  1. and i'm guessing you cant change gearbox ratios lol

As above, you can, but you need to buy the new gears, plus parts and labour costs will be pretty huge.

    I see a few options:

Put up with it and loose a little bit of money on economy

Sell up to a Sportivo, get that extra gear and more powaaaaa for what, like 6k cost, which you wont really make back in economy but maybe in fun.

Sell up to a brand new small car (new rolla even), new cars are so freaking economical now

Sell down to a 1JZ Supra and enjoy getting maybe 350km to a tank (70l, maybe 5l left). Pocket a few k and burn it in fuel.

  2. 2JZ is better in every way, but they cost more, because they're newer.

If I was stuck with a 1JZ I wouldn't be complaining tho (and I am heh).

Technically the 2JZ engine is only 1 year newer than a 1JZ (1JZ was 1990, 2JZ was 1991), and both were sold all the way though until the mid 2000s

    Still newer, nyah!

Theres more reasons as to why they cost more, but thats the easiest one to mention.

  3. leaving the poor guy alone.

Has anyone investigated if apexi power FC or the greddy e-manager has something for the aurion engine?

just read their website..it says for most jap cars....but im sure it would be mainly suited for nissans and honda's.

I guess it may be possible to get it tuned professionally...but i don't know if that will screw other functions on your car as i have heard the ecu is very fussy. I was having a chat with a mate wondering if it is possible to change the car to have mid range torque instead of high torque. Sure it will use more fuel but it would be beneficial performance wise.

Prob with the Power FC is it needs to be purchased for a specific car, eg. a ZZT Celica one wont fit a ZZE Corolla Sportivo one, even tho they have the same engine. Not that it will never work, find a car with the same engine and you can usually make a harness like SuperDave does.

EManage on the other hand... usually you can put them in anything, just needs to be wired up, prob is with modern Toyotas they have learning ECUs which can actually work around piggybacks, so its long term effectiveness would be in doubt, or constant retunes would be required.

Better off with something like a Wolf or Adaptronic, full, non-car specific standalone, they cost a fortune but.

The only 'chips' I would ever buy are found in foil packs and are to be eaten.

  4. I think it looks just right...

Surely you must have seen other Celicas around and noticed they don't have the rare grill?

I've never seen a grill on the TRD kit before either, only on the stock bumper.

  5. Well, after a bit of fuss I have the Supra back. As some of you may know there was a lil issue when I left WTF Auto (broke down...) but its all been sorted, very very quickly as well, WTF after sales service is certainly the best I've ever had (for anything), just a shame about the circumstances. I wont go into detail but no real damage was done.

So, to the latest round of repairs and mods:

    • Even more seals
    • Even more hoses/pipes
    • Timing belt (old one was covered in oil... ew)
    • Intercooler piping redone in stainless (hells yeah, no more leaks, no more PVC!)
    • Front sway bar mounts replaced - it was loose enough you could move it ~10mm with your hands apparently. Made a significant difference.
    • Dump pipe modified - new flange that isn't a POS leaking rusty heap of crap, pipe modified to give better flow to the wastegate (was just hitting a wall before). You can see whats been added in the pic. Exhaust also raised in the process... yay less scrapage!
    • BOV removed - it was broken. GFB heap of crap! Might replace it... might not.

So hopefully its now fully leak free. If there's anything else, it must be freaking obscure or just ridiculous, cause a silly amount of stuff has been replaced now.

Before, boost came on at about 2800 and slowly gained... now its almost fully on at like 3200! Bleed valve on the wastegate had to be turned down a huge amount, the dump and pvc intercooler piping must of been leaking like a bitch! I'd get a boost cut defeater thingy... but being a CT26 it maxes out at like 13psi anyways (running 10 atm, need to tweak it).

Unfortunately due to extra stuff being found that was leaking, there wasn't time / I couldn't afford a tune. So thats still to be done...

Exhaust next. Got some ideas for that.

Good shot of the welding, and gives you a small idea of the route:

Dump modifications (it may not be shiny and new, but its functional) :

  6. Yeah me too, and whats better, the Supra is going into WTF on Monday so its ready for the cruise! You guys better keep your distance till I'm used to the extra power ill get from the new dump, I/C and tune

I will keep my distance, if you make your tyres completely bald by the end of the cruise =P

Haha, one prob, I have an open diff haha, single pegger woo!

I couldn't do a burnout to save my life

Edit: I have a couple of walkie talkies, they kinda suck but I'll bring em.
