  1. To be fair..... I wasnt looking for any performance increases, I was just itching to do some mods my self. I decided not to do it because any benefits (performance or longevity of the Throttle body) are all hearsay. I agree with your last post Wildfire, you summed it up perfectly.
  2. Funnily enough I came on the forum to post that I really couldnt be F'd doing this mod anymore. I'm not a mechanic or a race car driver All that matter is that I enjoy what I drive.
  3. Cheers DJ. Sounds easy................... We'll see if a computer manager can pull it off (having never even known what a throttle body was or looked like)
  4. Hey all, I am looking into doing the TB bypass on my Aurion possibly tomorrow. I have read up on quite a few place regarding it and I am convinced it is something I want to do. but........ Has anyone had any experience doing it on a 2GR-FE? If so, is there anything weird and wonderful I might need to know about? And.... Having done the mod, would you recommend others bother doing it?
  5. How many people confirmed so far? I have a mate with a Mark III Supra coming along.
  6. Ari, one of my front ones had a small bend on the tip closest to the rear door. I was not a huge bend but I tried to straighten it and made it worse. I figured that for how cheap they were and the fact they are scuff guards that they would inevitably be damaged at one point. I put this on the drivers side so passengers wouldn't see it. TBH Im not completely convinced I like them, others seem to notice them but I dont know it they suit the look I am going for. I went off and my sister for dragging her feet along one and she said "STFU they are scuff guards", this is the same sister was only alowed to travel in my car if she doesnt breath. They are good for what we paid, thank you heaps Ari!! You rock!
  7. Put me down as a maybe with at least 1 other non forum Toyota owner.
  8. Thanks. I dont think I could have matched the silver perfect. If any one wants to see more pics there are here. Also, this was my first project of this nature... I learned quite a lot from it.
  9. I highly doubt a toyo dealer would go any where near it.
  10. DJ, I had a re-read of your post because I didnt quite understand the first time (your writing wasnt the problem, my brain was). I think pulling the SGii apart, sanding it back and spraying it silver would be an awesome idea! That would be a much easier option. Yes, I was the one that purchased it on ebay. There seems to be another one up already by the same seller.
  11. How much? It was DIY so ummmm. ~$20 for the plastic dash section (I wanted to have one spare incase I Fd it up) $10 putty $10 primer $10 spray paint Geeez, now that I mention it, it was kinda expensive... But then again I still have a lot of the putty, primer and paint left. Cheers I considered this, but to be honest the SGii is one ugly mother and I didnt want it to ugly up my dash like in my previous car. I use my SGii purely as a trip computer with the added benefit of scanning for error codes. So there is no need for it to be in a safe driving position. Things like the AVG speed per tank or MAX RPM this trip are fun stats that you tend to look at while stationary. I wouldnt suggest a SGii if anyone is looking for a "performance" gauge. I would suggest the more expensive alternatives.
  12. Thanks! The SGii is good. But the initial buzz about it wears off in about a month then it is ignored. But it is handy, I use to mainly for the FEC Fuel ecconomy per drive or per tank. It also comes in handy to get error codes. I would say, if you are thinking about it then go for it. I had my SGii from my previous car, but in the Aurion I didnt want it uglying up the dash (the SG2 is kinda ugly), so I had it in my glove compartment (still plugged in tho) for about a 2 months.
  13. More pics to come (once my internet is uncapped). Over all I am happy with how it turned out, but the small imperfections in the paint due to my crappy sanding job break my heart. I got my brother to cut the dash piece that was purchased on ebay because he thinks his a hero with that stuff. My brother bet me $50 he would get it perfect so I wouldn't need to paint it. Needless to say he lost, and needless to say I doubt I will see the money. So I ended up buying some plastic putty and spraying it matte black. I chose black because I was certain I could not match the silver and would prefer a totally different colour than a slightly off looking silver. I used a plastic primer under coat. Would I do this again? Yes, but I would be much more patient during the sanding stage. Over all I probably wasted 3 hours of my life on this. Drawing the lines for cutting took me 40 minutes. The Scan Gauge looks green during the day but at night the lights change to which ever colour you choose. p.s. Thanks dad, I used all your hot glue. (He will never see this, but at least I told him somewhere.... It's his problem now)
  14. There will be another one on late this month. But I do not know who is organising it.
  15. Geeez, I would freak out!! Let me guess, she was driving a Honda? p.s. No offense to Honda lovers but I dislike your cars with a passion.
  16. I don't know about you guys but I wear one of these every time I drive any Toyota http://www.google.com/patents/about?id=ubwuAAAAEBAJ It does get a little warm when you add on the fact I also live in a big plastic bubble. Oh well..... The price I pay for a reliable car.
  17. Ari, I'm really sorry to do this to you but I cant make it because I'm interstate for work all of next week so I need to stress out doing work all weekend as well.
  18. I am pretty sure DJ is correct, the light is a T5 wedge. I got some white ones on ebay dirt cheap and when they get in will post up my travels. Hopefully this will be the last time I remove the dash (it isnt that it is hard, its just I don't want to stress the plastic). Thanks Everyone.
  19. I did this mod some time back, but I never really noticed any difference... Maybe I should have driven my car with the music off before hand. <_< p.s. I ripped out the carbon filter today and i forgot to plug MAF the sensor back in before turning the car on...Turned it off then plugged it in. I didnt see any engine lights or anything but when I scanned for error codes with my Scangauge it gave me the following engine error codes.. P0102 and P0000, both meaning MAF errors. I reset the codes using the Scangauge.
  20. For lack of a better name (and lack of my electronics education) the little green light that lights the crack in the gear stick area is pictured below. See the green condom? It changes the illumination colour of that little bulb. The difference in colour if you take it off is pictured below. At the moment I have the condom off as I have always hated the green because nothing else on my dash is green. Does anyone know the name of that really small bulb? It looks like a miniature version of the vanity lights. I want to try blue, red, or white. I know this is an insignificant mod but I had to pull the dash off to remove a section of the dash to draw lines and cut with a dremel to install a scan gauge (which i will post soon..... if i dont fail) so I want it to match in colour at night.
  21. Good stuff! Cant wait to see your ride. I'm jealous, because of work and other commitments I have held off lowering and buying rims. Looks like I will be rollin on hub caps for the cruise. Doh!
  22. Ok, it's just me now. My mate cant make it.
  23. Nice man!!! Glad to see you decided on doing the springs as well.
  24. I'm in. My mate is coming as well in his Golf GTI.
