  1. Hey man Yeah Ironman are pretty good, and they have a shop in brissy to which is good... Id also ask other places like Superior Engineering and Opposite Lock, they also are very good for parts...and they know their trucks! ARB have good products, but seems like they are in it more for the dollar...as their prices may suggest...same goes for TJM....all stock decent quality parts though Plan on taking it offroad much, if at all?? They are built to run offroad tracks :D
  2. Also, Hoppys better be happy - I just pumped about $30 worth of gold coin into the DIY washing thing, lots of mud to wash off! Think ill use it more often - does the trick so much better than the little Karcher we got !
  3. How does it go now? Is it feeling good? (The clutch that is.. :P) Still making noises? If so, how bad? I dont feel like i ask enough questions...

    hilux help

Jeffy thats the first place I would look, because it could definitely be a cause of a problem like this - and its an easy fix! Braddq - Does it happen with any fuel you put in it? Assuming it does, then Id take the spark plug advice and add to it everything else in the ignition system - dizzy, leads, etc. When you look at the plugs make sure that they are gapped right and check to see whether or not there is oil getting into the combustion chamber (youll see the oil on the end of the plug). I know Toyotas sometimes hold their revs high when you start them from a cold start to warm the engine up quickly - if it goes away after a bit then i wouldnt worry to much about that... Also, how long has it been since you had the car serviced? Your fuel filter may need replacing which could also cause this sort of problem (if it is an old fuel filter) and your fuel pressure regulator would also be worthy of consideration. It could also be your TPS, but my money would be on something fuel or ignition related.. Let us know how you go! Cheers Kev

    2006 hilux

Hi all, well it all started last year when i decided that the gtfour was to much of a pain...i wanted to go travelling and want to go offroad (yes i caught the 4x4 bug) I decided that i wanted a dual cab, turbo diesel, tray back 4x4.. I started searching around and looking at different rigs (was definately biased toward toyota :P) until one day, probably much to everyones delight (because i wouldnt shut up about buying a truck) i found it...thats when I went and bought me a 2006 Toyota Hilux SR, D4D..had 134000km and was at good price at 28k! So then it starts.. It had the nice new car smell and look about it.. Before long, I got sick of the crappy cd player in it, so swiped some plastic and got me a GPS, DVD player, TV and reversing cam unit...much better! First major upgrade was the exhaust, gives it a nice deeper rumble and much better response! Wasnt long before I gave in to the temptation of beach cruising...thought the water and darker clouds made a background for a sneaky pic! Next mod was the snorkel - must have for any sort of offroading i reckon...and it gives a sweeet induction noise too

    08 hilux sr

If you go onto newhilux.net there is a whole heap of info on this, there are quite a few people having injector trouble and not being able to get toyota to admit their obvious design flaw. That knock in the morning is not uncommon for these common rail turbo diesel 1KD's...its def the injectors, but as i said...toyota wont have a bar of it.
  10. I think Conrods theory is definately credible - id be making sure you dont have a restriction in your fuel tank, maybe theres a bit of crap in your fuel tank that is just blocking your pick up - when you stop driving, it just settles back down to the bottom of the tank. Otherwise id also be looking in the carby for an answer. Let us know how you go!
  11. I got an 06 hilux d4d - i put the exhaust and snorkel on - around town i was getting around 650km, highway - up and over 700km. A few easy things you could try if you havnt already; Make sure you have a clean air filter - clogged ones will hurt performance and increase fuel economy. With that, clean your MAF sensor - if your on newhilux.net there is a good write up on it. CRC actually make a product to do this job, contact cleaner does the same thing. http://www.newhilux.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6272&hilit=Bad+fuel+economy#p83037 Also if you dont do it - replace the fuel filter (or get it done on your next service) and you should do that every second service or so at least - even better if you do it every service. If it still has crappy economy - the injectors may need attention. The common rail injectors that toyota use have built themselves a bad reputation because of all the faults they can have. Once again newhilux.net has miles of info on it so prob be worth getting on there if your not already. You wana hope its not injectors - your back pocket will know all about it if it is! Having bigger tyres (ie 265x75) will hurt your economy for sure - since fitting my 265's im pretty sure my ecomomy has fallen - but i still got just under half a tank left and have done 400kms of city driving.. Hope this helps!
  12. Never been to albion traino car park? Is it a low carpark? (ie would the hilux fit without either it taking me out or me taking it out - either way)
