to the likes of Gold Class, Ultimate Wash n Wax etc..

AutoGlym Car body shampooLow suds, but great cleaner

Very low on suds if you follow the dilution instructions, however this does not effect the cleaning ability. Gentle enough on wax layers.

    Paint prep + correction:

Meguiars Swirl XGreat for semi regular paint cleaning duties.

If your car is in realitively good condition and you just want to remove haze/light swirls.. this is the product to use from meguiars. easy application, can be used by hand/DA polisher.. would suggest DA polisher fore best results. Uses Meguiars diminishing abrasives so be sure to work into the surface good and well.

    Meguiars M205The ultimate finishing polish.

A perfect companion to meguiars M105 or Ultimate compound.. this will remove any marks left over from the more aggressive products and leaves your paint work LSP ready. nice deep shine, easy on and off.. can be used by hand/DA polisher/or Rotary. Bit heavy on the wallet but if used properly, should last you a lonnng time.

Meguiars Fine cut cleaner Old technnology, should probably be put out to pasture

In terms of results, you'd be better off using SwirlX or M205... this product is harder to apply and results are not as good for the given effort required.

    Paint protection (sealant + glazes):

Meguiars M21 synthetic Sealant 2.0NXT 2.0 in disguise

Has all the performance and trademarks as NXT 2.0 but different colour (purple). same smell, durability is the same.. In a "mirror glaze" bottle... maybe thats your thing...

    Paint protection (waxes):

Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus - Definately an improvement from the original gold class. Good enough though?

Definately deeper reflections, and easier to work with. Durability is slightly better although not a strong point when compared to other waxes. Be careful of over application..

    Wheels and Tyres:

Meguiars NXT tyre shine (aerosol)- Super glossy shine, beware of "sling"

Attention grabbing indeed. Your tires will sparkle! but be careful to wipe all excess off tyre and allow enough time for it to dry. otherwise you'll be washing the overspray off the next day. Wish they would make this in a gel. Durability not as good as Hot Shine gel.

    Interior:

    Meguiars Ultimate Protectant Hardcore protection

Excellent product that will last and last. A little bit goes a long way. Make sure you wipe off all excess to avoid making your dash overly shiney. Great results on black plastic bumpers - keeps them dark black for longer.

    Exterior (other):

AutoGlym Rapid Detailer Great alternative to Final Inspection

Simple to use, adds extra slick feeling to paintwork - not a alternative to waxing/protecting.

    Product (other):

AutoGlym Fast Glass - Great window cleaner. safe on tint

Virtually no streaking, does it job. Good on car audio equipment too.

    Product (other):

AutoGlym Glass Polish - Tough cleaner, great prep for RainX

Make sure you work it in good, and allow to dry to a haze.. otherwise it will streak like a mofo. if applied correctly will make glass nice and smooth and bead water like no tomorrow.

    Accessories:

Meguiars Lambswool Wash Mitt Doesnt get much better than this!

Bless those lambs.. awesome sudsing, super soft on paintwork, good size... even i dont use a mitt this soft on myself!! excellent cleaning ability.

  9. I'm looking for a side "Aurion" badge for my white 2007 Aurion. As far as I know different colours and models have slightly different badges.. The one I'm after is for the passenger side door, chrome finish.

Please email me at sammydrm@gmail.com if you happen to have one or know where I can buy one from. Happy to pay for it of course :)

    Sam

    try your local toyota dealership?

  10. what i found to help in drying your car is...

"using water to dry your car" :P

basically once u spray off all the excess soap, remove the nozzle from the hose and turn the water power down till the water "streams" out of the hose... then start from the roof and gently allow the stream of water to collect all the droplets and sheet the water away.. do this from top-down on the car and watch your car almost fully dry itself!

doing this i can dry my whole car using one meguiar microfibre cloth (wont scratch the clearcoat)... but ill still use my compressor to blow water out of annoying gaps.. which the aurion tends to have plenty of!! and then a final wipe with the same microfibre (twisted as dry as possible) and AG rapid detailer. taadaa!

heres a link if i made no sense whatsoever :P
